Got my new SD today and like it a lot. It came with a charged battery and I have another couple of batteries charging. My battery finally ran out so I went to get a new battery and it isn't working. So then I started doubting that I put it in correctly. The spring thing is for the NEGATIVE side of the battery, right?

Please only respond if you have a sd and/or know this for sure for THIS SD. I know the spring is USUALLY ALWAYS for the neg side of the battery, but I just want to make sure that it is ALSO this way for the SD. I don't understand why it's not working anymore.

Thanks.

Yes, the spring side is negative (in the charger). I had (have) a problem too, and it just seems that the charger is really touchy in the outlet. It doesn't always stay on and the batteries don't charge. I'm looking for a better charger, probably the one from DX...

Yeah, the charger that comes with the SD is weak as far as holding the battery in place. I just wrap a rubber band around it and the battery when its in there so it won't fall out.

No, not really, but Trog immediately wrote me back and offered to have me send it back to him for a replacement. But, now I'm thinking that its not the SD at all-- maybe it's the batteries. Or, the charger, since I doubt that all four batteries are bad. So, before I send it back I'm going to go to Radio Shack today and pick up a new charger. I did order one from dealextreme, but it's not here yet.

I think it just might be the battery charger. That makes complete sense as to why, if I don't use it for a while, I can get one hit off it, but then it "dies" again.

So, I'll post later once I get the right charger. Does anyone know what charger from radio shack I'd need? I thought I'd take a battery with me and ask there, but if anyone knows .. .

Thanks!

You got the little charger that says "ANO" on it right? Does the light on the charger change from green to red to green again when it's charging? Try wrapping a rubber band around the battery when its in there to make sure it's connecting good.

This one looks like it will work. A bit pricey though.

Hi kendra
I did not have any problems with the charger initially, apart from the long charge time but this is normal .
As Chuckie says.
After a while the silver prongs did need readjusted to get a tighter fit.

This is part of the issue for me... According to the charger, there is no long charge time. They are going green in around an hour or so. Then they aren't charged when I put them in the SD.

Does the charger stop when it goes green or can I just leave them in a little longer?

My original batteries took 7 hours for the Nano charger to go green, I timed them.

If the charger thinks the battery is fully charged it should stop charging.

So don`t know if leaving it in there will do any good unless it is just the light that is faulty.

Is it possible the battery is becoming loose and that is why the light turns green.
Is the charger in a high traffic area may be vibrations are knocking it loose ?.

Dec 08 I had one battery that did not take long to charge and never held a charge longer than 3 hrs , I got them from ebay the other 3 were fine for about 4 - 5 weeks and then they also started to go down hill rapidly.

I then bought 12 fire batteries from DX I am on the first 4 and one of these did not perform as well as the others from the word go.
It has been about 10 weeks now and I still get approx 4 - 5 hours good vaping from the other 3.

Kendra has the dual black charger.. these chinese chargers are best used laying flat.. not vertical in a wall plug.. none of them hold the batteries in that securely.. but the red light coming on should mean they are charging..

when fully charged the red light will never come on.. not unless the battery is use a little then it will..

walrus also has the dual black charger.. nether has the little nano... which apart from taking a long time to put its last bit of charge in seems very reliable..

we havnt shipped that many of the dual black ones.. only 25 or so..

the way to test a battery for charge is to put a volt meter on it.. fresh off charge they should read around 4.2 volts.. they should work okay until they get down to around 3.5 volts.. which should take several hours usage..

trog

ps.. only taking an hour to go green with the dual black charger simply means the battery was only half flat when placed in the charger.. they stop charging when they go green.. they should work okay.. they do not need to be fully charged to work...

your problem isnt batteries its something else.. most likely the atomizer isnt wet enough.. for best results they really do need topping up often.. classic carts might well be bigger but they just do not work properly... he he

remove the cart.. start from a dry-ish atomizer.. direct dip two or three drops into the atomizer.. suck and see what happens..

also using the 901 atomzer look down the atomizer end.. see if the coil glows red hot when the switch is pressed for four or five seconds.. if it does the atomizer is getting power..

the SD uses lots of fluid when sucked hard.. unless the cart is new and wet things get too dry for good vapour production.. two or three real cigs worth between carts top ups..

when all else fails read the instructions.. he he he

I haven't been using carts, just dripping with a dummy mouthpiece. 2 drops usually, maybe three in the 801 atomizer if the drops were smallish.

I've found that it may be a combination of things... The batteries not making good contact in the charger (and it is plugged into a wall outlet, until I can get a little extension cable to plug it into my power strip) and a bad atomizer. One of the 801's is shot. The 901 atomizers are fine, but it's a little harsh for my taste.

I just spent $29 at radio shack for a new charger that came with the shorter batteries that chuckie referred to. I had ordered from dealextreme, but it hasn't come yet. So, the new charger charged my batteries but the SD still doesn't work. Trog's great, though-- (UNLIKE GREG FROM SMOKELIBERATION) he's been very helpful. I'll send this one back and he'll send a new one.

I did this. You know, even though I know the batteries are working, I get NOTHING now. Not a sound, not a whisper. . . the atomizer is cold. I switched atomizers to the one on my 901 I'm presently vaping and I get nothing, too. Oh, I'm so disappointed! :( !!!!!

Well, I guess I'm sending it back tomorrow.

I don't really understand how these things work, but what does it seem like? The switch? The battery connections INSIDe there? I mean, is there something I can do to try to fix it from here?

Thanks.

Kendra, here's one more thing you can try before you send it back to trogg. I've read where some atomizers have a hard time fitting the SD. Not the thread part but the outer shell of the atomizer won't fit into the opening on the SD or is very tight. If that's the case with yours then maybe the contact of the atomizer isn't touching the one in the SD opening. Look at this pic. The edge of the tiny vent hole in the atomizer should be almost lined up with the rim of the SD when its screwed in as far as it will go. See if yours looks the same. Oh, and the black part on my SD is just a rubber sleeve I put on it so it has better grip.
