I think it was Vapor Joe who insinuated that the some mod/atty makers are actually selling their own blueprints to Chinese cloners. This would explain how and why clones are hitting the market so quickly after the real mccoys.

Designers of the originals would likely receive a lump sum from the clone manufacturers and get a decent-quality clone into the hands of more vapers in hopes of convincing them to purchase the real deal.

I think Vapor Joe greatly overestimates the difficulty of reverse engineering a mod or atty.

Im just takn bout the Russian tanks.

The Kayfun was designed by SvoeMesto. The guy who makes the Russian worked for SM, and was instrumental in the original design. He then left SM, and went with a Chinese company to manufacture the Russian, using the design he worked on at SM.

The Kayfun was first introduced from Russia. The Russian 91 is a cloned Kayfun by the Chinese. So, how can that be the real deal?

Haven't read the rest of the thread, so if this is already stated, I apologize.

That being said, unfortunately, you are wrong. The Kayfun was designed by 2 people. One designed it, one manufactured it. They had a falling out, and the one who designed it started to make the Russian while the original manufacture continued to make the Kayfun. They are identical in design, as far as I can tell, and neither are clones. They are both authentic RBAs.

in china they do not have copy right laws as we know of, unless your tied in with a high party official
or general.they have there own set of rules if you catch my drift.
generally if you can determine the name of the manufacturer the rule of thumb is,
if they make the original there clones are identical in all respects.
there cheaper knock offs are primarily for the asian market.
do to high demand however a lot of the inferior stuff is ending up here,
and of course there are a lot of cheap clone manufacturers too.

You are kidding yourself.

You do own a few reals right, and a few clones? If anything, the difference between most of the clones is the quality of parts, NOT the design itself.

Most of the clones are designed practically the same, with slight variances IF that. The qualities of the metals and manufacturing used is more in question than anything.

Also, this kind of thing isn't new. In the pharm industry, many 'generics' are manufactured by the SAME COMPANIES/FACTORIES that manufacture name-brand medicines. The only difference is the companies who put their names on the name brand buy a certain amount to stamp their name on....the rest get called generics and get sold for cheaper. Often times the SAME PRODUCT.

When china manufactures clones.....often times they are making the EXACT SAME PRODUCT.... except cutting costs by using cheap labor, someone's ELSES design, and cheaper metals.

Of course, that isn't always the case. Sometimes the china clones are just cheap china crap...a COMPLETELY inferior product. Other times....I've seen china clones that use high qualities metals. It is happening now. Virtually the exact same product, a complete replica.

Bottom line, if you are buying clones, do your research.

The clones vs real to me has always been like...

Fruit Loops vs Fruit Hoops (storebrand)

You go to Wal-Mart and literally you could find storebrand everything. Sometimes it's as good as the real thing, sometimes it's crap. The post above is absolutely right when they said to do your research.

Sent from my iPhone because I'm awesome like that.

It is not hard to copy a RBA. Simply disassemble it, use the parts to make a mold, use the mold to make as many copies of the original as you want, and assemble the copies. You don't need blueprints or plans.
