Russian whistling

Hi all,

I bought the Russian 91% from MBV about a month or two ago and it's got a really loud whistle. I'm assuming it's not a clone but an original. I've heard about clones and KFL whistling but not genuine Russians. Has anyone else had the same issue? How did you fix it?
I refuse to use it as its too loud at work but it is a really good concept. Thanks,

Addy

Thanks for that Ken. I tried that already, and yes, it stops the whistling, but the draw is too loose then. Primary reason I got the Russian over KFL was the AFC.

That sucks. I like my draw as open as possible, but still put back the afc screw due to leaking issues. Hope someone will be able to help you.

Try drilling out the air hole and then chamfering the inlet. I did this with a 5/64ths drill {Just under 2mm} and it killed the whistle. You can still crank the air control down for a tighter draw, too. This is with a FakeTech Russian Clone.

^^^ This. Don't think you have to actually drill out the actual airhole. Just use a drill bit slightly larger than the air hole and drill in reverse for a few seconds
