I'm not doing as well as the other vapors.
I've been vaping for a week now, first with the USB passthrough and since Thursday with the 510 'On the Go' kit, but I'm not 100% satisfied with my mixture and find that I still reach for a smoke now and then.

It's not too bad, I mean, I used to smoke 30 to 35 cigarettes per day. I've been able to bring that down to about 5 - 7 smokes per day, but still, I would like to quite altogether.

Maybe the mixture I smoke is too light. I'm using USA Mix with 18 mg nicotine. Maybe I should go for 24 mg.
Then again, maybe I should try the 555 mixture.

I wish I could find someone who used to smoke Macdonals cigarettes or DuMaurier and that they could tell me what they are vaping now.

I'm sorry to hear it Chanel. Don't beat yourself up! You know, I have read so many posts by people who didn't quit right after starting vaping though. I mean sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't. I would just give it time, you are already winning just by cutting back. Just think you many times you probably said to yourself (if you are anything like me anyway), "if I could even just cut back to 5 or 7 smokes..." Focus on how many smokes you aren't smoking now, not how many you are. I personally vape 24mg and I used to smoke almost 3/4 pack of camel filters a day, so maybe the 24 would work for you, I can't say. A lot of people say that they continued to allow themselves to smoke and vape alternately for a month or even longer and eventually the realized that they sort of accidentally quit because the vaping just became their preferred nicotine device after a while. If it really bothers you though another option is to try the snus I keep hearing about (I hope you can get it there, not sure) people say that helps a lot for the really strong cravings. Don't give up though, just try to enjoy the vaping when you do it and it will all work itself out in time.

Letting go of those analogs will come with time. Everyone is different.
Uping your nic level will help and getting some flavors you really like will start/keep? you looking forward to vaping instead of the analogs.
Look at how many analogs you have avoided already...over a pack and a half a DAY. That's GREAT!!!!

Vape On!!!!

My opinion is:

1) Don't beat yourself up about needing a few cigarettes per day. For many people that passes over time. For some (me included) it lasts a long time and can only be solved by adding some snus to the mix. (See my notes near the end of this post: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ing-your-symptoms-while-adjusting-vaping.html) For now you're doing fine, don't worry about it.

2) Based on the amount you were smoking, yes, bump the nic level in your next order, that might help.

3) Not many flavors are oriented toward Canadian vapors. I haven't tried this one but it may be just right for you, Do More Eh as described in this thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/canadian-members/64096-du-maurier.html. The first post in the thread has a clickable link to the supplier. Flavors from other suppliers which you might find more suitable to a Canadian ex-smoker include Winston (my favorite), Dunhill, Parliament, Kent.

Best of luck on completely replacing your smoking!

Hi,

I smoked about 30 rollies per day and yep, about a month into vaping I still smoke a couple of analogs a day. I'm using 36mg liquid on a BE901, and pretty much the only time I'll have an analog now is when I've mucked up and not charged my batteries (and dont have my passthru), or in the morning/work. Don't be afraid to try 36mg liquid either if you're smoking analog because you're craving. It's pretty bloody string, but maybe grab 10ml's on your next order and see what you think. My fave so far is bestecigs 555. It's not really like tobacco, but its strangely tasty.

Man, cutting the number of cigs you're smoking by 70% or 80% is a huge achievement - try that with a patch or nicotine gum and see how comfortable it is! Those 5-7 cigs will probably tailor off in time too.

Vape on mate!

Don't worry too much - actually, the majority of people does not manage to quit the day their PV arrives. These things have a learning curve, not just with handling, but also with getting enough nic out of them. Many vapers for example need stronger liquid in the first maybe two weeks. Some need stronger stuff for longer, nothing wrong with that, either. Nic alone is not all that bad, it's the inhaled smoke that is the real problem
But you are inhaling a lot less now than you did, so that is already considerably better. Don't count the analogs you still smoke, count the ones you don't!

I'd say, try a bottle of 24mg-juice, and if by four weeks of vaping you still can't leave those analogs alone, it's really time to head over to the smokeless section of the forum. Around 20% of all vapers need some form of tobacco, because there is more in tobacco than just nicotine. And there are considerably better alternatives than cigarettes. (Actually, everything is a better alternative than those.) But I would not worry about that during the first four weeks or so.

And if you run into any odd symptoms: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ing-your-symptoms-while-adjusting-vaping.html (That one should be required reading for every newbie.)

You're making a promising improvement cutting down to 5-7 from 30-35. I hope you're proud of that.

I'm a beginner e-cig vapor and I purchased the 24mg Cignot fluid, and I found this to be extremely strong because I would only smoke 7-10 analogs a day. So, just as every other Member has recommended, I would highly advise you in trying a higher nicotine fluid. This will hopefully deter any cravings for analogs you have.

Overall, good luck with your vaping. The benefits have already begun.

Really youve no need to worry - youre smoking so much LESS - and thats a WIN right?
If you want to quit you will but it's going to take TIME. You smoked a LOT every day - your body needs to adjust to not having so much nicotine and all those chemicals - in fact slow is probably better for you than quitting right away. Weaning yourself off slowly will give you much more wiggle room to balance your body's needs versus its addiction needs; and the PV can help supply the nicotine part so you dont get sick (yes you can get sick if you smoked a LOT and then quit cold turkey).
Alex is right about giving yourself time to see if you do without analogs an just use the PV alone or whether you will need some extra help - like snus or something similar - to satisfy the chemical (non nicotine) cravings that many people suffer from.
Above all don't stress and don't see having 5-7 cigs a day (down from 30-35) as a negative - its really NOT - its a huge positive.
Well done :)

Thank you all for your replies.
To those who recommended a higher nicotine level I would like to say that the first few drags are quite satisfactory with 18 mg. The satisfaction quickly wears off though. After 4 or 5 puffs the 'cigarette' becomes too light.

Have you tried dripping? Just 2 to 3 drops are good for 5 to 8 good drags for me . When it gets to "light" just drop 2 to 3 more drops in.

Hmmm ... that may simply be a technical thing then, maybe you are vaping slightly to fast for your cart, so it can't keep up deliverin juice to the atty? Have you simply tried slower vaping? If that solves the problem, you need a cart mod.
I usually tell newbies to use this one first: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/11421-cart-mod-better-refilling.html It already is quite an improvement, and from there you can check out all the others out there. Although that is, after much checking, the one I still use.

As others have said, don't beat yourself up... you are doing great, and having this forum for support and encouragement is invaluable.

If possible, finding a vaping buddy in your area (or better yet, a group) can be a big help too.

I have a few missteps along the way, but finally, a year ago, I made the switch completely.

I don't look at my PV as a "fake cigarette", or vaping as "fake smoking" or any of those type terminology because it's NOT, it is an alternative to my addiction to analogs, yet leaves me the satisfaction of the hand to mouth, and the nicotine delivery.

I am a happy full time vaper, and I wish everyone the best, but be patient, for some it's easier than for others....
