Just checked mine is v1 #57
And the v1 does chew up the battery sleeve if you insert the battery from the top first. The top contacts have rounded edges, but the bottom ones are sharp on the edges. If you insert from the bottom first and then push in the top it will not chew up the battery. The best way is to do as stated and take a bit of emery cloth and knock off the sharp edges on the bottom contacts. I do notice on mine if I fly through the watts, sometimes the .0 setting doesn't adjust. To explain, if I'm at 12w and I rapid advance, at about 50w it will change to 50.9 and then will only advance or lower by 1.0 It will not let me change the .0 I can get around it by slow click advancing, before I get to the hangup, but it seems like it is a card bug. Other than that I have very happy with it. If I want to vape at 65w I just stop it at 64.9. It has never got warm on me, and have been using it all day (12 hrs) and still have 60% battery life left. Using a 3.8 build at between 60-80w.

I actually noticed this as well. Then I read in the manual that above 50 watts it will only adjust by 1 watt increments instead of .1 like below 50

Don't drop this unit. My dog tripped me in the dark this morning and I dropped onto carpet from about 3' up. Would not turn on. Had it since Thursday. :(

Will play with it tonight some (as I was already late for work). Likely will have to go for repair, and I'll bet they won't want to repair fall damage.

Oh man, your kidding , that sucks .

Of course. Regardless, it tells me that the internal build isn't all that strong. A short fall onto the carpet shouldn't dislodge any wires or anything in it.

Agreed , thats very concerning , some said this thing is built like a tank , maybe not. The only mod that i have that can take repeated drops is the Cana so far.

I want a box mod thats nearly bullet proof on the outside because drops are going to happen .

The case is a good strong build. Feels like a tank in your hand. Can't wait to see what's inside. Bet it's full of hot glue.
No sir, clean as a baby's bum.

Ended up trying out parallel 30awg 8 wrap in my quest for more kanthal, surface area, and being able to use some more watts since my other builds (or maybe my lungs) didn't seem ideal for more voltage. Really nice vape at 40 watts, will keep easing it up a little. May try same thing but 10 wrap next go. Build pics are at

100watts is pretty overkill compared to what I'm used to, will keep tweaking on different builds though and experimenting. Just a lot different and more options then mechs at .8 ohm singles and .4 ohm duals. The battery life is rocking. Ordered a JWrap to cover up some of this v3 branding and potential improve grip; don't want any K9 induced warranty claims, hope that get worked out.

Interesting. Yours is different than mine, though. Thinking mine is the V2 (s/n in the 1400s). The battery box doesn't show the metal underneath. Took screws out of the top right and bottom right and the plastic parts wouldn't come out.

It appears that the top contacts simply had a spring move (they're just friction fit) and when I pushed it back into place, the mod fired up.

Hopefully no more problems.

got mine and put a Tugboat cln at .4 dual w/26ga kanthal, tried it up to 60 watts, nice vape but a tad to hot for my taste so i backed it down....gonna take some getting used to.....also noticed my blk box does not have a serial number on the bottom? unless it's painted over but the insides look like the V2 with the sled with the round copper contacts.....got two more atty's to build for it tonight and gonna see what i can do....after i get sorted i'll post some pic's....fired rite up w/ no probs :vapor:

ok first good build, CLT w/Drip-Top 26ga dual w/kanthal .5 wicked w/Cotton & Cellu.

tried it at 80 watts and it was just a bit too hot for my taste but do-able with very wet wicks, 75 watts seems about rite still a bit warm but comfortable....the Drip-Top made the difference imo... without it i could only go 60 watts without feeling the fire of Hell :D

tried the Tugboat, just not enough airflow, but worked well at 40 watts for my taste with a .4 dual build....now i'm gonna vape awhile and then build the 454 big block and the Tobh.....think i got a nic buzz already
