Hi, folks.

So, I'm expecting a new sigelei Zmax V5 in Gun Metal (with the metal button) at some point today if the postman/woman/person ever decides to show up. :D Needless to say, coming from a Spinner battery, this should be a really nice upgrade! Can't wait!

But I wanted to ask -- would you guys suggest I get some Noalox from my local Home Depot and start using it right away on the threading? Any other things I should do in a preventative sense?

Thanks for your time,
John.

Use Noalox right away to prevent thread wear as well as increase conductivity. Clean the unit once a week if you are using every day removing old Noalox and reapplying. Clean the battery contact in the unit with cotton swab and alcohol. Don't forget to remove the spring and apply Noalox under it in the cap. If I would have done this with my V3 it would not have experienced conductivity problems 5 months later.

That hasn't been my experience with FT - the few times that I've enquired, they've responded in near-perfect English, almost slangy even - better than some US vendors I've dealt with. Pictures do help (like Yzer's pic of the metal button or the slotted flat top on the FT forum), and keep your wording straightforward, concise and to the point (don't get too verbose - even I can't follow those). They're not like eBay stores. Those guys get very thick in the accent.

...now with their tremendous volume, will they have time to respond in a timely manner? :?:
If you have laundry list of likes and dislikes, I'd try a US vendor first. They're smaller and their CS is a lot easier to get to. :2c:

Ok, thanks -- mainly I just want to know about that really flat top cap, and that FT forum that Yzer linked is the only place I've ever seen that, so it would seem that not only do they have the best price, but the top cap I'd particularly prefer.

Now, if someone would come out with a Kayfun clone in gunmetal, I'd *really* be a happy camper. :D

The most important adjustment you can do on the V3 and V5 is the proper tube length for the battery in use. Go back a few days in the thread and you will find the latest repost of Sigelei Tube Adjustment. Basically, don't tighten down the tube so that the battery spring is more than 1/2 compressed.

It's better to use Noalox sooner than later but I admit to using my new V5 for two months without it.

Yeah, me too (and the metal button). Also, there was question as to whether ALL of FT's units have that top cap, or just that one batch that the FT poster got lucky with. Hopefully by the time I save up enough money, all these iterations will be in my favor (metal button, slotted flush top cap, etc.). I've been copying the pics from here of things that I like (thank you all, btw). When I'm ready to buy, I'm just gonna email vendors with them until I find one that has them all, even if they're not the cheapest.

I'm spending today and tomorrow visiting on the San Francisco peninsula. Its a full twenty degrees cooler here in South City than at home in Davis. Will be watching fireworks while wearing a jacket in Foster City this evening. I'll probably have to stealth vape the Sigelei due to local ordinances. ;)
Weather's weird out here (SF). Like our overcast summers? Better bring a sweater too. And yeah, I would keep the vaping on the D/L. Haven't seen any other vapers out here and Foster City crowd can be a little uptight. I used to watch fireworks from there too. Loved laying out on the lawn! :thumb:

My wife grew up in Foster City. I have known it since the early seventies. Her mother still lives there. A t-shirt was great at a friend's BBQ up on the hill in San Bruno this afternoon. A sweatshirt is perfect in SSF right now where the fog has already moved in. I'm taking the leather jacket to Foster City for fireworks. The peninsula is full of microclimates. We'll watch the fireworks from a bridge where no odinances apply.

Voltage regulation for Sigelei Zmax V3 and V5 is among the most accurate in the business with battery voltage from 3.3V to 4.2V at all power levels. The 33.3 Hz chip can produce a faint sound from the atomizer or the device depending on power used, battery voltage and atomizer type. This sound has no effect on vapor quality as far as I can tell. 33.3 Hz chips are also used in Vamo, SVD and countless other devices.

PWM circuits of one kind or another are used in all VV and VV/VW APVs. Regardless of frequency used these devices do not make pulsed vapor. Vapor produced by atomizers using power supplied by PWM waft from the coil in an uninterrupted stream. The vapor will not come out looking like a rippled cloud or smoke signals.

The voltage regulation of the Sigelei Zmax V2, V3 and V5 is as good as found on the Provari. Diameter of Sigelei V3 and V5 is 23mm. I don't know the SVD diameter. Length is shorter than Vamo or SVD or most other VV/VW APVs @ 100mm for 18350, 112mm for 18490/18500 and 127mm for 18650. Provari is shorter than V3 or V5 but does not have VV/VW capability or a 510/eGo connector. Plus, you need to buy optional tubes for different battery sizes. Look for the many posts here on the Variable Voltage APV regarding Innokin SVD build quality which isn't good.

This a good review of the first generation Sigelei V3 from pBusardo. I offer this with some warnings. It's an old review from may of 2013 and does not show features included on current generation V3 and V5 including removable top cap, one-piece stainless steel 510/eGo connector, new firmware that improved menu appearance and operation or any of the extra features of V5. Beware: pBusardo overtightens the the V3 tube to make the device smaller than we recommend with batteries over 18350 size.

Caveats noted, let 'er roll. You will see a detailed look at voltage regulation specs, etc.

Hi Mothernatural, is there a difference between the V5 and the V3?.....just curious, bought (3) V3s when 101 vape was clearing them out at $29
Hey to you, BackDoc! I bought a clearance one from 101 vape too. There are a few differences between the V3 and V5. While their looks are identical the V5 has a puff counter and is capable of charging your phone. I'll also note that the colored V3s seem to be slightly wider than the plain SS ones. This appears to hold true for the V5 also.

Did I miss any other features of the V5, yzer?

The most obvious difference between V3 and V5 is the easiest to overlook. The OLED displays are different. The V5 has a two line display when fired. The V3 displays a single line of information. This means the V5 can tell you up to three pieces of information when fired: such at wattage or resistance, battery power gauge and puff counter. The V3 will only show you one piece of info like the wattage or resistance.

The lettering on the two line display will be smaller than on the single line display.
