Hi,

This is my very first post, after lurking for a couple of months. I already have a Bloog and just got the new Go Go today, (and a ridiculous amount of juices, with more on the way). Love them both for different reasons; and I'm now down to one or two analogs a day, just cuz I still wanna. I don't even need them. That's after smoking 2-3 PAD for thirty years! Never thought this would happen, but it's been such a natural and slow progression, I've hardly noticed. I have Papa Bloog to thank for his wonderful reviews, that got me started in the first place. Love Bloog; jury's still out on the GoGo, but sure hits like a champ. Probably better not take that to work. Way too much vapor, and makes me a little dizzy, ha! Bloog is what got me off analogs, though, and it's perfect for stealth vaping.

Anyway, I don't know what website to trust, to download a resizing program. I was looking around last night, as I finally just signed up on this site, but I don't know what website to trust, downloading and all. What do most of you use? I have a couple of pics I'd like to resize, so I'm not just a dot on here. Everyone has such neat avatars; where do you find them, and how do you resize them so small to fit these requirements?

Thanks in advance!

Chloe

The GIMP will certainly resize a picture. But it will do much, much more. If you install it just to resize a pic or two, it's a bit of overkill.

Picasa is kind of the same, but in a different way. It wants to take over every picture on your computer.

Try this one: PhotoResize. It may seem confusing at first, but all you have to do is rename the executable depending on what output size you want. Read down the page for examples. My wife uses it to resize pictures for craigslist ads. It works great.

A little more powerful, and possibly easier to use would be IrfanView. Simple, but powerful.

Good luck with whatever you use.

I agree that they're overkill, but I was just going from what I have used. I hope your suggestions work out better!

Oh, my word. Thanks, guys, but any suggestions on which one's the easiest to use? I can handle some complicated stuff, but which one to choose that's the easiest? They all look rather hard to figure out. I'm deciding between a gorgeous pic of a girl named Chloe on my soap, or three of my cat's butts. Hmm. I know, major dilemma. And Rosa, wish I had one of those around! Well, maybe not, in my case, ha!

Anyway, I checked them all out a little, and ran away like a scared little girl. I hate asking men for help these days, but damn, they all look complicated. I already have two pic programs fighting for rights on my own computer; don't want to start an all out war. Could I have a little bit more advice, and then I'll go away? I'm really not 'tupid, just seems that way!

Yeah, I sure know about that. Love your avatar; is that you?

Only in my mind.

Or where do you get stuff like that?

I just looked up Debbie Harry using google and chose a picture from 'images'. We have a mac so it's easier to mess with images afaik. My husband changed the size and I stuck it into the image of my avatar.

Irfanview. I've been using it since 1999. Small and very eay to use.

IrfanView - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com
This program should come standard with Windows

Gimp is cool but rather large and tricky especially if you aren't much of a geek.
You can download it from Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com without worry.
They have mac stuff as well :Mac - Free Mac software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com
If' you are a total computer noob Cnet is a great place to learn.

Get yourself a free antivirus program there too if you aren't running one already.

Feel free to pm me if you have any problems.
I will be at work till about 4pm est though.
Hope that helps.

I had no idea there are websites dedicated to resizing. I just use paint on my desktop. Find your picture, drag it to desktop, right click, open with paint and then choose resize. Choose pixels and type in 150 since that's the largest we are allowed.

I think my hubby did something like that. I know it's on my desktop anyways......

I don't understand, this site keeps logging me out while I'm writing, and everything disappears, arrgh! I wrote a bunch of stuff, thanking you all for your help, and thanking you, Rosa, for giving me the guts to go with a celeb pic instead of my cat's butts! I love Blondie, by the way, and still have all their stuff. I went with Irfanview, and it was really easy. My avatar is a girl named Chloe on my soap, Days, but my avatar's name on Second Life is Chloe Bruissardt. I don't get on there much, so why waste a good name! Man, I better post this before it disappears, too. Is there a time limit? I like to proofread before posting, ya know?

So, anyway, I'll try the rest of it again. I wanted to say that I accidentally quit smoking two days ago. I ran out, and haven't bought any since. I was actually in Kmart today, well yesterday now, and found myself gazing off in the distance while at the checkstand, and it was a cigarette display case. When I realized it, I didn't even feel anything. Huh. That is so weird to me, 2 PAD chainsmoker.

I did a test the other day, smoking a menthol, and vaping menthol at the same time. I couldn't tell the difference, until near the end, the cig tasted like ash, and the e-cig tasted clean and slightly sweet. I was drinking wine, so I tried it the next day with coffee, same result. Now I just think of that when I'm getting nostalgic for a real one. I never would have thought this would happen!

Thanks again, everyone!

yes, when you log in there should be a box you can click to stay logged in. Maybe is says "remember me" or something.. I'm not sure because I have been logged in for almost a year now (don't even remember my password anymore, I'd have to look it up on my Palm).

... and thanks for the kind thoughts :)

Oh, thanks, Rosa! I didn't see that you'd written until I wrote some more. I'll try that the next time I log in. I take forever to write sometimes, and this is the second time I've lost everything, so I've been typing like mad!
