The only possibility I can think of is that yours being the 5v unit it has just the right amount of internal resistance to prevent that from happening..... the powder coat does keep the atty from activating as hard as it does when I touch the cap, but it activates it none the less... I heard a couple others say it (one on one conversations) which had me make sure to test it...

BUT.. it is no way a big deal... the unpainted device is made to be touched anywhere... so.. no harm no FOWL in my book...

Nice Review LGD

Thats really odd that yours fires up without touching the brass ends

Im using mine right now and it will not fire without touching the brass end!!!

Im not sure what would cause that

Good vid though!:)

That is odd.. it's never bothered me cuz I have big hands and would probably make contact with the endcap anyways but yeah weird! Nice review ;)

I have the black 5v and mine will not fire unless I make contact with an end cap.. not even alittle bit.
Oh and my sister has the purple 3.6/6v and her's won't either

Though I don't recommend it ;) did you try your sister's @ 6v

Also does the purple paint seem thick? It's a guess, but maybe mine needed another layer of powder coat or something.... Either way it is a nice device and definitely not a deal breaker one way or the other :D

I would not doubt that this device lasts way past its warranty:toast:

I found out the problem..... and didn't realize it until just NOW.... if you notice I have a T-tip on my device (YOU ALL SHOULD HAVE CAUGHT THIS)

Well why the atty activated when just touching the botton.. was my DARN LIP completed the circuit HAHA... that is too funny Sooo

finger on switch + lip on metal -T tip = active atty :D

doesn't happen with my drip tips

I did try it at 6v.. lol not a fan. It was funny, she was having a difficult time getting the battery cap on and didn't realize her hand was on the sensor and it started pouring out smoke.. whoops lol.
I dunno if I would say it's thick.. I guess it seems more thick than the black but that might just be because it has a rough texture to it
