I'm getting close to three months of use with my V3 flat top now and I still get an occasional misfire. I've found this to be 100% due to B- voltage path continuity along the threaded telescopic battery tube and not the switch button or electronics. The fix is quick and any of these can work: slightly loosen or tighten the tube, wiggle the tube a little to change thread contact, clean the threads, apply Noalox to the threads. Battery cap threads and spring need to be kept clean. Battery cap should always be screwed down tight. With batteries larger than 18350 I adjust the telescopic tube so that about 1/8" of battery sticks out from the tube before I screw down the cap. Poor post contact with an atomizing device can cause intermittent misfires too. I tend to notice this after I've been using the same carto for several days.

This is also the case over hear.. I think most of the misfires this device has are attributable to a poor connection through the tube.. It's really the downfall of the device..

Mine picks this up as actual button presses and will go into the menu and change settings mine turns off frequently because of it.

Noalox helps but after awhile the noalox hardens and makes it worse after awhile. The I have to clean all the threads with alcohol. I also switch battery sizes frequently and then the noalox gets into the threading all through the tube and to get in and clean it all I end up having to use my ultrasonic cleaner on it..

It has really made me want to get a different device. I thought it was just mine, but the more I read, I see this is a defect in the design and a new one will not help..

I currently have the zmax v2 and after reading this thread just ordered the v3 :) My question is that IMR batteries only are listed for the v3. Just wanted to make sure that the batteries I'm already using in the v2 are ok?
I have the red 18650 that I bought from madvapes and a green panasonic 18650. I checked their product pages and saw no mention of IMR so I was getting a little nervous lol

I'm really looking forward to receiving the V3 and not having to worry about having only one Zmax (in case one broke and left me stranded).

Here is a thread to report your experiences after using Sigelei Zmax V3 Telescopic for at least seven days. Please let us know which Sigelei Zmax Telescopic you are using. Sigelei has cranked out new models so fast it is important to know model specifics. Some features or issues may be unique to certain models and versions.

I have the Sigelei Zmax V3 Telescopic (flat top). It looks like this.

SigeleiZMV3TFT.jpg

During the first days that I used this Sigelei I noticed that it could take a minute or two for the unit to respond after doing a battery change. That is no longer the case. I power the Sigelei down with menu item #1 before changing batteries. When the battery cap is screwed on the Sigelei name appears on the OLED screen and goes out. After pressing the button three times once or twice the Sigelei name scrolls across the screen, reads SYSTEM ON and goes out. Three more clicks brings the menu up and I use menu item #1 to power up the device fully. I don't know why I encountered longer boot-up times during the first few days.

I have been running the Sigelei with the following settings:

-Menu item #5: LCD Display: Voltage
-Menu item #6: LCD ON/OFF: ON
-Menu item #7: Power Voltage: Power (this selects variable wattage instead of variable voltage mode)
-Menu item #8: RMS & Mean: RMS

With these settings the Sigelei operates in variable power (variable wattage) mode with power and voltage calculated by RMS. When the button is pushed to vape the screen lights up and gives the output power in watts. The menu #5 selection (voltage) means that my remaining battery voltage shows up on menu item #4.

I had problems with switch operation on Saturday evening. This issue has not happened again. I noticed a little white powder on the battery tube right next to the button. I blew this off and blew into the button housing as well. Maybe some plastic dust caused this issue as the plastic button wore-in against the tube. It could be that I wasn't depressing the button fully. My previous APV had a lighter touch on the button.

I've been using flat top E-fest IMR 18650 and 18500 most of time. No problems with flat top versions of these batteries. However, the flat top 18350 was too short to make good contact with the battery spring. I stretched the spring a little to correct this issue.

The battery tube threads were well machined but squeaky and gritty-feeling. I cleaned all tube threads with a damp rag and applied a thin film of Vasoline to the threads.

A week later I'm used to using this excellent APV. The Sigelei Zmax flat top is very nicely detailed in brushed stainless steel. I like the feel and sound of the button. The telescoping battery tube feels solid when the battery spring is properly torqued down. No need to over tighten the spring. The OLED screen on my unit was only slightly tilted and not as bad as the tilt I saw on a unit featured in a Pbusardo video. It's very easy to change vaping power and to check the battery voltage. I can also check atomizer resistance. This Sigelei feels pretty heavy for its size but I like that.

I picked the Sigelei Zmax V3 Telescopic flat top to celebrate one year without smoking. That's today. I'm very happy with my present and have little doubt that I'll still be using this APV next April.

It's a piece of crap. I've had mine since April, and it started misfiring after the first month. It got so bad that after 3 months it's working every now and again. It's not for heavy users, get something else. The telescope tube is neat but nothing else. The switch is defective.

2 caps? I didnt get 2 caps... do you have the telescoping sigelei zmax version 3?

Pat S.

sent from my note 2 with tapatalk 2

Depending on where you bought it, it comes with just one cap. Mine has only one vent hole, so if I chain vape I feel it getting hot down the sides. The misfires and entering into the menu gets more frequently. Bought mine early March from Stormy's

I'm in!! I just received my zmax today! this is my first APV and I'm loving it!, I got the 2 caps, screen is straight and works great.
the only issue is the half moon button thingy bot doesn't really bother me. looks great with efest 18490's, just a tiny gap as I'm afraid to tighten it more.
at first forgot about the RMS vs mean and blew the coils of my phoenix RBA at 8 watts

This thing is smaller and heavier than I thought! and really hits great!!
thanks guys for helping me make the decision

Well I ordered a slanted top Zmax Tele last night from Varitube. I ordered the kit with Zmax, 2 batt's, case, & charger. Unfortunately it only comes with the extended bottom cap. I would have preferred the shorter bottom cap.

I have a couple of questions but a little background first. I quit smoking and have been using e-cigs for a little over 2 years now. I started with those small cigarette style batteries. That lasted a few months and I switched to cartos and ego 650 usb batteries, then the ego-c tank setup. Currently a mini vivi nova on those same batteries.

I tried the vivi nova with 1.8, 2.4, & 2.8 atty heads and prefer the 2.4 but I'm using up a bunch of 2.8's I have right now. Though I've been told that they shouldn't be working with the small ego battery but that will change once I get my zmax.

So onto my mod newbie questions ...
It's best to use the VW setting correct?
What would be a good starting setting based on what I've been using (2.8 on a 3.7 ego)?
Does anyone know if there is some place selling the smaller bottom caps?
Finally am I wrong or does it seem like all the button issues I've read on this post with the zmax seem to be with the flat tops?

Thanks in advance

regarding the VW the safe range will be to stay between 4-8 watts, remember to be in RMS mode as opposed to MEAN. if you are using high ohms with a low voltage on your previous setup start at the 4 watts and go up from there
the shorter cap is just 4 or 5 ml of difference, if you don't have it don't worry there really isn't a really noticeable difference. I as you thought that I was going to use the shorter but as that one came wrapped in paper and the bigger one installed I used that one instead (I didn't thought the difference was worth to unwrap it

The battery will read 4.1v to 4.2v when fully charged. When the battery reaches 3.2v the Zmax will shut off and read Low Volt.

@Alxx Nova, my preferred wattage setting with a SR head is between 7 and 8.5 watts. A little experimenting will find yours in no time.

I hope you both enjoy your new Zmax. I've had mine over 3 months and it still works great.

Thanks for the starting power tips.

I'm sure the bottom cap won't bother me much but being that I'll be carrying it around at work I'd like for it to be as small as possible. But until I actually hold it who knows I might like it as is. I have seen the Provari Mini and loved the height of that. From what I understand the Zmax Tele isn't much taller with the 18350 and I have no problem carrying extra batteries if needed.
