Howzit,
Reading your posts about getting sold a mech mod as a 1st device just blows my mind and the fact that the people who sold it you KNEW you were a newb is even worse. I totally agree with ratchat and I am actually pretty upset(enough to write a response) to learn that they would be so irresponsible and careless just to make a sale. Personally, I would NEVER go back to that store. Furthermore, I would STOP using that mod you got until you are more familiar with the safety concerns of that type of device. As mentioned, a vv/vw device or any regulated mod would be a wiser first choice. I started off with an ego twist vv battery and a kangertech mini protank3 which is virtually foolproof and pretty safe for a newb. They are both quality products that I still own and still work perfectly which my wife has now started using as she is interested in vaping too.
That being said, I am fairly new to vaping as well but have been lucky enough to have a few friends who knew their stuff and could point me in the right direction when I was a newb. I am by no means an expert but I can make a few suggestions to someone who is just starting out as I was there not too long ago...
First of all, shopping online beats any physical store in my opinion. Better prices and selection(with reviews) to name a few pros but a few obvious cons would be having to wait for shipping and you cant physically hold or try anything before buying. However, there is so much info about anything and everything vape here on ecf as well as awesome peeps who can give you sound advice unlike those azzholes at the shop you went to... There are a bunch of shops around me that I go into occasionally to sample and buy juice but it is almost always cheaper to get stuff online.
My personal experiences were first with an ego twist vv battery and kanger miniprotank3 which I loved as a first ecig. Then I tried an Aspire k1 glassomizer which blew away the kanger in terms of flavor and was stuck on that for awhile but was looking for something more powerful since I started vaping to replace smoking analogs.
Next was a Smoktech zmax mini device which was a vv/vw capable of doing 6v/15w which was a huge step up from a 4.2v ego twist. That with the Aspire k1 kept me happy for months but now I am just getting interested in rebuildables and vaping at higher amps/wattages but still don't yet feel comfortable on a mech so I'm gonna stick with a regulated mod for now... Keep the mech you have as you will most likely want to take your vaping to the next level at some point...
Let me say that I am one to really do my research on anything and everything and I've learned that there are some serious risks involved with vaping at lower ohms and that many things can go wrong without the right info and knowledge. At the same time though, it is relatively safe as long as you know what you are building and the requirements needed for the equipment you are using. I still have a lot to learn but am getting confident that I have enough knowledge to enter into the realm of rebuildables and mechs but am still gonna take it slow and (hopefully) safe.
I would suggest starting with a reputable site like MVS(myvaporstore) and possibly look into getting an ego-type battery paired with a clearomizer of some sort as it is basically plug-n-play meaning there is nothing to build or test first. Just fill the juice, charge the battery and you're good to go. The only maintenance required is to change out the atomizer every so often and buy more juice. Do your own research and/or ask questions is my advice and don't always trust the first thing you read.
Hope I have helped a bit and wish you luck!
Aloha
