Hey anyone recognize this design?
Of course I tweaked it a bit....
G-Tank_US_Spec.jpg

Wonder if Strum would let me do a co-op....
Could get the parts made for around 40.00 bucks.

Worth it to ask him. Having it machined here meant paying the price for a machinist here. What changes you have in there?

sent from my HTC genisis using Tapatalk

Changed the mouth piece to accept a drip tip only. No 701 adapter needed. Also it will be all SAE 1/2" 32tpi threading, battery connector will be SS, as well as the center post. Hey is that at least a 10% change LOL jk

would be nice to have o-rings in there as well. since the condensation would leak out whenever we unscrew any parts of the ahem "recognized design". Just a thought

Noted...

I have sent an email asking him for permission to make a US version of his design.
We will see what he says...

That would be pretty awesome

Im finally starting to "get it" with making my own coils / wicks with fiberglass, ss mesh, definitely a learning curve in there. Only a matter of time before I get bored of it and start prototyping my own ideas ;) . First I gotta try some silica next tho and figure out why ceramic tastes so bad. Been soaking/rinsing since last night - gonna let it sit in water, boil when I get home and THEN torch it again. Think maybe torching with my mini bernzomatic isn't hot enough to get the impurities out? Ive got a MAP gas torch too...

I like those changes a lot. I just want it to hold a little more liquid....

Sounds good. BUT, are you keeping the 15mm OD and wall thicknesses? Please do. Oh and how many tpi in the original BTW? They are some nice threads, and particularly in their high tpi.

Race, you mean between the sections?

I would be VERY Careful about the torching part...I'm sure your benzomatic is hot enough...I made the mistake of torching a wick of 400 SS with my big torch and while wrapping the coil half the wick crumbled in my hands...lol

I braze with that one so I'm sure its too hot...

The Nextel ceramic sleeve instructions say you can temper the material at 900c for 12 hours. I heated a piece with a mapp torch until it was white hot and after it cooled it was just like before. I am not trying to promote the product, just giving my findings. Sorry this is getting off topic.

Have a part number for the ceramic sleeve?

Only way to do that is make it longer :)
Looks like I will have to use 0-80 screws to... small space!
Unless we increase the diameter.... hmmmmmm
3/4" OD??
Thoughts....
Dan

Added:
That would increase the volume to approx 3.3ml

My thought was longer. % Length increase equals % volume increase I think. 1 or 1.5 cm perhaps. Just spitballing, would like to jam another ml in there.

It would be 5/8" OD and 1/2 " x 32tpi, not sure what the threads on the G-Tank are, I email him and asked for the specs. Said he would ask the turner, never got an answer, they look like 13mm x .75

A 1cm increase in tank length would give you a 1 ml increase to 3.01ml to be exact based on internal measurments for tank volume in ml.

Of course this is all mute unless I get the go ahead.

Hey, y'know what I just thought of, it could just have an optional threaded 'extender' section in there to make the capability for a longer tank. Not necessary really, but just a thought. Not sure what 'too long' is here....

yep. between the sections since everytime I unscrew any section (except the bottom brass) I get some liquid which is probably from all the condensation sipping out. Plus the o-ring will put some tension so we won't unscrew the wrong parts ie: unscrewing the combustion chamber section when we want to open the tank section.
