It's good to hear that your V3 is working with the Noalox. Are you still getting misfires with the Noalox on the V3?

It will be interesting to find out when you receive the replacement V5. Did you have to send back the accessory charger unit or just the body alone?

So far no misfires or menu snafus with V3. A little warm but seems to run a full battery cycle. I sent everything back with the V5 including instructions. I'm hoping they just send out a complete new kit.

The rainbow V5 photo at Kidney Puncher looks really good. Their write-up makes me think that they know something about the sigelei Zmax Telescopics, too.

That's great news, Vapie Dan. The Noalox is amazing stuff. I vape at 6.5 and 7.0 watts with a 2.0 ohm carto tank and both of my Sigelei V3s will warm up with use. I feel the heat on the carto tank first and then on the Sigelei top cap and the body behind the screen. This seems perfectly normal to me.

We vape at the same wattage. Yes there is always some heat especially if you hold it for long periods of time. However no errors so far!

Funny I have 8 volts going in and vape at 10-13 watts and get no heat chain vaping. When I get heat I know the threads need attention. Many times I just add more noalox. Heat is resistance is bad ground.

I love the way it sparks putting the bat cap on with stacked batteries. No worries about that, serious power. I have 2 volts to vape through instead of one.

Doubles run time plus the efficiency of the chip is improved adding another 100% increase, so run time is increased 3 fold or more. (Compared to 2000mah efest) This is my experience.. And I'm only using 16340s! (For now)

If the rainbow color doesn't come from a coating then the rainbow V3 and V5 could be drop dead gorgeous, extremely durable and well worth the extra bucks.

A rainbow effect can be produced on stainless steel by placing it into an electrochemical bath. This changes the way that chromium (one of the metals used in stainless steel alloys) on the surface of the steel reflects light. This treatment can produce any color of the visible light spectrum.

I would just love to see a non-photochopped photo of your rainbow Sigelei after you receive it!

Here is an article about electrochemical coloring (light interference coloring) of stainless steel.

Architectural Metal Newsletter

I see this rainbowing of stainless steel all the time; I cook grits in a stainless steel boiler, and along with the starch residue, it leaves a strange rainbow patterning on the bottom of the pan; the only way I can get both the residue and rainbow staining off the steel is to let it soak a few minutes in vinegar; after that, it scrubs off easily. So don't get any vinegar on your mod, Peeps. :D

I knew a gunsmith once who did strange things with stainless steel Colt 1911s. He "boiled" the parts in Mobil 1 at extremely high temperature for many hours. The result was a .45 that looked like it had been blued but the color was was halfway between olive drab and brown. That was a long time ago. I don't think anyone knew exactly how he did it. Stainless steel is an amazing metal. If you know the alloy to be used and how to treat it the results can be astonishing. There are all kinds of stainless steel.

I posted a new thread in the Coil Builds forum, but I'm afraid that everyone there is too obsessed with superdupermicronano sub-ohm fog machine coils, and won't bother replying to my question, about the proper size silica wick to use in coils I build for either the T3Ss or the protank (mini PT II and hypertank) heads I have. I just checked the 5/64 drill bit I'll be wrapping them on, and it shows that it's equivalent to 1.98mm... so, does that mean that 2mm "High Quality Genuine Ekowool™ Silica Wick - Braided / Hollow" is the right width for this size coil?

Thx

At about 5 cents per coil I don't bother winding coils for T3S. Various Ohms available. The 4 wick work the best with no leaks and good feed.

$2.26 Pre-made Wires and Wicks for Atomizer (50-Pack) 50-pack - 34 AWG / 2.2ohm / 4-wick at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

read your post there too, was going to suggest cotton-but saw you prefer silica wicks-someone should come along and offer help sooner or later:) I had gotten 2 mm ekowool but it's pretty thick for my coils/my liking/frustrating, so I use cotton-haven't touched the ekowool yet-maybe someday-good luck:) lol-superdupermicronano sub ohm fog machine coils-fun description!

What I "heard" was that those coils offer the risk of metal shavings or something to that effect, because of the welds, something about NR-R-NR -- it was suggested that welded wire is less safe than wire with no welds. I have no idea if that's true, but frankly I don't care to wait 6 more weeks for something to make new coils with -- pretty sure I can figure it out in less than 6 wks! :D

Yeah I just got sick of dry hits, scorched taste, having to replace the cotton flavor wick just as soon as there's a dry hit or all the rest of the tank tastes awful. I never get that, with silica flavor wick, so I figure I'd best stay with silica in the coil wick too; someone in some thread opined that ekowool is better than "plain" silica, and that hollow is best of all, for providing air space for the juice to actually get into. Considering what I've heard, that the wick should just *just fit* inside the coil, it seems to me that 2mm would be right, since the bit I'll be winding the coil on is 1.98mm?

Anyone???

Andria

PS: That "superdupermicronano sub ohm fog machine coils" was because the whole forum seems overrun with cloud chasers trying to totally disregard or subvert ohm's law, and I just don't get it -- it's a LAW for a reason! :D :thumb:

Hey, this is amazing -- the part of my battery order that got free shipping, from amazon -- ARRIVED TODAY! So, how long do 18650's take to charge? I gotta get that Noalox'ing done PDQ! :D :thumb:

Andria

Also -- I meant to ask this the other day when the Sigelei arrived, but forgot -- the 2 sizes of battery caps -- which do you use with the 18650's, the taller or the shorter one?

This post is specifically for Yzer but also others if interested. I continued my attack on the problem V3. Another great improvement by cleaning threads with a stainless steel cleaner followed by alcohol rinse. Also cleaned the inside of the bottom cap in the same manner. Noalox applied including a thin layer at the bottom of the cap where the spring rests. Heat has been lowered even more. No board errors at all and normal battery performance.

You leaving me out vApie... :( lol ... Sounds great man.

Tall cap andria, the search thread function works great

Everytime I use any of the search functions at ECF, it shows me a bunch of threads... but no clue how to find what I'm actually looking for. :( So I just ask.

As for Noalox... I guess I'm doing it right, but I don't really know. First I tried a shop towel, but it has too much lint. So I found a scrap piece of some microfiber material, and it seems better, no lint, but I don't know really how much of this stuff to use. I put a tiny smidge of the Noalox on the microfiber and rubbed it round and round and round, then screwed the extension piece on and off, on and off, a few times; same for the batt caps. Is that sufficient?

Why are there no real "docs" for any of this? Since I've been doing the computer thing, I've been a STAUNCH supporter of "RTFM" but with this stuff, there is no "FM" -- sometimes there are videos, but that's just not the same as READING THE DIRECTIONS. I don't have to shut down 95% of everything running on my computer to read directions.

Where has literacy gone? :(

Well, it works. :D :thumb:

The batteries finished charging -- all 3 yellow lights on the nitecore were solid, not flashing. So, I found the threads here about inserting the battery, adjusting the tube; the other day I found a link online for managing the menu choices -- Sigelei ZMAX v3 Instructions | CoolVape Blog -- so I managed to get it switched to power, rather than voltage, and I figured I'd start at 8w, since that's about the low end of what I like.

I'm using my MT3S tank at the moment; the 15mm ego-threaded tank fits *perfectly* into the sigelei's well, although, with the reduced air flow inside the well, I took out the bit of toothpick I had blocking one of the tank's air holes, so that all 3 were open -- and it works great! This particular tank has, at the moment, a 2.5Ω coil in it, so it will give me a chance to observe the battery life with a fairly high-ohm coil. So, from 4:45pm till... whenever; I'll make a note of when the battery begins to get "low" (I usually try not to discharge below 3.9v or 3.8v when I just can't help it, to keep the batteries viable as long as I can).

I just boosted the power to 9w, still works great. That menu will take some getting used to, after the multi-buttons of the vv3, but I imagine in a few days it will be 2nd nature.

I just could not help myself, I fell in love with the Rainbow V5 and even though I really don't need ANOTHER mod, I had to get one. I ordered it today and it already shipped and said it should be here Saturday! I cannot wait, I got really lucky that the company is in AZ and I'm in TX so it's not too far lol. I already have 5 mods (including 3 Sigeleis) so I listed my 2 Zmax minis. I am really REALLY excited, I have 2 minis and a V3 so I know Sigeleis are quality mods and it really is just beautiful! I can't wait to get it and take pictures to show off lol.
