That gun metal finish does look nice. My concern has always been that this type of finish will eventually wear off as most seem to (I'm assuming it's a coating that's applied). Has anyone owned a V3 or V5 for a good while with a finish like this that could comment? It would be nice to have some sort of idea regarding the longevity of this sort of finish, although I'm sure much of that will depend on how well it's taken care of.

Well, it finally arrived! My new Gun Metal Zmax V5... I already love this thing.

First of all, Hello from a new member and poster to this thread.
Secondly, my V5 just like yours is scheduled to be here tomorrow (with an Aerotank) and after seeing your pic I might just have trouble sleeping tonight.

Thanks for posting John and thanks to you all for helping me decide to take the plunge.

Searched to no avail, and without reading this entire thread, hope some Sigeleilista may be able to help.

I love the performance of my Zmax V5. I really like the looks in the 18350 mode and was wondering if there was a tube made to keep the same smooth looks using a 18650 battery?

Not that I know of. There really is no demand for a spacer like that. After using my first V3 for a couple of hours I became completely unaware of tube gap while using 18500 or 18650. I don't feel it anymore and the look never bothered me at all.

There is a mini model. Only 18350 but smooth lines.

I am drooling with envy, I want one of those so bad. :( Be *sure* to show some pics of whatever topper you get, if it's a gun-metal finish. Probably the major reason I'm holding off is that my favorite top to use with the Sigelei is a kayfun, and those don't [yet?] come in a gun-metal finish. Darn it. They do come in black, though it's a "russian 91%", but I'm not sure the black would look any better atop a gun-metal mod than a plain stainless tank would.

I know gunmetal's usually grayer, but wonder what black chrome would look like, atop one of these:

Should hopefully be picking up a less gimpy looking RDA soon, perhaps next paycheck, else my wife will probably hurt me (Why do I live in constant fear of this woman? Haha). :D Have to try and find one that'll match up not only in diameter but color as well.

Thank you for your words in regard to the button -- as with anything new, I was wondering if I had a bum unit that'll fail in two weeks, but that idea has pretty much been alleviated.

Thanks again, and have a good one.

- John.
Just keep an eye on the performance. If this continues don't hesitate to contact the vendor regarding their warranty. Some vendors offer a 14-day vendor warranty and some are 30-day (Desert Vapes). Varitube has an excellent 90-day vendor warranty on their Sigeleis but they don't discount their prices that much.

I actually like the gap -- it gives me a good grip on the bottom segment -- so even though I love the battery life of 2 stacked '350s, I've gotten really fond of these new 18490s -- the short height, but still having the small gap, gives me kinda the best of both worlds.

I feel your pain -- the vast majority of the RDA's I've been looking at don't come in a gun metal finish either, which is disappointing. My primary need is an RDA with adjustable airflow and something I can stick in my pocket without leaking out of the airholes... I may just have to go with something mismatched, or at least something that looks halfway decent, to meet these needs.

Watch, the second I get one, they will come out with one the next day in gun metal. Heh.

ARE there such animals, RDAs that won't leak out the airholes? I've got a caterpillar, and I really hate to knock that thing over, even though it's all-metal, because as soon as it's not vertical, it leaks like mad.

I'm really not wild about dripping anyhow, had to jump thru hoops to get a coil I could use in the thing that wouldn't fry me with TH, and I don't take "lung hits," so I keep all but one airhole closed up. I MUCH!!! prefer any tank to the caterpillar, but particularly my kayfun clones.

I just wish someone, preferably Tobeco, would make a gun-metal finish KFL+ clone.

I would have posted earlier, but never even knew this thread existed lol. I just picked up a v3 from ecigcharleston, they had 25% off for the 4th and it came out to only 39 bucks shipped. Couldn't pass that up.

I've owned 2 of these in the past, both ended up with button issues (dreaded circuit board moving around and what not) and the other had intermediate button issues. I'm wondering if these issues got hashed out by now and shouldn't really be a concern anymore. I know it was a big issue when the v3's came out.

First vv mod in a long time.. I've been in reoland for awhile now. Love my reos like most of us reonauts do and ended up selling my other mods on the classies, provari and all. Didn't think I'd miss vv/vw so much but am loving being able to just change my power output again vs rebuilding my rba every time I want to change the output.

We still run into switches that are bad from the start or wear out eventually. We have posts here about how to replace the OEM switches with a better replacement switch rated for 1,000,000 clicks. I have a bag of ten of these tactile switches at the workbench if I should ever need one. The first generation V3 was most susceptible to displaced boards or displays. Using the right spring pressure when adjusting tube lengths for batteries sized over 18350 helps avoid this issue.

I've had real good luck with my two V3s and V5. The first V3 has been running for over 15 months and none have needed repairs. Using Noalox on the tube has cured issues some users attributed to a bad switch. Some misfires can be avoided by improving the ground path along tube sections with Noalox.

Just a little follow up from my side of things. Back on my Thread on page 286 I noted that I ended up buying some Chemtools called R006 Conductive Carbon Grease (As Noalox is not avail in Australia).
My Issues now Resolved :D : My new V5 runs much much better.
Initial Issues: Prior to rubbing a tiny bit of the R006 onto the Tube threads and battery base threads, I found I had to change my battery when it reached around 3.6Volts. It would also shutdown a few times a day when battery was around 3.9V or lower (very annoying)!
With R006: Battery runs the whole way down to 3.2V (or to low voltage reported on V5 display)! What a massive difference and my 18650 battery lasts me a full day (approx. 550 X 5 sec vapes as a guide). There is just no comparison. In short, I highly recommend that Noalox or (In Oz... R006) on the MOD barrel and bottom screwcap threads.

Sidenote and unsure if related..........I have also found the slight buzzing sound that I could hear from the V5 Mod electronics when taking a vape is now much quieter (can't hear it at all unless I place my ear to the LCD screen)........that may have been just a "break in" thing? Thanks all for suggestions along the way. Great Thread.

A pic of my somewhat battered gunmetal V5 purchased March 21st. I had first put the markings off to keys or carrying two mods in one hand, but then it hit me - i'm left handed and i wear a wedding ring. The band (i'm a male) has some etching patterns and a small diamond. I've lost some weight (yay) and it tends to swirls around a bit and the diamond and etching are no doubt causing the marks (boo). Although not apparent in the picture i also have some movement of the pad visible though the clear fire button. So this is fixable, yes? Otherwise it's performing flawlessly. Also worth noting my stainless V3 does NOT show any wear - it's newer but nary a scratch so far. So - if you get the gunmetal watch the jewellery AndriaD!

I *rarely* ever wear any, other than my wedding ring, which is of course on my left hand -- and I find that I vape more with my right than my left hand, particularly the Sigelei. My wedding ring is actually an "anniversary" band, 10 tiny diamonds recessed, which I wanted so it wouldn't snag things, so really the only part that might scratch is the gold itself, and it's *extremely* narrow, so probably not too big a risk; on the palm side, it's usually covered by the "pads" of flesh above and below it.

What's funny is that with my vv3s, I do tend to use them left-handed, because I can operate the bottom buttons perfectly with my left hand, but if I put it in my right, suddenly I'm all fumbly and have to get both hands into it. And I'm about as far from a lefty as could possibly be imagined! Both my mom and stepdad are lefties, and when I was growing up, I had to have my own pair of scissors just for me, because every other pair in the house were for left-handed use, and I couldn't do a single thing with them! So I can't explain why the vv3 works so well for me for one-handed, *left* handed use, it's a mystery.

I think the biggest issue for me with a gun-metal, for the finish, would be when I put it in my purse. I do put it in the side pocket, to keep it handy, but my purse is like the black hole of Calcutta, just no telling what's in there at any given time. :D

Thanks for the information on R006. It's looks as if this product works as well if not better than Noalox.
