It wouldn't take much to make insecticide non vapable. Look at denatured alcohol.

That would also make it unuseable in the laboratory, and lab supply would be where I looked first.

As for making your own, the simplest way I have seen is to simply steep tobacco in PG and strain the tobacco back out.

Getting purer stuff from tobacco yourself than that would be a lot more involved than most would be willing to do.

Personally though I think we have made enough show of force recently we are probably going to be ok, and I doubt we'll see a ban. Even if things went bad, the time for public comments on the proposed regulation, and further time before it goes into effect should give me plenty of time to stock up if the need arises as long as I pay attention and know beforehand. That is my main reason for coming here, to keep up to date on that exact issue and not be caught unprepared by regulations going into effect before I hear about them.

Isn't there some debate as to whether that would produce any significant amount of nicotine?
Has anyone ever done this and then measured the resulting nicotine content?

Well, I have a feeliing that if they were to restrict nic juice, they would not leave a gaping hole of unrestricted access to lab quality nicotine available to any old vaper that wants a fix.

And I don't think steeping tobacco is an effective or economical method of obtaining nicotine. I could be wrong and am more than willing to follow any links proving otherwise........

When is the fda going to anounce their decision
Best answer: Nobody knows
Second best answer: Maybe sometime during the summer

As far as what they are going to announce, it is not "their decision" but rather a proposal for potential regulations.
After the regulations have been proposed (whenever that happens) there will be a public comment period.
And then the FDA will supposedly adjust their regulations prior to eventually making them official.

Stacee,
I have one question...
Why are you on this forum ?

You say that you don't care either way, and that you vape all day.
So- what is the point of your dissertation and interest in whether we should stock up,or not.

I was a 40 year PAD, Marboro Red smoker. I was addicted to cigarettes young...before they even started telling us that ciggys =death.
I was killing myself....and try as I did...and I did...I was addicted.
Philip Morris addicted me...but they were not coming to MY rescue. I was going to die a smoker...making 'money for the man'.
Wait...isn't that a SLAVE !
Well, I found Vaping....and Vaping STOPPED me smoking, and saved me.
Now...'Someone's' wants to take that away from you, me and others who might stop smoking.
To Hell with That- I'm going to fight the man !

I'll fight, you'll fight, we'll ll fight, but will lose by unanimous decision. The fight is rigged by the judges.

I believe I read over in the nic extraction forum that the best guess for max nicotine content is around 1 or 2 mg. Don't quote me on that, though.

There is (some debate) and the results were not very encouraging, as I recall.

Pretty much everything has been tried.

You might be surprised I make no assumptions when it comes to the incompetence of government. Of course if it became widely know and used and came to their attention I'm sure they would shut it down.

And I don't think steeping tobacco is an effective or economical method of obtaining nicotine. I could be wrong and am more than willing to follow any links proving otherwise........

I said it was the simplest I didn't say it was the best. Here's a recipe that uses water and a seed crystal/glass rod.. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_to_extract_nicotine_from_tobacco

Were I to want to actually do it I would likely learn more about the chemistry of it, and who better to learn from than R.J. Reynolds..http://www.sciencemadness.org/talk/files.php?pid=223992&aid=16157

Then there are the patents files for different processes.. nicotine extraction - Google Search
