Thank you for that. Not only did I literally burst out laughing, but I read my first thread to the wife. Her reaction, she said, "LOL".

Can't really advise you on the marital thing, and I know you meant it as received. Could use a post like this first thing every morning. Are you available? Thank you for sharing. Very inspirational. Congrats! Best to you!

Hi, I've been vaping now for 17 days...

Sheesh. She's kind of jumping the gun ain't she? You just got started. Maybe whether or not vaping is temporary or permanent can wait? How 'bout a little happy over the "quit smoking" part?

You know, there is evidence in studies that some of us (not all but a significant fraction) are genetically predisposed to very powerful nicotine addictions that we may not be able to quit. This may not be a choice for us (given my history, I suspect I'm one of that percentage). Short of some new (non-suicidal that is... I'm looking at you Pfizer) treatment that cures addiction, I'm probably going to crave nicotine the rest of my life. So... now what? Vape or risk cancer?

Hm.

Hard choice.

NOT.

(Yeah, I know, switching to vaping after years of smoking isn't going to magically eliminate all the damage I did and my risk of cancer is higher because of all those years of smoking. But I have stopped doing further damage and my body will reverse some of the damage. I've reduced my risk. Which is certainly better than continuing to increase my risk repeatedly throughout the day, every day.)

Frankly, I'd have to say the fact you have young kids takes precedence. You've switched to something that will reduce your risks of an early death. You want to be around as long as you can manage for your kids right? If that means vaping until you're 90, you've still increased your chances of getting to be 90.

I agree with Rickajho. It's way, way too early to even think about that whole issue. Some folks around here are aiming to cut their nic or are cutting their nic and aiming for quitting nicotine entirely. And good for them. Me, I'm just happy I escaped cigarettes. Some years from now, I may consider trying to wean myself off nicotine too. Or not. Ain't gonna be next week. Or this year for that matter. Check back with me in 2020 or so. :)
