Hey need some help wit a scubagenv3 I just got from the classifieds as new unused but assembled. I got it today, added juice, put a little on the wick, and attempted to vape. What I get is a very crappy metallic taste and eventually the coil glows super red and my provari gets an E1 error which is a short. If stop pressing the button and stop vaping for a second the coil cools and then I can hit it again, but the same thing happens till I get an E1 error. I have tried continually lowering my voltage and trying but it still happens. What is going on? Help Please?

What is the ohm rating of the coil? Does the whole coil glow red, or just a small area (like the part from the post to the wick)? Sounds like a basic short... perhaps your wick isn't "oxidized" enough?

Wrap a 10x10mm piece of tissue paper around the coil after you washed it with hot water. Ensure the tissue paper makes 2 layers all around the wick. Let it dry a bit and then wrap your resistance wire over the tissue paper. Test the ohms and assemble. Make sure the tissue paper is wet with the VG/PG before firing it up. Works every time. The resistance wire gets a chance to oxidise as well with this method.

The whole coil gets red at first, and then after the initial E1 error, it seems the wire closest to the posts glows red the really bright red/orange and the E1 errors continue. Checking the resistance on the provari it says its 2.5ohm resistance. The wick only seems to be oxidized from one wick hole to the other like it is in Dan's video. Should I oxidize the entire wick?

I don't oxidize the whole wick but some people do. It's possible your wick is touching the center post, thus causing a short. I put 2 O-rings around my center tube so the wick wouldn't touch it.
Also, you could try pushing the coils around a little bit and trying again.. that also works sometimes when you have a short (if it's the coil area at least)

I've never tried this but that's a good idea! Thanks.

New developments in my scubagen problem :D . Looked reall close and my wick is not touching the center post No short anymore but the wire gets red hot and so does my wick then it just shuts down. I think its a protection thing the provari is doing. I really rhink my problem is the wick isn't wicking. I bought this pre assembled and unused so I am thinking maybe I will just make a new wick and coil. But first I need wick and coil :) I know there are plenty of stuff on this but figured I would ask here since we have a little convo going. What mesh works best(400 ss right?) and what kind of wire do I need?

The wire shouldn't get red hot if there is juice on the wick/coils, Yeah it's probably not wicking. Drip a couple drops of juice onto the coils and wick itself and fire it up and see how it performs - you should basically never see the coils glow red unless you're just doing a dry burn test or something like that. Although, I'm not sure that would give the Provari an E1...

Exactly. Thats why I think it is a wicking problem. I have done that a few times and and still it vapes off the juice I put on it, gives off a horrible metallicy taste then the coils start to glow
