I am a huge collector of Copper Cups (the classic cups and balls magic) . Patina is something collectors love to talk about. Patina develops easier on copper. You just have to clean it and allow your natural oils to develop the patina. Constant use or contact with the hands should do it. Some even use cat urine.
While there are many solutions available that bring about patina... natural patina is still better. Liver of Sulfate is one. Brass and Bronze will also get patina as well as Pure silver ... BUT it will take a bit longer!
