Still fiddling with the VV box. Havent had the guts to really crank it up, but its performing the way i would want and expect. Set it, and with an lnline, volts under load are 0.05 to 0.1v of what you set it at. This is on cartos of 2.4 and 3.2ohms. I tried a couple DCC's while at sam's they worked well, but dont have any in line data for them.

Without the Inline, you are adjusting to taste, but im am putting an inline on there tonight, and putting some marks on there to make adjusting on the fly abit simpler. Overall for the price if you have a set of 14500's laying around, you cant go wrong.

See, now you made me want one even more so..I actually think I would be a fan of dialing to taste, rather than messing with numbers. At least here and there. Glad you got something that is going to work great for you! Can't wait to give it a try, myself :D

sweet......

And now...let the obsessive/compulsive buying begin. Think of all the things you must have to go with that...along with another for backup...lol.
I need to see that thing one day.

Yup, you will want to accessorize. Even though you may not see that now, you just opened up the gateway to more mods, more problems! Lol

Ah, don't need much to go with it, got the ViVI nova but haven't filled a tank yet.

Hawk ill bring it next time I see you, I still need to check out that pile of you you got.

Tar, I hear you are the Nova expert, what is it I should know before I fire my up for the first time?

Not a whole lot really. I recommend cleaning everything well with PGA or vodka, the head if nothing else benefits from a good soak. If you were lucky enough to get one with long wicks, I'd recommend trimming them just a little longer than it would take to reach the sides of the tank. Make sure the little "hat" inside is pushed down only to the little ridge it sits on so it's not choking off the wicks. I usually don't push it down that far but instead let the top cap do it for me. That will help greatly to avoid leaks. Make sure the caps are on tight.

Dry burn the booze off and fill her up. There may be a very brief breakin period depending on how thick your juice is.

Thicker, darker juices seem to get things dirtier faster so if that's what you're working with, you may benefit from a rinse and dry burn every fill or so.

It's a real good tank for the money for sure.

Oh, if you can check the resistance of the heads before using them, you'll probably save yourself alot of heartache. Especially the ones that are marked 2.4. Every one I've tried is actually anywhere from 2.6 to 3.2. Else, set your VV on the low side and work up to your sweet spot.

I hear the heads are incredibly easy to recoil/rewick but have yet to try it.

I was looking around for wire on Friday and then had to run out for an alcohol related emergency. Vapoligy.com is the only place I can remember that I found it. I think a couple bucks for 10 feet if memory serves.

I was looking around today.
Madvapes has nichrome in 32, 34, and 36 but only had 36 in stock.
Mountain oak vapor has silica wick in stock.
Vapor..... has both wick and wire(kanthal I think) sold together in equal footage...$5 for 2 feet as well as other length options.
Can't seem to find any locally(yet) but maybe.

I have rebuilt my nova several times now and it is easy. I have only used nichrome wire tho. I have seen good things about the kanthal and would like to try it out. One thing to keep in mind is the resistance per foot. Kanthal is brand name owned buy a company that makes all sorts of resistance products and their products can contain various components. I would assume that if you ordered it from a Site that tailors to vaping it should work. However, a data sheet would be nice.

The short wicks work way better to "load" the wick much faster. Don't unwind or frey the ends of the wick. There is about the same break in time as the ce2. I don't dry burn these. The resistance wire is held in place with a silicone plug. If you want to rebuild this unit you need to reuse this plug. If you dry burn the wire will burn through the plug. I hope they will start selling the plugs only. How many times can I use plug in a post? Somebody stop me...

Ill haveto check them out! You can check my link a few bages back for a "made for vaping" site that seems a bit high priced (before coupon codes) but seems to always have both in stock.

Yeah, there seems to be more nichrome floating around, but I'm set on kanthal. Althoug, it wouldn't be a bad thing having both. I checked with the hobby places, like Hobby Town and Hobby Lobby RC and none seem to have either. Pretty sure you can get all kinds of wick material at Hobby Lobby and Michaels though. Most electrical places here don't really cater to ho-hum hobbiests. But I'm sure there has to be a local option that wuld have one or the other..

Do either of you do anything like take the silcone cap of and apply a few drops of liquid before you use it the first time?

Don't even think you need to remove the cap. I do that here and there as well as other clearos..

I do this when I try out a new coil. No need to fill the tank just to find out it doesn't work. I don't think this is a needed step it won't hurt. You could accidentally flood the air supply and it could start gurgling. But that should go away.

But yeah, I haven't had much luck with longer wicks and voltage above 4.2 or so. They either don't feed the coil fast enough or give a bland taste. Never had a problem with long wicks running at 3.7v or a bit higher though. So definitely trim the wicks, especially for higher voltage. Also, as Tar said, check the ohms if possible. Oddly, my 2.4s measure close if not spot on, but my 2.8s are closer to the 2.4 range.

4.2 has been my top voltage limit with the 2.4 and 2.8 heads as well. It doesn't seem like it likes to be above that for some reason. At 4.3 I start getting more burnt hits. It's fine with me for the most part as that high wattage vaping is well past my sweet spot so far.

Dry burn was an incorrect usage of terminology on my part. If you're burning the booze off, it's not really dry burning per se.

The silicone plug you're speaking of, that's not the little "cup" the coil sits in, is it? I haven't even taken a head apart yet but I wonder if that cup is even necessary other than to keep the legs from touching the sides.

I guess I seem to want more wattage than "normal" for the most part. Well I guess the fact that I vape ,primarily, tobacco liquids is the answer to that. I will get a couple of great tasting pulls at 5+ volts with the Vivi, but not after that. I would only be able to take 2 or 3 pulls every half-hour or so without burning my throat. So, for now, I keep the Vivi filled with non-tobacco liquids and just go with the flow.

Now can't say I like things as hot you you guys do, but 3.0 carto with 5 volts, its a very very good thing. This is vaping like I haven't experienced.

Also learning to adjust by sound, turning it up just until it starts to crackle

Welcome to the world of 8+ watt vaping! It's a cozy place, isn't it?
