How much do I need to send for one unit, assembled, with all shipping and paypal fees included?
About a year's supply if you make your wicks with a 40mm x 12mm size and you use one wick a week. Off course it can last much longer once you get into the hang of things. I guess a 400mm x 400mm could last a few years....
BFG #2, Ok so I made another BFG this weekend, and have tried 3 different coils (since I have a REO to test on). The best setup so far is a 1/2" x 1.5mm vertical SS wick with silica rope wrapped around the base (not touching the coil). This allows for the silica to soak up the juice and then transfer it to the SS wick and then to the coil. I am using 4 wraps of 32 awg kanthal @ 1.7ohms, and this thing rocks.

Why one a week? They don't wear out, I have used the same ss wick for three months and it is as good as new. Just wash wrap a new coil on it and reuse. I got two sheets of 15cm by 15cm and it will probably be all I will ever use.
I know the g-tank-us and the BFG is taking a lot of the space here, but after seeing asdaq's mod with the micro-g I beginning to wonder how much it would be to make a small run of those for myself and some friends. I can see myself taking the micro-g and a preciseplus10440 (or 14500 if Dave decides to make one) to black tie events. Classy!
I tend to not spend time scrubbing something that costs less than a gum ball to replace.

I thought that the coils lasted a long time...
So, how long do they last?
I understand this will vary by setup, but 4-5 days sounds like a pretty short lifespan. I've had the same coil now for around 3 weeks and it even survived removing a coil to reduce resistance. If it's setup properly, and not glowing regularly, why would a coil break after 4-5 days?Coils last me 4 to 5 days, ss wicks last a long time.
