The v5 looks a little more like the Smoktech Zmax; the length-wise indents, rather than the rings around the v3. That was the next thing I was going to look at, but they cost a bit more than the Sigeleis, so I like the Sigeleis better. :D

Be advised the flat top of both the V3 and V5 have small rings around the unit while the tapered (Round) top has vertical grooves on the unit.

I think that was another reason I like the flat-top better; even if it's not *completely* flat; those rings-around just seem more in-tune with the way it looks when it's telescoped-out.

Also, I was kinda wondering; since that top ring isn't *completely* flat at the top... does anyone make any rings for these, that would allow you to change the profile of it, completely flat, flared, rounded? Seems like a "duh" kind of thing to me, but I haven't seen anything like this. Of course I haven't been looking for very long, either. They make all sorts of rings to cover eGo threads for the slimmer models, why not these fatter ones too?

I feel the same way. The other looks more like the old, outdated, poorly styled, pip covered Provari. I certainly do not wish it to be mistaken for that thing! Just say "NO" to cults.

To cults, and to vaping-things that cost more than the grocery budget for an entire pay period. :D That's my yardstick -- does it cost more than we can eat in 2.2 wks? If so... NEXT!

In fact, I think I'd probably say no to anything that cost more than I used to SMOKE in 2.2 wks... $88. With this Sigelei, it does end up being more than that if I add two of each of the 3 sizes of batteries and a 4-bay charger, but if I got 1 18650, 1 18350, and a 2-bay charger, plus the mod, it would come in just a bit less than that $88 yardstick; in other words, I could make it work, for less than $88. So that's acceptable, even though I know I'll end up with a 4 bay charger and a lot more batteries.

Any idea about replacement top rings? I've seen some for use with the v5, I *think*, but would they work for the v3?

An interesting yardstick. Anything more than one carton of smokes is overpriced. I will remember this. Good One!

A carton of smokes costs $88 in Michigan? Yikes. I thought it was bad here, to have to pay about $56 for a carton. I always just bought 2 pks/$11.02, every other day, and that was the cheapest I could find them anywhere. I usually went for about 8 trips in a pay period, so it came to about $88. I know I was spending just as much, buying them 2 pks at a time, but it just irked me to have to pay that much for a carton that wouldn't last the whole pay period.

No idea about the replacement top rings?

I *finally* got the cinnamon redhot I ordered from Killer Juice, so today I'm mixing up my Virginia. Think I'm going to mix it to 9mg instead of 8mg, and maybe get a bit more TH out of it. I add some Oak Barrel Cider 18mg, and a little bit of cinnamon @ 12mg, to get the taste and the nicotine level I like.

Be careful of cinnamon. It eats plastic tanks.

I know, I know... everyone tells me like I've never heard it before. :D

Besides which, it's 1ml of cinnamon with 31ml of everything else. I suppose it's possible that even that low a concentration could do some damage, but if so, then when these plastic tanks go south, I'll just get more. They were like $6.

If it was all cinnamon, or even 1/2, 1/3, or 1/4 cinnamon, I'd use glass. But for 1/32, I'm not gonna worry about it. ;)

I haven't read the whole thread yet; my main reason for going for the v3 is that it's cheaper than the newer v5's; I'd rather spend the big chunk on the safest batteries/charger I can possibly afford, than the mod itself.

I know that sometimes newer models are better; bugs are fixed, new features, etc. But from what I've read about the features, the only difference is something about "RMS" -- something in the display about the voltage that can be changed, which I don't understand anyway, so I figured I didn't need it. However, I also know that sometimes, "new features" means "new bugs" -- Windows, anyone? ;)

Anyone here that understands that new feature about how the voltage is displayed, RMS something or other, please explain it so that electric-idiots like me can understand it. At some point I might want to get a v5 too -- maybe when they've come out with v8 or v9. :D

Those rainbow colored really are pretty, though! :thumb:

Here is all that I could find:

Zmax v5 - Sigelei Zmax V5 Telescopic VV VW Mod Kit with Protank Batteries Charger | eBay - $69.95 - full kit

Zmax v3 - ZMAX V3 Telescoping Mod by Sigelei, Kit | Chicago E Cigs and E Liquid store- Smoque Vapour Shop- Electronic Cigarettes - $99.95 - full kit

Zmax v5 - Sigelei Zmax V5 APV Mod $78.99 - VividSmoke.com - $83.99 (by itself) (it's $5 more for rainbow, is why it's 83.99)

Other links I found, either they were out of stock, or it was wholesale, lg quantities only.

I suspect that Sigelei will make the rainbow V3 and V5 for any vendor interested in ordering it. The rainbows look like heat treated stainless steel but my guess is that their rainbow color is a coating. I haven't had a close look at one "in person."

The metal buttons are appearing more often. The V3s and V5s coming from Desert Vapes and Varitube lately have metal buttons. Again, metal buttons or plastic is probably something the vendor can specify when they order from Sigelei. The metal buttons don't work any better than the plastic buttons. I have 1st generation and 2nd generation V3s and both have plastic buttons. It's a hard plastic button and the material is good quality, like Lexan. I can't get these plastic buttons to rattle at all even on the 12 month-old V3. Laser etched logos are something that will vary from vendor to vendor too, like color choices and shipping boxes.

The lack of rattling will seem odd after using these vv3's. Although I barely notice it anymore; the crackling sound from the atomizer is much louder. Busardo got all worked up about it, so I expected some rattly piece of junk, but it's not; it's just the loose-set metal against metal.

I found out the old-gold rooks are back in stock at IBTanked; when I get that Sigelei this weekend (provided they're still in stock!), I'm going to go ahead and get one of those gold rooks, so I'll have it when I order my tank, in May; would really hate it if they got sold out again.
