should we be stocking up just in case

Question.

Was Blu manufactured prior to 2007?

If not than we MAY have a big part of BT on our side... At least as far as hardware goes.

This may or may not answer your question, as the site doesn't give an exact date on when Blu's first started production, but according to that, the United States got its first taste of vaping in 2007. Not explicitly mentioned as Blu's, but it's there.

It does state however that Blu was acquired by...Lollilard, was it? Going off of memory of a precursory read here. So that helps, I would think.

I don't see how this thread could get hijacked by just one simple question, beachbum. However, this is a very strange thread to ask that question in. I have only seen one attempted hijacker so far, and if you ignore his posts and everybody's reaction to them, this thread gets much, much shorter. You know who I am talking about. But I digress...

Stocking up. That sounds like survivalist lingo. Kinda creeps me out. I might own a gun (you don't know me!), but if it really comes down to needing a stockpile of ammo I don't want to be here to need it. Zombie apocalypse is a different matter entirely, but I am going off topic again. Stocking up on vaping supplies...sure, why not. Don't be a jerk and buy more juice than you can use in a couple of years. I have enough for the next year at my current rate of 16-18mg, that could last another year if can ween myself down to 6-8mg in a few months. That might not work for you, but many long time vapors on this forum have cut back that far, some even vape 0%. However, I would much prefer not quitting vaping entirely. Also, if you are really worried about a ban/regulation, maybe now is the time to seriously consider a gradual cutback of your nicotine percentage. Getting politically involved while you can is step one. Buying some e-liquid to last a few months is either step two, or you can just wait and see what happens. Whatever the legal outcome is, a very gradual nicotine decrease is more appealing than going from vaping a few ml's of 24-36mg daily back to smoking cigarettes. Nothing would make BT happier. My advice-be proactive, in any way possible, don't pick just one way. That's not just in regards to vaping, it's a life lesson I have to remind myself often.

If not now, when? That one is going on my tombstone.

You long post reads like a "company sales brochure" for this company to me. And suggesting that a "for profit" company some how equates to CASAA and what they do for all vapers, is just mind boggling to me.

Well i copied it from their site so in fact it is a sales brochure, well, the copied part is. So you don't understand what i'm saying when i say "they're my CASSAA". Others seem to have understood !. You're suggesting that i think intellicig are trying to do what CASSAA do. The post was intended to point out that this company does a lot of research and most other companies do not. CASSAA is not a vendor. I don't see how this can boggle your mind. Basically if vendors did do research then departments like the FDA would have a better understanding of the vaping world to start with. But seeing as they don't then the FDA can only work with the information that they've got or are given by all those companies trying to get vaping banned. The more support the vaping world has the better. The fact that companies make a profit means they could afford to defend the vaping world. You make it sound like intellicig are wasting their time because they will never be as good or as big as CASSAA. I didn't realise it was a competition. What intellicig are doing is a good thing. Why don't you ask CASSAA what they think of what intellicig does instead trying to make them look stupid.

Personal checks? Money orders? Cashiers check? It would take longer but there would not be a problem with those.

That would be the same as sending "cash" through the mail with all the resulting risks associated with it. And as I also stated, if nicotine was strickly controled, then it would not matter what the financial restrictions were.

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum.
First I would like to say thanks to Vaping I have quit smoking! Already weened myself down to 0-6 mg. And would not mind at all at 0mg. I can actually say "I Vape For Fun" and most of all I love the MODS.
As I read about how the "GOV" wants to ban ecigs it makes me think, how is that even possible? How can they ban a piece of equipment? It would be like banning a flashlight, or remote control for a TV, or an epi pen, or even better a cell phone!
Yes they can tax the air usage and control that, but if someone wants just a cellphone to listen to music how is that bad? Why should that be banned? I can own a cell phone and not have a plan. So what i'm getting is yes they can control the nicotine part and tax that but the MODS? How does that affect anyone. So should they ban all batteries? And if it's the vaping part that they want to make sound bad for you then there are many other things that need to get banned.

Household iron. They make steam.
Nebulizers which are commonly used for the treatment of cystic fibrosis, asthma, COPD and other respiratory diseases.
I am a chef does that mean they will ban steamers and the whole sautee process? Simmering? boiling water? because those are all forms of vapors that we have been inhaling for years and years. (I myself for 27 years at large amounts of hours and close range. In a kitchen.)
All in all its the same old crap! the government saw something good and they want their cut! As for me I would be just as happy to not smoke Nicotine. I don't mind 0mg e-juice. After all we can all agree the reason was to STOP SMOKING! Well I have. Thanks to Electronic cigarettes. Maybe its the word Cigarettes in ecig that confuses everyone? So here is an idea lets find another name for them. Lets not call them ecigs anymore. Personal Vaporizers is fine with me. lol What would you like to call they?

So I guess I will not stock up. I can still buy VG and flavorings. So I am fine with that!

I very rarely use the ignore feature on forums because I think most people will eventually add something to the discussion, but I did in this case.

As this thread is in the New Members forum, this might be a handy learning moment. "Ignoring" a poster on ECF is a way to avoid wading through posts from a member you find is consistently putting out misleading, offensive, off topic or useless posts. The "ignored" posts will still show up in threads, but with just a link if you want to open them up and read them. This can make a messy thread short and useful once again.

To "ignore", you go to the Settings link at the top of the ECF window. Scroll down the left side until you find "Edit Ignore List" and choose it. Fill in the box with the member name, and it will show possible options as you type so you don't make a mistake. Click OK.

Hope this helps new members learn how to manage reading ECF threads a bit. You should also take some time to read this - New Members Information so you can get the most out of ECF.

That said, if you're concerned, stock up a little for peace of mind, particularly nicotine liquid!

Those of us that frequent ecf have ample opportunity to be proactive. So I'm not all that worried about us. The FDA can create inconveniences, but if we don't cover our bases it's our own damn fault. A $50 bottle of nic will make about 500 bottles of juice - YMMV.

But what about those that still smoke? How will e-cig regulations effect their ability to stop smoking? Will a "mind altering drug" become their only option? It amazes me that society is led to believe that vaping is bad, but CHANTIX is fine.

Seriously, i did not know that is how to use the ignore feature, Ive never used it. Although you probably wasn't trying to inform me in particular. But thanks for the information.;)

Yes that was my point... BT owns Blu... And from my research their product was not introduced until 2009... Which would mean Lollilard would fight tooth and nail to keep it's product legal

Doesn't matter if Blu existed before 2007. What matters is if the carto used by Blu existed. Or would they have to go back to the old atty & cartridge system that preceded cartomizers.

Okay, let's look at this from a sensible approach. Let's just say they banned the E-CIG. All they would be banning would be the electronic devices. So, if you are like me and have 4 rebuildable atomizers already, oh well. They can't ban tobacco because it is a legal substance to have nationwide. In the U S you can even grow your own tobacco and the FEDS can't say a thing. So if worse came to worse you grow your own tobacco or get natural tobacco shipped to your house from Virginia or somewhere and you would extract the NIC yourself which is real easy to do. They know this and that is why it would be impossible to do this. What they will do is regulate it so they will require companies to produce the NIC liquid in a controlled fashion. Meaning instead of being able to get 100MG juice you probably would only be able to get 6 to 12 MG of juice and they would tax us and make it just as expensive as a cigarette. This is about all they would do. Walgreens, Walmart all of them sell them now and making money off of it, so their lobbyists would go in and say not ah....We are safe, probably better if they regulate it anyways. All we can trust is Wizard Labs, so we need more anyways.

The FDA will never completely ban e-cigs, first they have no grounds or concrete evidence that it's bad for you. Second, congress would NEVER let them! Congressmen from every state across this greedy country will push to regulate but not ban. This way they have a way to push extreme taxes on all e-cig related items which is what they've wanted all along. I'm sure they'll make a press release saying it's to keep it out of the hands of minors but it's really so they can push big tobacco type taxes on these products.

That's a very optimistic point of view. Doesn't seem like you are too worried. If we don't have 4 rebuildable atomizers like you do, we might be SOL. If nicotine e-liquids are made illegal, making your own will be a PITA, most vapers won't bother. I wouldn't be making bets on what our government will do in regards to e-cigarette usage, even if I had a few billion to spend on campaigning and pocket filling. Don't sit back and do nothing about it, be proactive! It doesn't cost anything to join CASAA, and mailing out some letters to your representatives is very cheap. If you're not worried about the federal government, at least pay attention to local bans and regulations. They are real, and they are happening.

Edit: I didn't mean to pick on twistedtimes alone, there are many posts on this thread and others from people that don't see what is happening locally. Public bans have already been put in place in a few places, much worse is on it's way through final legislation. Don't make assumptions on what you think the powers that be would do, it has nothing to do with what is right or reasonable.

Can you provide a link to 1) extracting nicotine from leaf 2) where I can buy leaf?

    Thanks!
