Oh so vaporshark was the one who got the breach. My bank sends me an alert through email and it says to call the main number on the back of my debit card. They canceled my card immediately and had to send me a new one. They said it was a breach on a retailer but wouldn't tell me who. Now I know.

Well no harm done in the end. The scammer made one charge for $4.99 at buyhidxenon.com as a tester before dropping a few huge charges at other sites. The $4.99 was the only one that went through before the automatic fraud detection block hit, and they are disputing even that charge.

So no harm done in the end other than waiting for new cards to arrive.
@IanDVaypes
When did that happen to you?
You should contact VS and let them know. (855) 827-3669. Just tell them the dates of the charges and the date of your purchase from VS. It may help them troubleshoot. They're good folks and will be interested. If it's an 'internal problem' their new security measures will not be helping out but dates might.

shoutout to vaporshark for exposing my credit card : electronic_cigarette

Tons of hits for credit card fraud exposure this summer. Something is definitely up.

Starting in December actually.
Site security? - recent joyetech problems and vapor shark's updated security : electronic_cigarette

Good Afternoon, Recently we have been overwhelmed with the amount of fraudulent credit cards that are being used for high dollar purchases. Although most of them are coming from Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore we are still getting a staggering amount stateside. We use an Anti Fraud program called Signifyd which will occasionally flag orders as fraud. When this happens we need to do a manual verification. We attempt to call the customer first and if we can not get a hold of them an email is then sent. After the identity has been verified all emails and pictures of ID's are deleted. Unfortunately there is no other way to do this. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but we do have to protect ourselves from theft."

It takes nothing for a company to set up a paypal account and accept payments through them. In fact, it's cheaper than the credit card fees they are charged. So any online retailer that doesn't offer paypal payments, does not get my business. My financial accounts are way too important to me.

I think there is a good explanation for the lack of PayPal usage. From Paypal's own website - Up through July 1st, 2015, "The Acceptable Use Policy currently prohibits use of PayPal for activities that violate applicable law or industry regulations regarding the sale of tobacco products or prescription drugs and devices. " This covered e-cigarette products as well.

From what is documented in their Policy Updates at PayPal, "merchants will be permitted to use PayPal for sales of non-cigarette tobacco products, e-cigarettes, and prescription drugs and devices only with PayPal’s pre-approval."

But this just took effect in July, so I personally wouldn't ban on online retailer who doesn't accept PayPal since this is a new change that has taken effect. I definitely see the risks of credit card usage, but I have many more options online (and always cheaper) than my B&M. Hopefully thru this year, we will see more online retailers signup because it is not only safer to use, but much easier (I don't need to find my d*mn wallet everytime I want to buy the next new shiny thing).

They were allowed pre approval long before this. The policy update actually was about a year after they were allowed to get this approval.
But I would definitely ban online retailers who don't accept paypal (not being a spokesman, just speaking from my own feelings). PayPal is very easy to set up and it's also very easy to get pre approval. Takes about 2 days. Taking credit card numbers over the internet is just flat out foolish in this day and age. Typing them into websites borders on insanity. Way too many factors present that allow malicious behavior.
In most cases you never really know when you've been compromised. Most places wait a few weeks after getting your information so it's harder to figure out where they got it from.

I wonder if VS would take an order over the phone versus taking it over the website for the SBody Macro. Love the look, but if they are having such issues, I might get a prepaid card to make the purchase o_O WISH PayPal would quit being so difficult about ordering vape gear/juice -- its bordering on stupid these days....

I guess I am going to Date Myself.

But I can remember "Back in the Day" when you could actually send someone a Check or a Money Order for something. Albeit, an Extra Step. But Much More Secure.

LOL

I'm pretty sure they'll take orders over the phone.

A good stealth small box for vaping on break/lunch from work would be perfect. I use a Nebula 60w tc which is small but THIS little dude is perfect pocket simple. Lot of times I don't have pockets in a dress for office hours... Dragging a huge mod around looks like I have a major case of penis envy
