I think you are taking the right approach. While I had a V5 apart last summer I took a close look at the hole that is bored through the battery tube for the button. If there are some steel burrs left on the inside of this hole they could possibly catch on a plastic button and cause problems. I'm just guessing here. I haven't actually seen this problem or heard of it before. My two V3s have clear smoked plastic buttons. I haven't experienced this problem with them but I have noticed seeing a little white plastic powder appear on the side of these buttons as they broke-in.

I just looked at the button bore on my V5 with the 14x loupe and it appears to be machined, not laser cut. I can see a small ridge on the upper edge of this hole left by cutting but no burrs. The button on my V5 has a silicon plug that fits inside and acts as a cushion between the button and the dome switch. The fitting between the silicon plug and the dome switch cover has zero free play. That is, there is constant contact of the silicon plug on the dome switch cover with some slight pressure, but not enough pressure to press the switch. My metal V5 button does not rotate easily but it could be rotated 360 degrees if I wanted. But, there is no reason to do this.

On most of the devices I've seen with the chromed plastic button (other brands use these buttons, too) the power symbol is not centered straight up and down. Most owners just get over this.

Unless Sigelei has added a feature to the chrome-plated plastic button with the power symbol to keep it from rotating 360 degrees there is only one other reason I can think of to explain why the button may rotate only a few degrees.

The soft silicon plug that fits inside the button presents a lot of friction that will resist movement of any smooth material against the silicon. These plugs fit really snug inside the button. I doubt if the plug can be rotated at all inside the button. This "stickiness" is going to happen between the plug base and the switch cover as well. So, if the silicon plug is resisting movement between itself and the button and between itself and the switch cover then the most rotation of the button you might get will be from some limited twisting of the silicon plug itself.

In the photos below the original Sigelei switch is shown with the black dome. The better Omron switch I replaced it with has a yellow dome.

Been looking for an VV/VW tube mod for awhile and am pretty sure I'll be getting a V5 in the next month or two. Is there an online shop that you think is best to buy from?

I know Fasttech seems to have the lowest price on them, but I'm not really into long waits when I purchase. Any place else i should be looking?

Agreed, Desert vapes rocks when they have V3 in stock. I bought a V5 there last spring but they haven't stocked them for quite a while.

V3 at Desert Vapes

Varitube is another good vendor for Sigelei but have never stocked V5, just V3. Varitube is more expensive than Desert Vapes but they have a 90-day vendor warranty.

V3 at Varitube

V5s are easy to find on eBay. Some people have posted good buys there but haven't specified which seller they used.

Glad you enjoy the thread, I have two V3s. The first purchased in April of 2013 and the second in November of 2013. I got the V5 in April of this year. The V3s still work fine. I had to replace a switch on the V5. I use the V5 most often. I like the two-line display with output, battery gauge and puff counter. The puff counter helps me keep track of battery performance. I also like the look of the V5 with its laser etched logos. Both of my V3s were purchased before Sigelei started branding them. I only used the V5 cell phone charger once just to try it out. It works, but I haven't needed to use it since.

MyVaporStore has the V5 for $65.78 (doesn't include the shipping of approx $5.50 USPS). I came across a coupon code for 10% off (86AFBW). I tested it in the shopping cart without actually making the purchase and it appears to be valid. The total came to $64.70 including shipping.

It's a shame that Desert Vapes isn't stocking these. I got my V5 from them for under $50 when they carried them.

Still have to wait on a charger and batteries, but I have them scoped out. (Really wasn't supposed to be getting this yet, but it was too good a deal to pass up.) I'd say in 3 weeks I'll be vaping on a new device.

Will be back to tell you's all about it.

You have more patience than me! I have gone without lunch to get a dripper I wanted.

Its more about the hubby than any real self control on my part. I just came back from a solo vacation last week that we could ill afford and we have not recovered from it yet, financially. Not the best time to shop on credit. (The credit card is supposed to be for emergencies only.)

That auction counted as an emergency to me.
