I far as I can tell all black and other color coated versions of V3 and V5 are identical to the brushed stainless steel versions. The only difference is color coating. There are also rainbow V5s that feature heat treated stainless steel. I have seen V3s which look to feature color coated aluminum tube sections. All V3s and V5s are 23mm in diameter and feature telescopic tubes.

sigelei Zmax Mini is not a V3. A V3 has a telescopic tube and the Mini does not. The Mini is single 18350 only. The mini may be more narrow than a V3 or V5 but it is the same length as both V3 and V5 fitted for 18350 with the shorter battery cap.

The V2 is 18650 only but will fit 2x18350 with the longer battery cap.

The sigelei Mini, the V2, and the V3 all use the same electronics. The V5 offers basically the same electronics as Mini, V2 and V3 but adds a ninth menu function and different firmware. In mid to late 2013 all new Minis, V2s and V3s received upgrades including removable top caps, new firmware and probably new board mountings that were introduced with the new V5 at the time.

BTW I don't like color coated mods. These coatings always wear off and make the device look prematurely worn out. This includes Provaris and (for that matter) firearms. Brushed stainless steel looks good for a very long time and doesn't show fingerprints. Coated firearms are OK if the user really doesn't want a little shine on the weapon to give away their ambush position.

Hi Yzer , I had 3 of the coated v3s , much beefier that my v3 stainless, weighed more for sure ( although I did not weigh it) built like a tank.....that's actually why I sold them .......also the sigelei coating was top notch., I ran a red one for almost a year and no visual sighns of wear .......gotta love the Sigs.

I agree, the durability is fantastic. Although the "chrome" is flaking off the fire button on my v3, it's still the most dependable vape I have. Still not totally decided on what kind, but when I buy another vv/vw mod, I'm certainly buying a Sigelei. May even give some of their mechs a try, considering the quality of the v3.

There is a difference with the coatings. From what I can tell, the aluminum is anodized which can be durable based on the thickness of the coating. It is actually a layer of the aluminum which is colored using acid and electricity, very similar in nature to heat treatment of ss.

Chrome and black chrome are plating and probably more likely to wear off as used. It depends a lot on the application. My black chrome Vamo took on the look of old worn jeans very quickly.

The brushed stainless is the most durable and surface scratches should be able to be brushed out.

I have the Zmax mini with various extensions and that is 22mm. The Provari beauty ring fits perfectly. I got the Zmax V3 from Mo'Vapes and it was the same diameter. The top caps were interchangable. I was kinda surprised with the inner tube but my understanding was that all zmax's had the same diameter, same threading.

The SMOK Zmax is 20mm, full size and mini.

To my knowledge the only Sigelei Zmax Minis that came with extension tubes were those that were special ordered for a co-op here on ECF years ago. These never appeared in B&M and online vape shops.

The Sigelei web site states a 23mm diameter for V3 and V5. That is the measurement I get on my calipers, too. Maybe these specs have changed. I'll measure the diameter of the new V5 I'll get from Kidney Puncher this week.

Spanish vape shops carry (or used to) sigelei mini zMax with an extension tube for 18650 or two 18350 batteries. I got mine from those.

My measurement scale was interchanging top caps so it'll be interesting. I do know they both fit the carry clips Sigelei sold too. There were 2 rounds of coops for the mini with extensions. The first round did not have a removeable top cap, but the 2nd round did. One of them had 3 different sizes of end caps for various battery sizes. The other round used extension tubes. There were examples found at b&m stores of mini's with extensions because round 2 had difficulty getting started because of that. The coop had to prove to Joker why it was needed. However, those must've been very limited runs (this is mainly for the record). FT is showing V2-V5 at 22.8mm.

I think a historical time line of the Zmax would be interesting. Looking at the current Sigelei page, all they offer is a black Zmax V5 now and they show 23mm. I betcha they are just rounding up for simplicity and there's no variation in tube size or threading.

The Sigelei website can be a little bamboozling.

SIGELEI Electronic Cigarette -

Go to the Sigelei main page linked above. Under Product Categories go to vv/vw mod and then to ZMAX V5. You will find both black and SS V5s.

Now go back to the Sigelei main page. Under Product Categories go to vv/vw mod and then to ZMAX. You will find Sigelei Zmax Minis, V2s, V3s and V5s in different colors and brushed SS.

On a second look I only see V3 in SS but I'm sure Sigelei will do any color for someone willing to place a minimum order. The site also confirms that Sigelei is using SS/aluminum tubes for the colored Minis and V2s.

Hi, new to the ecf. Stumbled onto this thread. I've been using 3 V3's SS for over a year. I love them. I have replaced the fire button switches on two of them I'll probably redo the third one next. I seen the Kidney Punch deal on the V5's, hard not to pick another one just to have. I run them on VW with Kanger Aerotanks.
