Woots!

:toast::toast:

I'm modifying my "woots" since it appears that the FDA wants to treat us the same as traditional cigarettes . . . that seems ridiculous. There should be some recognition that e-cigarettes are inherently less harmful than inhaling the products of combustion.

Now we begin the battles to have e-cigs declared as reduced harm and safer alternatives to traditional cigarette smoking.
With every advance we make, we have to be ready to push harder going forward.
Sitting back and relaxing can still have very unfortunate consequences.

That's good news. Now to wait and see what regulations they put on e-cigs.

Yeah, the one concerning thing is their stated intention to treat them "like cigarettes"...But we already know how to fight indoor use bans: Remind people that they learned in the 5th grade that smoke is different than vapor. It gets tricky to not seem like you are being condescending when you prove people with PhD's wrong using questions that could be trivia questions on a Bill Engvall game show. New reality show idea: "Are You Smarter Than A FDA Rep?"

Q: Which of the following activities is linked to an increased risk of lung disease?

A. vaping NRT Inhaler or tobacco products
B. Chewing NRT Gum or tobacco products
C. Dissolving NRT Candy or tobacco products
D. Inhaling smoke from industrial pollution or tobacco products

Glad to see you posting Julie. After reading about the tornado that struck St. Louis this weekend, I was a little worried.

As to the FDA's decision;

Wait am I hearing this correctly, the FDA wants to put e-cigs in the same exact class as smoking ? That's a bit of a kick in the face isn't it, especially seeing we aren't using tobacco, igniting anything that burns, bla bla bla and not having 4000 carcinogens how can they put vaporizing liquids in this same category as smoking ??

It was either that or they made it a drug delivery device and handed to the drug companies, complete with bow. With this decision we can now push to have vaping labeled as reduced harm, a classification that congress mandated but the FDA has yet to do anything about.
