Yeah, I think baby steps are needed. If it grows that would be cool. I might run into the Hwy Dinner after work and see how they feel about vaping. There are a couple of 6 tops in the back.

I want to say that they are okay with it there, if I remember correctly. I also think WC's South is cool with it..

Balls! I will see what I can do with that marvel idea..ill look into a domain and all of that when I get home..this could be interesting..

The website itself and the domain are cheap enough, it is the search engine priority and tagging and e-mails service that my require some additional funding from our "sponsors"

That's true. Also, I wouldn't have a problem with maintaining it and covering the standard fees. Ill do some research when I can and post my findings..

I would be willing to provide support and content as well. Also could look into having its own forum, where we don't have to speak in tongues.

May be going back to a dead horse here but...

On the topic of monthly meets and that type of thing, I wonder if it would help interest/attendance if it were more of a "workshop" than a Vaper's Anonymous meeting.

For example: I'm very intrigued by the thought of DIYing juice but have never seen it done and am a little chicken about buying a bunch of crap only to fail miserably and mix up a few batches of crap that I wouldn't wish on anybody. I've heard all over the place that it's real easy and real cheap and that everyone should do it but that doesn't really comfort me enough to place an order for supplies today. If I could see it done by someone with some experience and sample the result and take notes and make a list of all the stuff I need and....... , that would probably make all the difference in the world to me.

Example 2: I read all the time that it's so easy to rebuild atties and Vivi Nova heads that anyone could do it. Same situation, I've never seen it done so I doubt I'll try it until that point.

I'm personally not interested much at all in buying much at a vape meet. I can usually get most of what I need from Sam competitively priced enough for me. If I want to try something that he doesn't carry, I get it online and then tell him about it. If it's something I like and can see buying more of in the future, he does what he can to get it. I'm not necessarily married to him as my sole supplier but I do feel a certain amount of loyalty to him. Surely most people have their favourite vendors to source certain things from.

The social aspect IS appealing to me. So is the trying new things and learning new things.

If it was more of a workshop scenario, I definitely wouldn't mind seeing business being done. Everyone will always need a few cartos or a new atty or a battery or want to get their hands on the latest PV or you name it. But if a vendor is "sponsoring" the meet up, it just feels more like a sales seminar to me and it loses much of the attraction.

I don't mean to say that there should be no vendors there. In fact, it wouldn't bother me to see several. A howto or two, availability of various products, maybe even a door prize now and then, and I would think a lot more people would have an easier time making it more than quarterly.

I hope I didn't give the impression that THEY were wanting to put together or sponsor a meet up...that was all me. I had mentioned that 1 had happened and some of us were looking to do another and said it would be cool if they were able to attend. I've been trying for a while to get the one partner to drop by here, but I know he's busy and like someone else said...not everybody is into a forum.

Anyway...my point was that I'm stoked for more local options and from what I can ascertain they plan on having a pretty wide array of products.

As far as the "how to" type thing...that's a great idea.

I was just spewing with the monthly meet in mind. Wasn't trying to discourage anything but rather suggest what might make it more attractive on a larger scale than just the handful of us that spend our time here.

I'd love to help to get a bigger, more active community going on and agree that baby steps may be the best way to start out. The planned quarterly meet ups sound like the most doable at this point. Much more than that and there would surely need to be some kind of value add to entice the masses. That's what got me thinking about small workshops and the like.

As far as a website, I'd be happy to host that. Can't promise a ton of time to devote to it but I can certainly provide the hosting and forum software and all that good stuff.

If the immediate need is to just get search engines to pick up on something, we can probably accomplish that here. A few posts with likely search keywords in them could easily land someone here without a problem. Simply mentioning things regarding vaping and vaping supplies in Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska would probably get picked up well by search engines. You could even mention things like ejuice, or e-juice, or whatever it's supposed to be. Vape friendly places in Omaha may also help. Where is the nearest e-cigarette store in Omaha, Nebraska? Somebody stop me!

Just noticed at the bottom of the page, that you can do a tag cloud. That's got SEO written all over it!

Sometimes you guys speak a foreign language...oh sure...all the letters look like the alphbet I grew up with, but then y'all start talking gibberish.
I see the seo thing....its pretty?? I don't have a clue.

I met up with the 2 guys the other night and they were looking at everybody's phone and saying crap like "I can do licorice on this phone".
And I know(guessing) It's some operating system or nimbo-cumulus cloud thingy....but they may as well have been speaking Portuguese for what i got out of it.

You got me rolling! SEO = Search Engine Optimization. It's the practice of including words on a web page that you think will increase the chances of that page ranking higher in search results with your intended audience in mind. So to try to get Nebraska Vapers to land here, you would include the keywords that you think they would most likely enter into a Google search on the page.

The tag cloud is an old fashioned, albeit reasonably successful, way of doing that.

Oh boy, you are a hoot!

Yup, sniffed it today and so far it smells delightful! It's darkening up too. Going to give a few more days and roll around in it!

So I gather there would be no mention of the almighty "hawkizefan" to direct folks here in this cloud/whatever thingy considering It's a Nebraska thing?

Yeah, I'm not for sure (100%) what is going to happen with a page, but I am looking into all, here and there, right now. Going to see what options are there, exactly, and get everybody's input as to what all we are going to want on there. I'm guessing it's going to be somewhat small and limited at first..but will grow over the course of the next few months. I almost always have one of the laptops in front of me, so construction and maintenance wont be too much of a concern for me.

In fact, you are going to need to change your user name in order to be compliant with the new site, if it gets there. Else you will be banned!!!! Muahahahaha!

Like I said, the offer's there for no cost hosting. Happy to do it.
