Picked up a sigelei 50w VR2 from behappyvape.com, and I'm very happy with the device so far. As an owner of three Sigelei Mini 30w boxes as well as a Sigelei 100w Box, I'm a big fan of Sigelei products. They are well-built and have a modern, attractive look.

The 50w VR2 is no different, having a superb build quality. The device feels solid in the hand, and nothing rattles when the device is shaken. The battery door is magnetic, but swings rather than removing completely like the other models. The silicone cover fits perfectly, and has an opening for the battery vent holes. The square buttons looked a little strange at first, but are very responsive and not overly clicky. Without the cover the device looks very modern, with the wavy stainless colored lines contrasting the black case perfectly.

The device reads resistance accurately, and will fire down to 0.2ohm. Battery life is good, and should last me throughout the day with my Silverplay running at 35w. The device can be charged via USB, and for once they did it right and put the micro usb port on the side at the bottom so that it can be charged without removing a leak-prone tank. tanks sit flush with the top of the box, which has a recessed, spring loaded 510.

Overall I couldn't be happier with the device! Could be a bit less expensive as it's closer in price to the 150w than the 30w, but it's a beautiful device and was worth the price to me!

Here's a picture comparing the size of the Sigelei Mini 30w, Sigelei 50w VR2, and Sigelei 100w.

The Sigelei Mini 30w is a solid box and perfect for carrying, as opposed to the Sigelei 100w which doesn't fit my pocket or car cup holder nearly as well. The 50w VR2 is a little taller and wider than the 30w, but still perfectly mobile. If 30w is enough for you its a great device and I love the memory settings for switching between tanks, but since I got my Silverplay I wanted something mobile that could fire the dual coils higher than 30w.

Whatever you choose, you can't go wrong with a Sigelei!

Well the Sigelei 50w VR2 can't buck voltage, tried firing my Silverplay at 10w which should have produced no vape, but instead got a cloud. 10w on the Sigelei Mini (confirmed to buck) produced no vape.

Doesn't bother me, but anyone running a higher ohm clearo may want to think about the mini instead.

Still a great box for me using RTAs.

I've been using one for a couple of weeks now and love it. Definitely a nice upgrade from my clouper. Resistance readings are pretty accurate. Its been very reliable. Swapping out batteries is so much easier.

I only have a couple of small gripes. Like mentioned it won't buck. Resistance readings can be finicky. For example I have to pull out the center post on my lemo a bit for it to read properly. Still works better than mt dna 30 though. Having to turn the device back on when swapping batteries. Also my efest amr wont fit, too tall. My aw works fine, as do my vtc5s, he2, and Samsung.

I think that this device was a steal at $50. Seems really well built.

Cheer for the review, Treeburner. Couple of questions:

1. Does the resistance read to one or two decimal places? (ie. 0.3, or 0.32)
2. Does the wattage up/down go at warp speed after holding the button for a couple of seconds?

They're the only gripes I have with my Sig 150w, but it's been a champ despite that. The hinged door and USB charging are nice touches.

The Lemo takes awhile to settle down with a spring loaded 510. That's the atty, not the mod. The Lemo is great on my 100W because it has a reverse threaded pin instead of spring loaded. That's why it lives on that mod.

I'm thinking of adding a 100+ or 150W and a 50W to my collection.

Maybe a 30W as well as my cheap runaround device.

The wattage speeding up isn't as dramatic as it is on the Sigelei 100 and 150 where you can skip through 20w in half a second, it's much more usable.

As Btsmokincat responded, only one decimal place for resistance readings. Also has a visible battery indicator rather than percentage, which is fine by me considering how wonky my Sig 100's battery meter (in percentage) is.

Does anyone have both the sig 50w v2 and the ipv mini 2? Wondering how they stack up build quality wise.
I have both as you can see in the pictures above. The Sigelei 50 watt definitely has a better build quality. It feels solid, tight and more expensive than it is. The IPV Mini 2 looks like plastic. The battery cap feels like I could crush it and mine came with a poorly press fit 510 (see pics the Lemo is tilted!). However they both use the SX330 chip and both have performed flawlessly despite the Sig feeling like it's better quality. I fixed the tilt on the IPV and added a carbon fiber wrap so I'm much happier with it now.

My bad, I didn't see that before. Thanks for the reply.

As you have both, if you had to pick one, which do you think you'd go with? Just curious :)

I think obviously I'd pick the Sig 50. It's a stellar device. I think the only downside for me was the price at the time. I paid $80 for the Sig and $63 for the IPV.

Just to clarify there are some things I really do like about the IPV. The buttons have a very nice soft press, it's very comfortable to hold and it has the 5 wattage memory presets like the IPV and Sig 30 watt devices.

Most people report no 510 issues with the IPV, I was just unlucky. Honestly if you bought either one you would be happy. I just like the Sig better.

Thanks. I like everything about the Sig in comparison on paper except the IPV mini 2 has the extra 20w tagged on (but with a single 18650 I'm not sure how much use that would get anyways). I've found both devices around $55 so I think the Sig is going to win out for me.

After vaping on a 50w istick this week Ive decided to get the sig 50w instead of the 30w mini since there isnt that much difference in size and it will be nice having the extra 20w if needed. Now Im just trying to find the best price on it, would love to know where folks are finding them around $60.
