Well I would just like to say I went to a stop smoking thing put on by our Gov through the health center. They gave us free nic patches or inhalers and then went on to say that it is not the nic that is the problem it is all the other 4000 plus chems that are in a real cig. They also went on to tell us that it would be fine to use these products for as long as we liked. Our health board agrees that nic is not the killer and to use these but all of a sudden the drug company has no profit coming from this and oh no this stuff will kill you, poison ect.....We all know that Canada is run by these drug companies and there is no money in the cure. Only in the treatments.
just my 2 cents

I'm going to take the unpopular stance and say the OP is right about most of what he said. There does need to be some real testing and studies done! We all know this. We all assume that E-cigs are safe and fine but it is the FDA or Canadian Health Depts JOB YES JOB to evaluate these products for what they are intended to do which they have both failed in 100%. We do not know anything about e-cigs but what we have all experienced. I agree that I believe not KNOW BUT BELIEVE they are much safer than analogs. The info I do know about them compared to analogs makes me BELIEVE even stronger that these are a great alternative to analogs.

Another job of the government is to make sure these are used for quitting smoking and not addicting young people. I do not believe young people would be interested but then again we do have Cherry Strawberry and Chocolate flavored e-cigs among tons of other that sound appealing to the youth. Shouldn't the government look into this??? Didn't they do the right thing with big tobacco targeting our youth? I can understand the concern here and again it is their job to be concerned about such things.

I thinks this is a great forum and love it but rather than bash the OP because we don't agree 100% or see something different let's share our opinions and thoughts with them and why we came to different conclusions rather than "your a .....".

The last thing I would like you all to think very very hard about. You people bashing the OP are the same as the people who want e-cig banned! Rather than talking to the OP or trying to see his side or see anything except the way you want it you bash him and condemn him. The people who want e-cigs banned are a lot like you. They do not see the other side, they will not listen to reason, and they will not try to help you or share their reasoning only condemn you. Sound like anything that's been going on in this threat?

I am glad you are getting a e-cig. I hope you never smoke another day in your life and feel better for it too. I also agree with you that we need some real info about e-cigs.

I have yet to be so entertained on these forums until today.

Trust me folks, you can't teach a pig to sing. It just frustrates you and annoys the pig. Leave him in the waller and walk a different journey.

:pop:

lol crap. now i really wanna try to teach a pig to sing just to see if it really does annoy them.

not that i'm sure i'd wanna deal with an annoyed pig, but still...

the ball of big tobacco was already rolling strong enough that even if they did make them "stop targeting kids", kids still get hooked. There is no way you can think they are going after kids because they have flavored juices, ADULTS LIKE FLAVOR TOO. If a kid saw someone smoking an e-cig, they would most likely say "look at that dork smoking the fake cigarette." I would know, i live with a 19 and a 22 year old, my girlfriends little brothers. The 22 year old took interest in mine because he saw how effective it was with me. The 19 year old thinks we look like ......, and would never be caught dead in public with it, so he chooses to drop his $12 a day on 2 packs of menthols.

And it shouldn't matter if these devices are for quitting smoking or not, we should have the right to use this alternative. I haven't had a cigarette in over a month, i have saved a ton of money, and i feel better then i have felt in years. If the government decides they are to ban these then EVERYONE should be outraged. Not just users of the device. We are Americans, we have the right to choose. If we have the right to go down and buy a pack of tar, we need to have the right to choose the e-cigarette. Our gov already controls almost every aspect of our life. grr.

I haven't seen any kids use e-cigs.

I haven't seen ANYBODY use them around here.

I don't thinks kids will buy these things--maybe condoms, but not E-cigs. Then, they'll get older, get married, throw their condoms away (go combat), and their cigarettes...and buy e-cigs and talk to their cats and play with the old lady.

Now......if you told them they would 'look' prettier' or look smarter, or cooler--maybe. But if you tell them 'it will help you quite smoking'...they'd probably laugh in your face.

No kidding mister O.P. I just don't see it coming.

So, only people with health insurance should be able to get something that in your estimation may be less likely to kill them then what they can buy over the counter without the perscription. Hmmmmm. Any particular reason you haven't been able to find anything about e-cigs that wasn't from a retailer? Try Google e-cig studies. Brings up actual studies by real independent labs. Try it some time. And why in the world would you pick here to post!

Who dug this up from beyond the grave I wonder? Seen the date on the OP?

LOL! I didn't even look. I just got mad and went from there. :D
