Hi everyone, glad to see the weather is getting a little warmer for you guys. Don't think I would survive your winters!!!

I'm feeling like a piece of fried bacon here. We've set a couple of records here this summer. 29 consecutive days over 30C (86F) & 22 consecutive nights over 20C (68F). Today will be 36C (97F) and this is not unusual.

Anyway, corporate sailing day on the Swan River this afternoon, should be fun (see link below)

Julie, thanks for all your work and I didn't start the weather reports this time!!!

So.... so... jealous! I want a 35' cata so i can liveaboard. (Not big on the speed thing, but i'd race a hobbie cat.)

DataFreak, understand your desire for liveaboard and the cats are one way to go, but if it is going to rain for months on end, like our east coast this summer, it becomes a real PITA.

So we decided a few years ago to keep a keelboat for pleasure and if we want to sail in exotic locations, we just fly there and rent for a couple of weeks.

For those interested in Friday's outcome, we ran third. (There is however, some doubt cast upon first and second as to their adherence to the rules!!). That said, we're not racing for sheep stations in these events!!!

Have a good weekend everyone!

If we get one, we'll probably install a hard dodger and bimini so that the cockpit and saloon stay dryish. The main reason we are going with the cat is to reduce heeling. I've been on a few keelboats, and they all would be alright for a week or two at a time, but i'd hate to live in a closet for more than a year. Plus the increased deck space will be nice for stretching out when it's sunny.

Likelihood is, we'll be in Belize, and the storms roll through pretty fast there from what I hear, from what my mom tells me. Plus if anything major comes through, we'll have shelter on the dry.

Still trying to figure out how i'm going to make money though. I'd like to be in it before i'm 50, after all. At least with e-cigs, i know i'll live that long.

I have never posted here but have read the entire thread with great interests, especially as my state has a bill in place to try to ban all e-cig products to anyone unless registered with the FDA.

I found this article to be especially interesting and wanted to share it with those on this thread. I know it's a bit off-topic, but interesting just the same because what we "vape," is essentially smokeless as well: Two tobacco products free of FDA oversight | JournalNow.com

I had heard about this ruling and it is so baffling to me. Good, but baffling nonetheless. I would love to know the thought process that determines these things don't have tobacco in them. Might be setting a good precedent for e-cigs though. If the court has determined they can't be regulated as drug delivery devices and the FDA says these lozenges can't be regulated as tobacco products, then surely e-cigs can't be regulated as such either. Hmmmm, maybe we will get our wish and be able to be called reduced harm products. Or maybe they will finally just leave us alone altogether. (well, I can wish, can't I?)

The puppy is so cute. What breed?

A total mutt. He belongs to my sister, but I get to play with him since she only lives 5 minutes away. My dogs aren't exactly puppies anymore. There's a lot I miss about the puppy stage . . . but housebreaking isn't one of them. :)

I feel the same way about babies.

Since we're doing avatars and puppies, that's me and my wife's first pup at 14 weeks.

Here he is now at 5 months (in his messy room):

And in some weird happy growling pose:

No, he's not for sale.
