Some shots I took of the sigelei V5 this evening to show how a stainless steel one-piece 510/eGo threading looks. If the connector on other Chinese-made APVs is chrome or nickle plated soft brass the pieces will have a mirror finish. Stainless steel can have a mirror finish but this is usually reserved for flat pieces. It would be prohibitively expensive to provide a mirror finish on a stainless steel 510/eGo connector.

Well, speaking from personal experience & from observation, I much prefer US-made steel screws & engineering over a bit of Chinese adhesive..

But, to each his own...
Yeah. I don't mind vaping the equivalent of an AK-47. It does the job simply and with little maintenance. On the other hand, I drive a 60 year-old US made boat on the water. I've put thousands of US made silicon bronze screws into her and have replaced Philippine mahogany and US white oak. There isn't a single square inch of this boat that I haven't block sanded by hand and stained, varnished, or painted with my two hands. You could call that American worksmanship. I got Popeye arms from driving the screws. What works, works. I vape a Sigelei onboard.

Movie... so yeah, I know about American technology that works. That's a 1947 WW2 Chrysler Marine Engine (WW2 surplus). I know about Chinese technology that works, too. Click the little pic below.

The boat was stripped down. The glass was replaced and the brightwork was sanded down and re-stained with the original color.

Some of the work was done at my garage workbench in 40° winter weather.

I'm just saying that there is a lot more to life than vaping. Maybe even more than Diet Coke. Or Camel Light 99's (not shown).

I agree. I'm totally envious! The only thing I might like better than a boat might be an airplane. But then I've always been a sucker for airplanes; we lived right in the take-off pattern from Atlanta airport when I was 2.5-5 years old, and to this very day, the whistle of jet engines gives me shivers up my spine. But a nice boat... that would be so lovely! :thumb: Enjoy, and think of your envious vaper friends. ;)

Speaking of jets...
Have you ever been close to an F-22 Raptor when it takes off? That'll not only send shivers down your spine but it'll also make your bones rattle. Where I live, almost daily about 2pm, there are two of them that take off for the heavens. The noise is incredibly fantastic, way more so than a commercial jet and watching them point skyward and head toward space is a sight that must be seen, heard and felt. Technology is so cool...kinda like our Sigeleis (this sentence was included to keep the OP satisfied)

Nah... the only big jets I've ever heard take off were C5's... and they're pretty awesome! But obviously not fighters! But once, I did hear a sonic boom... that was AMAZING!

And I completely agree, I do not pine for "the old days" -- I love technology! I can look up prices online instead of having to trek to umpteen different stores, and technology is freeing me from cigarettes! Hallelujah and pass the ejuice! :D

If you're new, I'd say the v5 would amply fill your needs -- it's not a good idea to be sub-ohming and pushing amp limits before you have a solid understanding of just what you're doing and how dangerous it can be, if not done correctly. But for starting out, getting solid power to whatever tank or topper you decide on, the v5 is an excellent choice, and not a very expensive one either. I have one of the older v3's, and it was actually an upgrade device for me, from the iTaste vv3's, which are great, but 800 mAh is kinda lacking. But I've been thrilled and delighted with my v3 since I've had it. It's a great piece of hardware.

And BTW, welcome to vaping, the ECF, and this thread! Nice to meetcha! :thumb:

Im new here and a vape newbie altogether and am about to order a sigelei of some sort whats the best one? Im leaning toward the V5 but it also looks like the 30w is the latest and greatest? If this is the wrong spot please let me know.
What is your current vaping gear and how much power do you want? The Sigelei 30W is certainly the latest and greatest Sigelei APV on the market. The 50W is set to follow soon.

The V3 and the V5 offer the same performance but additional features are found on V5. The V3 and V5 are much smaller and easier to carry around than a 30W. The Sigelei V3/V5 is 3-15W or 3-6V and requires 2x18350 for full 15W output. Sigelei 30W is 7 to 30W and it will do it on a single 18650. If you like vaping less than 7.0W it won't work.

As a new vaper, my first PV is a V5. I do vape all day at anywhere between 8 and 10.5 watts. I use 18650 Sigelei batteries and they usually last all day. Decent price, they seem rugged enough since I have dropped it a couple times, and according to the manual will fire coils down to 1.2 oms.

I have been watching the price of the 20W qnd 30W and hope it drops some more when the 50 comes out and proves itself.

I dont currently have any vaping equipment at all, just now getting into it. Im really leaning toward the V5, it seems like a well-rounded unit that will last me quite some time. I do plan on buying a few other mods down the road but I just need to plant my flag and get something to get me going now so I can finally put down these analogs for good. Thanks for all the input.

Anybody ever force a miss fire by chain vaping? I was having miss fires and it seemed to stop when I turned the PV to look at the screen. Then I wondered if I was hitting it to quickly for the next puff. Or did I overheat the switch after puffing repeatedly?

What I have noticed when chain vaping is, sometimes I don't always push the fire button hard enough and since the on/off mode is the first menu item, I usually end up accidentally turning the on/off mode to off. On rare occasion, I've actually gone far enough into the menu to turn the power level up or down. I suppose you could consider that misfiring.

The v5 is a great choice to get the job done for a beginner or well experience vapor... And it's upgradable too! When/if you get to a point you need more power .. Buy a set of 18350s and you just upgraded your power output.

The v3 has been tremendously great for me.. It is my one and only mod I have - period! No worries of having a to have a back up for my back up.. because it's nearly indestructible I don't even consider it breaking. A few simple mods and it's the best value on the market hands down. Go with the stainless finish its the best.
