Maybe so, but genuine Efests get good press in the tests. They've been counterfeited so much that there are QR scan stickers on each battery now that can be verified to discourage counterfeiting.

There are bad batteries all over. Some are better than others.
Oh really? Check out the battery forum and Mooch's tests, and the way efest have responded.

It's a 20A CDR cell. I don't know why Efest has to advertise them incorrectly.

Because when you're a re-wrapper... it's what you do. (Thanks Geico)

And it's why we distrust and generally despise re-wrappers (it's what we do :p ).

I don't give a damn how much torch fans love the overpriced Efests, they don't generally put 20-25A draw flashlights up to their face.

I'm not necessarily defending Efest, just that I've had good results with a couple of Efests that I've used for a couple of years in single mode. I asked for a pair of Sony or Samsungs for my new mod . They were out and I wanted to vape that day, so I took the Efest 3000mah and matched them as new batteries married in a pair to be safe(er).

I've taken them out of the Koopor Plus several times and popped them into my LUC 4 charger just to compare voltages. They've always read the same voltage each time at various discharge levels, which tells me they are discharging evenly.

For the record, I'm a retired electronics field engineer for a major company. I've dealt with HV power supplies, helium-neon lasers and their power supplies, Xenon flash tubes, high voltage electrostatic power supplies, and all the multi-board subsystems that run 120ppm and 180ppm high speed laser printers in computer rooms for decades in my service territory. I know the theory and the technology, along with its pitfalls.

Hi Dave,

It's not that all Efest batteries will be bad. It's more that with them re-wrapping other companies batteries, you don't know what you're going to get. They also seem to play fast and loose with their ratings. I'm not piling on here, seems like you got a good set. Just something to think about in the future. I'll second taking a look in the battery section at Mooch's ratings. You can also check the link to the article in my signature about 18650 batteries if you're so inclined.

Cheers,
Steve

Thanks. I know that I can get Sony and Samsung batteries online for what I paid for the Efests locally and will probably order a couple of sets to keep in rotation. I'll use the Efest 3000mah as I have the other Efest 2500mah batts in my Provari V2, which is mainly a backup these days while I wait on other devices to charge.

Thanks for the link to Mooch's tables. That's probably what I need to see to evaluate these new Efest 3000mah batts.

ETA: I checked out Mooch's tables and the new Efest 3000mah is a 20A CDR batt with a max discharge rate of 25A. I'm vaping at 9w average with occasional excursions to 10W. I bought this mod for dual 18650 battery life with a possibility of changing to nickel or titanium coils and vaping in TC mode. Vaping at 10W for me consists of a 2 ohm coil running at 4.5V. That puts me around 2.25A according to Mr. Ohm. Outside of a catastrophic failure that results in reverse discharge, I'm probably safe with those two batts in my Smok Koopor Plus 200W mod. They will be used as a pair and treated lightly.
