if your using the syringe tubing it can be a little hard to get over the orings at first. seems to me they kinda 'work in' so to speak and it gets easier after they have been on with a tube for a while oh and i run a drill bit through the luer lock and slide the syringe all the way on it so the drill will spin the syringe then just use the point of an exacto knife to cut through it. takes a steady hand and you have to make sure the syringe is straight and it seems the back side of the blade point cuts better as it actually removes a small amount of material instead of just trying to cleave through it. hope that helps lol

Dan i recieved my package yesterday of 2 Scubagen Mods. Just want to thank you and your whole family for everything that you did in getting this whole thing started and completed with a very smooth and worry free transaction. You made it simple to get involved and order and put this whole thing together. I appreciate everything that you do for the vaping community. When i seen you at Vapefest (your hat you said you be wearing) i had to walk over to you and meet you. you are Aces my friend.
I am too busy doing other things right now to start working on my Scubagen, but i should be able to start next week sometime. at nite i try to read the posts so i know where i am. I am also rebuilding my original Hybrid Genisis right now as well.
Thanks again to you and your wife and daughter.

Just moved house and I have been off work for the past 5 days. Today I am back at work and my scubas were waiting on my desk. Thanks Dan and Family for putting them together! Nicely made pieces.

Without having to dig around the thread again, where is the best place to get the washers for the springs? Did someone find some that don't need modding, or is everyone grinding down old connectors like Dan did at first?

Not sure when I'll be able to get onto this as my house is full of boxes that need unpacking. But I am excited to get it going soon.

Ah yes that was it!
Hmmm, unfortunately the nearest ACE to me is a fair distance away.
I don't suppose anyone bought any extras that I could buy from them?

Just been to Home Depot and bought a pipe cutter and nearly bought a dremel, but held off to see if I need to or not?

ok, here it is.. i did what you suggested Dan, coil looks good, dry burned, all coil wraps are red, not touching, drop some juice to condition mesh and coil. 1.8ohm, 3.7 SB. and still getting harsh hit and weak vape.
i got five wraps on mesh.

If everything looks good, then I would use it for the evening. Vapor should improve, there is a break in period for the kanthal and the SS.
Can you throw a pic of the coil up, I have noticed the smaller dia the SS is the smaller the coil wraps are and the more pronounced the vapor is and smoother the hit.
How tight was the SS wick going into the bic pen insolators on the main body?
Dan

Alright I found one a few miles away. So I shall swing over there either tonight or tomorrow.

You should be looking for them in the second drawer from the top at Ace as shown in this picture.

So just to be sure.... I found this page for the nearest ACE store, they list this:
Metric Nuts SS - M16 ?
M3 is their lowest number, I cannot see an M1.6. Would it just be the M16?

Thanks

Well I just wanted to say I got my Scubagen all together today (only took 3 days as my frustration level with solder and teeny tiny stuff caused a LOT of needed breaks) LOL The good news is I did a bunch of stuff right as it fired up and produced nice vapor visually. The downside is I will be doing a take 2 (actually more like take 7) because I must have clogged my air intake during like step one and that was after reading someone else had done it. The great thing is ther instructions really work I am just learning a new vocabulary...tinning and flux, new skills......wiring and soldering not to mention the BIGGY.....modding.

Seriously I am in awe of Dan and all you other folks that understand what they are doing. I feel like a parent on Christmas eve...put tab A into tab B and so on. Come to think of it I was more than a little hesitant to push the button and used a mod that is one of my least fav....just in case. The bottom line for me is I am really close to having it work so I will continue until I get it right....I hope.
