I guess things have changed...
I asked about the sort of strange advertisement a while back and a moderator or administrator sort of gave me some information on what was going on. Because of all the things going on with vaping a lot of the suppliers and sellers of Vape products don't want to advertise anymore they don't want to call attention to themselves. So they've had to take their ad revenue from elsewhere in order to continue to operate a forum that is free to join. They are attempting to get E-liquid and nicotine vaping related sponsors but they are struggling and they need to keep the doors open so to speak. I think it's important that this remains a free forum with the option of being a supporting member so it makes a lot of sense to me and since cannabis is being deregulated to some extent while E-cigarettes are being regulated practically to death in some areas I believe this is how they're going to have to do things for quite a whileView attachment 886507

Really, I don't use them to grow anything, but it reminds me of a presentation I put together 10 years ago, when I was helping usher in the LED era. Just for grins, and because it brought back memories of an old career, here's a slide showing a benefit of LED when I used to have to explain what it actually was.

Yeah, I really didn't look, and it probably is. Any LED is better than fluorescent, and hey- they're selling to mostly stoners, so most of it is probably over priced garbage. I was just indulging myself a moment because it took me back.Yep yep yep... love my LEDs!
IMO, That LED lamp/fixture is all hype.
Cheers

Hmmm, back in the day I used Metal halide and high pressure sodium lights for my grow...plants seemed to do just fine...gotta look into this LED grow bulb thing for possible hydroponic food grow...Hey, wait! But LED is a superior grow light!

Here comes the AdBlock Brigade.

No need to wait- it'll pay for itself in a year. Just for fun, I plugged a simple conversion into the financial model I made back then for long term LED investment analysis. I don't know what you're using for lights, but this assumes 2- 15W compact fluorescent (actually consumes 18W with ballast) replaced with 2- 10W LED lamp that cost $10 ea. Payback within a year, and saves $20 per year in energy. I ignored maintenance savings from how long LED's last, and corresponding AC energy savings from lower wattage. Here are a few snips from the resulting report:LED is used for aquariums now too. Unfortunately I still have power compact lights on my 125 gallon tank until it dies. I have been waiting 6 years for that to happen and the lights just wont die. The price of LED has come down considerably in that time so it is almost worth just tossing these lights and getting LED. Oh but wait I'm in debt now from stocking up for my other hobby... Vaping.
I wouldn't overpay for an LED that markets itself as grow lights, or full spectrum. The chart above was representative of all mainstream LED's. They're all pretty much full spectrum, unless it's specifically designed for something other than general lighting.Hmmm, back in the day I used Metal halide and high pressure sodium lights for my grow...plants seemed to do just fine...gotta look into this LED grow bulb thing for possible hydroponic food grow...
