Ok..can't get it figured out as to why I can't vape at 5V with any of my genisis attys. No matter what I do...the ends of the coil between the post and mesh glow..and in most cases break. Doesn't do that with my 3.7v mods. This has a boosted switch and circuitry to handle the dual and triple coils, which the maker said actually increased the amps, wonder if that has something to do with it??

It could, it may also be the wire you are using. I always use 32ga. kanthal a-1 because of it's durability. I have had my Genisis mods up to 6v with no problem. The ends will glow at that voltage if the leads are long and there is not a lot of juice on the wick or if the mesh is shorting somewhere.

I know you've been using Genisis mods for a while now so I would not think it's a short, just added that for good measure :)

Urquid, I think it is an airflow problem too. A 1-1.5mm hole in the side of the combustion chamber directed at the base of the coil (or just below it in the case of the U shaped wick) instead of up through the bottom should help. The effects you describe sound comparable to firing it with the top off and sucking up the vapor with a straw.

Well, I am only human and have been known to make mistakes from time to time...:p the ends I try to keep as short as possible. I have moved the coils around, pulled the wick off and reoxidized....the wick is staying plenty wet, so maybe I am getting a short somewhere...but I can't find it. If it were a short it would do the same thing at 3.7....I would think anyway.

I do not understand why would you use genesis atty at 6V. There is no need for that.
But if you want to use it at higher voltage , use 5-6 wraps of wire and you put
some fiber in the mesh so you have better flow of juice on the wire. If the wire is dry it will glow and breake.

Well, I'm not sure why Lorderros is doing his at six...maybe he was just playing around with it....or maybe he likes a warmer vapor....as I do, which is why I want to make it work at 5v. A 2-3 second drag versus a longer 5-7 second drag is much easier also...

"no need" is all about personal preference.....seeing as how every vaper is different in what works for them.

I am far from a newbie when it comes to Genisis attys....so I have made coils from 1.5 to 4 ohms....3 wraps to 8. I use 32g kanthal....and on my 3.7v devices I do 3 wraps which gives me about 1.4-1.7 ohms.

My issue is that a fresh battery is about 4.1-4.2v. When they drop down to normal range...the vape gets weak FOR ME....

I wanted a VV to maintain that voltage throughout the battery.....but went with the 5v based on a suggestion from another member. So saying something isn't needed...just because YOU don't think it is....doesn't mean the other person feels the same way.....just my :2c:

Anything regulated would be constant....that's the reason I went with the 5v regulated mod over a VV that will lose power as the batteries drain....which makes you want to up the voltage to get back to that " sweet spot".

I don't claim to be a modder.....just a vaper that knows what I want....

Ok. I am not telling you what to do , just stating my opinion. I still do not understand why.
Because genesis is made so that you can set it up to work how ever you want.
That is why i do not get it. What type of battery you use?

I just revisited 3.7v for a day or so. An AW IMR 18350 and a 2.4 Ω .20 kanthal coil to be exact. I'm debating whether or not to add a booster to the mod or not. I just haven't been using it at 3.7. Again I miss the consistency, but beyond that, with more wraps in the coil I get more surface area to vape from, which I do feel makes a difference.

It is all about the watts per square meter of coil surface (resistance wire thickness being equal). An oversimplified example: 3 watts across 3 wraps gives the same coil surface temperature as 6 watts across 6 wraps, but the 6/6 setup will vaporize twice the e-liquid in a given amount of time.
