Anyone have both the 213 and the P4Y IPV5? The 213 is a nice looking mod, getting a little tired of the weight of my IPV5 too.

Don't have the IPV5 but if you're looking for a size comparison this one is significantly smaller than the ipv5. I think just length the ipv5 measures to about 100mm, this ones at 88

While shopping for a GOLD version today I made the mistake of handling the only gun-metal copy they had in the local B&M. I liked it and took it home with me. I bought two new fully charged batteries with it so knowing I had a few tanks without a mod to sit on at home I unpacked the 213 and set it up with a NiFe70 built tank.

After reading the resistance and setting my usual temp I fired it - nothing. Recalling that there is a 'preheat' setting I adjusted it up to the usual drive I use for my tanks - 25W and gave it 1sec. Burnt hit! Yuk!

After playing with the preheat and temperature settings I came to the realization that the temperature setting was USELESS:confused: on the 213. Only the preheat controlled the vapor production. I could get a cloud of vape out of 200F if I held the fire button long enough.

After a hand full of burnt hits I pulled the deck and fired the 213 (still in TC mode) and watched in horror as my coil started glowing:evil: while the preheat was set to 15W and 0.05sec!!:danger:

Thinking that it was just the NiFe70 fouling it up, I tried 2 other tanks, a NiFe30 (similar results) and I tried a Ti built tank in Ti mode. Again, the temperature setting had no effect, the vape was completely controlled by the pre-heat setting and oddly 300F gave less vapor production than 200F. (nether should give much of ANY but that is besides the point.) In each case it was reading the correct resistance (I have the wire type, TCR and resistance printed on a label on the side of most of my tanks)

    • no real time temperature display (lots of battery information)
    • no actual temperature regulation (three different tanks and wire types)
    • it is lighter and looks and feels better than the less expensive Cuboid
It would appear that I have a defective unit. While going in/out of the pre-heat menu there were a handful of times where the display was completely garbled upon entering the sub menu.

While I might expect this sort of thing from eLeaf, Joytech and others but after reading this thread I had high hopes for Sigelei and the 213.

The initial problems I had with TC were due to my own mistakes. After putting the atomizer on you must hold the up and down buttons simultaneously to bring up the resistance menu. Click read resistance for initial baseline then repeat the process and select lock resistance. Set your preheat and temp and you should be good to go.

Like I said, mine must be defective as setting the resistance had no effect (or setting the temperature ether).

Complete fail. I'll return it to the B&M tomorrow. Sadly it was their only one so a replacement won't be available.

Do me a favor, set yours to 200F and see if you get vapor. Hold the fire button longer than usual and then try a draw and see how yours works for you.

I am having the same problems on one of my units too. Same problems as you with the garbled screen and the TCR stopped working all together. Locked, Unlocked, Nothing matters. Mine actually failed while mid vape and scorched my throat and lungs. I have videos and pictures I have sent to sigelei warranty service.

Kind of bummed here. My first day with the 213W was flawless. But the last 2 days I have had misfires. I think it has to do with what someone posted earlier.. pressing the fire button at the exact moment the screen goes out. But man it happened a few times. I must have perfect 13 second timing between my vapes. Never knew. So cruel Sigelei :p

That's how mine started. Than the garbled screen than the TCR failed. Was working ok before all this.

It really blows. I hope Sig fixes this issue because it's a dang shame if this mod were to have a piece'o'crap chip inside. Wonder if a firmware update, IF it is able to be upgraded, would it fix all these mishaps. If not I'm sure by now Sig has heard all of these complaints and I HOPE the next batches will be without issues. I really really like this mod.

Well I have been in contact with them. They wanted to see a video! I sent them pictures and than video of the screen goin garbled like I posted above. As soon as they saw the picture I posted they should have had me send the mod right in. Sent the video yesterday and they have not responded. I really didn't want to start posting stuff like this but the device can fail and you can get a burnt throat like I did. OriginVape told me that they would give me a refund (they are out of stock) but Sigelei needs to address these issues. I LOVE this mod and really want it fixed and safe for all of us vapers. Cheers.

Yep. They are awesome. They actually had the 213 cheaper than 3fvape and are only about 25 minutes from where I live. Great people. I look to them first over other stores. If they have what I'm looking for I get it there.

Ahhh so I'm not alone. Sadly mine was broken right out of the box. While I can blame the 1st dry hit on myself having the pre-heat to high and long, all further failures attempting to vape I blame on Sigelei.:danger:

The last tank I tried was a Moonshot which has a build that I normally drive with 50J using a SX350J. With the TCR plugged in, resistance read and verified/locked I started with 200F, 10W and 0.01sec pre heat.

I found that somewhere between 15-20W if I simply held the fire button I could get a vape out of the Moonshot! (I hope we can all agree that with ~95% VG juice, 200F should produce little if any vapor)

Outside of having the distinction of being the only mod I've ever bought that is a failure right out of the box, I like the size, weight and advertised feature set. I really wanted this thing to work.

I don't get a jumbled pre-heat screen every time I activate the menu but hopefully often enough to grab an image of it and send it to Sigelei.

    :glare:

EDIT Update just for grins I surfed over to Steam Engine and loaded up the TFR values for NiFe - the TFR mode seems to work!

With a preheat of 25W @ 0.01sec and temperature setting of 200F I can hear the mod actually regulating the temperature. Move the set temperature up to a mild vaping setting of 390F and I was getting a vape as expected.

To conclude: it would appear that with my unit the fixed presets and TCR settings are broken but the mod might be salvaged by using the TFR settings to control the vaping temperature in TC mode. (I have BOTH TCR1 and TFR1 set for NiFe48)

Yep I can get TFR to work (sometimes) My TCR was also working and than just failed. The default ss316 mode also worked fine during my testing. I'm not willing to take the chance on getting a scorching hot vape and burn myself again. Sigelei needs to fix these things. Hell My cuboid and Yihi board mods works flawlessly and so do my DNA 200 mods. If you have these problems with the mod I would not use it. Good luck Vape safe.

Well, i own one for a week or so now.
The look and feel of a device is great. It is pocket friendly unit and for that all kudos to Sig. Except for occasional missfire i haven't had any problems with mine yet, but i have noticed couple flaws in the chip design so let's bring them on.
Firstly, it does drain batteries much faster then for example Sigelei 100w Plus. I am not into TC all that much, but i know how it should be. Sig 213 goes nice with Nickel coils, but with anything else temp is about to be useless. Constant adaptation of settings and different vape every time i press the switch render this device useless with anything else except for Nickel and Kanthal. Batteries in power mode are draining some 30% faster then in 100W plus, and as they go lower, even on regular 30W setup, vape feeling changes as they drain below 30%.
Preheat on kanthal does not work as it should. After the screen goes down, first draw will be without preheat, and then ever next one while the screen is on will have preheat. I would much more like if it's vice versa because of those fused claptons and the way they cool down when not in use so first heating up takes a while. For now i am mixed feelings about this one. If i was to say thumb up or down, i really couldn't give any thumbs. Yes device works, and there's a lot of nice options to play with, but on the other side there is just so many flaws with the device as well...
And yes, the biggest flaw is their advertisin on 213W. The most i was able to get out of device was 165W and that lasted for 2-3 seconds. Why are they doing that?
