I am planning on ordering a VV box when they are again in stock, and was wondering if you can set the voltage using a multimeter. Can you just put the red lead in the center of the atty or carto connector on the box, and the black lead on the outside edge and then hit the button and read the MM?

Yes you can do that....then you can adjust the pot and read the voltage again with the MM...you are only using the MM to read the voltage at the atty/carto connector...
