The Smax appears to have the V3 board in it.
It doesn't get sandwiched. 1OO% is on the outside of the tube.
I never knew what the difference was between smax and zmax.
You have to remove the top cap, install the E Carry, and then put the top cap back on. Right? How else could the E Carry stay on the outside of the tube without just sliding off? I'm pretty sure we both agree so far. We both know they aren't using pixey dust to keep it on there!
Now, with my E Carry removed and my top cap screwed down all the way, my Zmax 510 pokes up above my top cap slightly (looking at my Zmax sideways). But when my E Carry is installed and my top cap is screwed down as far as it will go, I can't see the top of my Zmax 510 any more from the side. Try it and see if this is the same for you. If it is, then you have to arrive at the conclusion that the E Carry must be sandwiched between the tube and the top cap.
I'm guessing that your topper is not affected by the extra height that the E Carry is adding to your top cap. For example, if you were using one of those skinny Clearomizers that uses the Ego threads, then the height of your top cap wouldn't matter since your top cap can go around the tank. If something similar applies to you, then I can see why you might assume that the E Carry doesn't change anything. However when you use a wider tank like I do that overhangs the top cap, it's a different story. What tank are you using when your E Carry is installed?
The only other thing I can think of that might make a difference is the round or flat style removable cap, but that only makes sense if the round top was shorter than the flat top (which I don't think is the case, but someone correct me if I'm wrong). All my Zmax's are flat tops. So now I'm curious... do you use round or flat tops (or both)?
I am a little confused myself. It appears the V2 Zmax has been refereed to as the Smax yet in other pictures I have seen the SMax is shown as a square mod like the Innokin vv/vw 3.0/4.0

The new late model V5 arrived today from Vapor Room 909 as advertised. I'm happy.I'd hate to tell ya'll what I paid for the first 2 V5's I bought retail.
If I could turn them back in and take the money and buy closeout V5's I could fill a 5gallon bucket with them. I wasn't a member here yet , so everything I bought was by my own volition.
I only have slant / round tops and only one is removeable. My friend has a flat top and I'll be visiting over xmas if you can hang on that long. At the time there were people in the group with round and flat tops though. Remember I told you they were magical? I have no idea why they stay where they are supposed to without sliding off. It's a great time waster to think about. It took me quite awhile to figure out to put them on, and then it was so simple that I felt stupid. Like a bad joke or one of those chinese finger pulling thing. But I have no doubt that's why they weren't more popular.
I also don't remember if you are putting it on the V3 or V5? That shouldn't make a difference, I don't think but the fit on the V3 seems precise.
The bobo came out when I first started vaping, my first Zmax was my first mega ecig buy. Bobo came out in the middle of that and it wasn't fun to keep the Z's and S's seperate with only a few months of vaping under my belt. If I recall right, Smax used the V2 because we wondered why Sigelei went backwards. But then that was the beginnings of everyone wondering what Sigelei was smoking and I don't know enough to say for sure. I think someone counted 64 different mech mods from Sigelei at that time. Awww...those were fun times. Sigelei's been way too quiet lately.
SJ is selling one of his V2's if anyone is missing that model in their collection. SJ started the Zmax mini because his wife thought the V2's were too big and heavy, so he drew up his ideas and took them to Sigelei. They liked. I don't remember when telescoping came out, but it was right around the same time.
The Sigelei ZMAX V2 looks exactly like the failed Sigelei Zmax V1. V2 is a non-telescopic V3. The V2 uses 18650 and 2x18350 (with the large battery cap) but will not fit 18350, 18490 or 18500.
V1 failed because it lacked the ability to calculate wattage by RMS.

Aikanae1, did you ever try to see if your removable top cap was raised up or not when the E Carry was installed? (see 2nd paragraph of my last post). Also, what tank are you using when you have the E Carry installed?

Trust me, that photo of the V2 on the Alibaba link I provided is correct. Later production versions of V2 were available with flat tops or slant tops, just like all of the Sigelei Zmax V-series and Minis. Trust me on this. That website is well known for inaccurate pics of models. I wouldn't trust anything on it. I've done group buys using found factories from there.
The original V2 wasn't telescoping, like you said but it looked like the provari. It was designed to be a visual clone and pbsuardo goes into a rant about clones at the beginning of his review of the Zmax.
I didn't know about V1 and assumed the Smax was like a V1. I wasn't vaping yet when that was happening.

Flat top styling carries over to tube detail, too, not just "pips" on the top caps. The flat tops have machined bands going around the tube. The slant top Vs have vertical slotting on the tubes.
