Yep, I much prefer the tall battery cap for the same reason. I mostly use 18500 and 18650. But, I use the short cap for 18350 once in a while.

I actually figured this out how to do this without using a ruler. If using the tall battery cap, adjust the tube until even with the battery bottom. Then screw the tube down for three complete turns, or six half turns. This always measures out to 1/8 for me.

Well, I got my sigelei Mini from RTD in today and I love it. I was carrying the Zmax telescope with a 18350 and this is almost exactly the same size but just a little lighter. It's the same length as the telescope completely closed and the same diameter ( or within a couple of hairs). The only thing I don't like about it is that it has the shorter end cap (battery end) which makes the spring put more pressure on the battery and, therefore, the circuit board. On my Zmaz's V3's, I use the deeper end cap which makes good contact without excess pressure. I checked the version and it's 1.5, the same as the V3's I got from Desert Vapors. I probably wouldn't have gotten it had DV been out of stock with the V3's and the fact that RTD had them on sale but I'm glad I did. Yea, it's not a Provari but I can still get another one, which I probably will, and still have spent less than a PV ... and if I lose one, or a kid throws it across the room, I won't cry like a big baby. I hate to see a grown man cry.:pervy: I'll take some side by side pics when I get the chance.

Good point. I noticed my large cap works as well.

Good for you. I look forward to the pics. I don't have any 18350's and don't want any simply because they don't last long enough for me.

As is evident by the sig, I DO own a ProVari, but I and not one of the ones in a shirt and tie with the Book of ProVari in hand looking for converts.

I totally get why someone would be hesitant to own one. Then I tried one. It is everything people say it is. If you ever get the opportunity to try one out, I encourage you to do so, as it is a pretty amazing device. But I'm also a realist. My ProVari stays home. I still use my MVP's and V3's out and about.

I'd really like to know where I can get a V3 with the metal buttons. I want one really bad. Desert Vapes seems to be out of all V3's and mentioned that they are not available which seems to indicate that they will not re-order them.

I have no interest in the V5, or the Legend. The V3 is a perfect mix of form and function and Price (Just slightly below an MVP2). If anyone knows any place carrying the newest V3 with the metal buttons, I'd really appreciate it.

Congrats on your V3 mini....

Desert Vapes hasn't restocked the V3 yet. The way websites are maintained I wouldn't take "not available" to mean "we will never order again." They have left the V3 selections up on the mod page, after all.

Desert Vapes has restocked the V5 in flat and round top, but only in brushed stainless steel so far.

The latest posts we have from people buying from Varitube report receiving V3s with metal buttons and laser etched logos.

Thanks, I do have a couple friends that have Provari's and I also agree that they are beautiful. When I set up my vaping budget, I decided that if I was still vaping after a year, I would get one as a reward for not smoking for a year. That would be in October but the budget was set for December ... a Christmas present so to speak. Well I'm already into August, I think, with the budget thing so who knows.

Varitube is mentioning that they are shipping metal buttons which is cool. I guess I'm spoiled by the $39.99 I paid for mine at Desert Vapes.

I blew a good bit of my Vaping budget, so I'll have to wait for them to come down a bit. Not that I need another Mod for God's Sake.

If yours is a Sigelei Zmax Mini it’s pretty much identical to the Sigelei Zmax Telescopic V2 and V3 except for the battery tube. V2 and Mini usually don’t suffer from shifted displays and boards unless they get a severe drop.

I had some switch misfires on the first V3 I purchased in April 2013. These went away after several weeks and I never had more than a couple of misfires at a time. In November I didn’t use that V3 for two weeks while I used a new V3 during its two-week warranty. When I started to use the older V3 after sitting unused after two weeks I had some misfires which I cured by putting the Sigelei into menu and hitting the fire button about 100 times, cycling quickly through the menu until it didn’t misfire again.

It sounds strange, but that 100 button presses seems to fix misfires for me. Maybe doing this clears the dome switch from internal dust or something.

Check the tube and battery cap. Make sure the threads are clean. Clean the battery spring and the inside of the battery cap if needed. Battery terminals should be clean as well.

Users can induce misfires from a good switch by slowly squeezing the button instead of using a brisk movement. Don’t hold partial pressure on the button between firings: let up on the button completely. Don’t fire the switch by pressing on the sides of the button but straight down onto the center.

If these approaches don’t help then switch is misfiring or you have another issue like a cold solder joint somewhere and the unit should be returned on warranty. If you bought from a B&M you should be able to demonstrate the misfires in the shop.

I took it to my B&M a FEW times and he says I'm doing something wrong every time, but I just recorded it doing it about 4 times in a couple of minutes, it's getting worse, and I'll show it to the owner there, he tends to actually listen to me lol.

Good luck! Getting an intermittent problem to act up when you want it to is always a challenge. The video is a good idea.

My truck always runs perfect when I get it to the shop. My tooth stops hurting upon arrival at the Dentist.

Desert Vapes is one of the favorite vendors on this thread. They have the SS V5 in stock (body only) for $46.95 w/30-day warranty.

Desert Vapes V5

Thanks yzer! I just placed my order for a v5, a nitecore i4, and a couple efest 18350's. Hope the batteries don't take longer for delivery than the mod. Oh and I have a kayfun clone on the way! Can't wait :2cool: Look forward to contributing to this thread in the near future.

One last question, is there a special way to go about applying noalox. How much are you supposed to use? Sorry for the noob question.

Just a dab will do you. You just want a nice thin coating on the threads and wipe off the excess. Don't go all  sandwich with the stuff.

Yes, you don't need much Noalox. I put a little on the top of threads for both mating pieces and work them together to distribute evenly to all threads. Put Noalox on the telescopic threads and the battery cap threads. You don't need it on the 510/eGo or removable top cap threads

I wonder if this would be better than Noalox since it is conductive:

It is hard to find great deals from US vendors on the Sigelei Zmax Telescopic V3 right now. The market hasn't rebounded from Chinese New Year yet. Desert Vapes is out of stock. So is 101 Vape. These were selling good V3s at around $40, body only. Varitube sells a lot of V3s at a higher price, but they offer a 90-day vendor warranty. The best US deal right now seems to be the V5 in stainless steel for $46 at Desert Vapes.

Yeah..I do like the V5 as well. I'll try and snag a starter kit if I can find one...now I have to play the waiting/search game!
