Great deal from chopper the VB is a good deal and some juice to sweeten the pot.Once you get the vb broke in works great!
Pepper I've gotten a better coil by twisting the top part of the coil wire on mine. I was getting hot spots also and a freind showed me how to do it and it worked for me. It's a PITA but it did work. Thankfully I also got new glasses so I can see it now, lol
I can't unscrew the top cap for my defcon mini, and I just got it on friday after a seriously long wait for it, any ideas on how to fix this problem?
Well I am about halfway thru my second tankfull on my new AB. The flavor is really coming on strong. Vapor production is awesome. The coil still measures 1.7 ohms, vaping on provari @ 3.7v. This works out to about 8 watts. No leaks at all. Working just great.
I noticed that the wick Chopper rolls is a bit smaller in diameter than what I normally roll for my did. Does anyone know what effect the size and mass of the wick has on preformance??? I like the pure or high VG juices and have tried several diffrent wick coil combinations over the past few months. I got turned off of the SS wicks pretty quick but have been giving them another try recently. I have some 500 mesh coming this week for something new to try.
So does anyone have any opinions on how much SS mesh is too much or too little. Obviously it needs to be small enough to fit the wick hole and tall enough for coil wraps to almost bottom of tank, but how much SS mesh do most people like???
Has anybody tried to double and twist the res wire at the top and bottom of coil ( where it goes from wick to the post ) to prevent hot spots in this area? Do I just need to spend more time working with the SS mesh and quit asking so many questions?
All opinions and comments welcome. BTW thanks again Chopper, really liking my new AB.

Okay I cannot contain myself any longer. What in the world is the jack frost method?Any pictures or video's on it?Sorry but I've never heard of it.

elfstone said:J Frost refers to the fact that you pre-oxidize the mesh before you roll it, without quenching it at all... I also oxidized it again after rolling, paying special attention to the top and bottom. The most significant advantage is that if you do not quench in water the wick will be stronger and more elastic, rather than mushy and friable.
Anyway, you can still burn off PG or juice at the very end... I also used rolling paper...
I rolled the wick first on the thinner Allen key, then I rolled it some more without any core until it fit not-too-snugly in the wick hole. If it is too snug, when it dilates from heat it will become choked.
I coil it outside the PV, over rolling paper, and I just eyeball so that the leads will sort of be in the right place. First time it worked from the first attempt, last time it took me three tries as I kept ending up too low for the positive screw... doesn't matter...
Oh, and then - I learned this after I did my DID on the ProVari - make sure you burn off the paper with an almost drained battery (~3.6 V) - you are more likely to end up with no shorts at all if you first burn the wick at lower voltages.
LOL Chopper, I've been wondering the same thing but didn't want to ask as to not look stupid.
The jack frost method is where you take the flat unrolled SS Mesh and season it before you roll it. Heat up the sheet till it glows. Go slow and do it evenly, then roll, and season the rolled mesh by quenching and burning liquid as usual.
At least that's what I understand of it.
Here's the original post about it:
