I have wondered this myself for years. I remember well a cartoon about Elmer Fudd babysitting for Rosie the Riveter. She gave him a book to use to help babysit. He tried everything in the book and nothing worked on the brat. When Rosie came home she saw that Elmer was totally worn out so she asked him if he had used the book. He said he had tried everything but nothing worked. She said 'you don't use what's IN the book!! You USE THE BOOK and she picked it up and used it to spank the brat. That is exactly the way I feel the 'Dr Spock' book should be used.

My son is in college for special ed elementary ed. He had to do a classroom observation with a real class. He said most of the kids were rude and misbehaved. This was a "regular" class not special ed. He was left in charge for a day and he layed the law down to them. The teacher was shocked and told him kids will be kids and this is how kids are. He told her "kids need to learn manners and if the parents don't do it, it's his job to make them mind at school". WOW He wasn't asked to go back to her class the next time.............sad that even some teachers don't see the path kids are going down.

This kid wanted to beat the Columbine total! But he is too dumb to know that Sept. 11 is vetran's day and schools are closed!

This is where permissive, no limits..let's let the kid do whatever the heck he wants , I need "Me time" parenting gets us! This school is where I went!

TAMPA - Police say plans for mass murder that intended to rival the Columbine High School and Virginia Tech shootings were nipped in the bud, thanks to an anonymous tip.

In July, detectives received an anonymous tip through CrimeStoppers reporting that a 17-year-old was planning a mass shooting at Leto High School, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives identified and interviewed witnesses, and found information that confirmed the validity of the tip.

The investigation led them to a teenager who they arrested Monday, charging him with solicitation to commit murder/threat to discharge destructive device.

According to authorities, the teen intentionally solicited a witness between March and July of this year to carry out a shooting at Leto High School on November 11 of next year - 11/11/11.

The teen told several witnesses that he intended to commit the crimes in an effort to “break the record” of the Columbine and Virginia Tech shootings, killing everyone he could.

Detectives confiscated a .22 caliber rifle, a bow and arrow, several books on firearms and a computer from his home.

A 'Columbine' video game was found on the computer, and a user made multiple inquiries to Columbine and Virginia Tech, as well as Tampa gun shops.

This is why we do Catholic school in my family. Teachers are respected for the most part there. They can and do expel trouble makers.

Praise God someone turned him in. There is no telling how many lives this person saved. It's stuff like this that makes my blood run cold. Even though I watch a lot of criminal stuff on television, I cannot for the life of me understand this kind of behavior. That means that this kid has no respect at all for life......like using a fly swatter to kill flies, having no feelings whatsoever. Where are the parents? Probably too busy to pay attention. Of course, I don't know that for sure. I stayed in the middle of my son's life when he was a teenager. I worked full time, did my own housework, etc., but I made sure I always knew where he was, with whom, and what they were doing. I was not his friend...I was his mother.
