I would hate to see formation of a Zmaxinati group. The true believer Provari fanbois were bad enough.

Marketing has a lot to with where vaping is headed. That's undeniable. On the other hand I don't represent the typical vaper that is trying to choose a first APV from today's market. I'm a vaper that succeeded in quitting smoking and is happy with the success. I have found what works for me. I'm satisfied with the vapor I get and the equipment I use. If things were not working so well for me I might be looking for something more from my equipment choices.

This was as close as I got to becoming a Zmaxinati.

I forgot a couple of posts back that I started vaping in late 2011 but didn't quit smoking until April 2012. I used a Smok E-Power 14650 for over a year and quit smoking with it. It still works fine and lives in back of the vaping cupboard now. This E-power sold me on the practicality of brushed stainless steel bodies. It is semi regulated 3.7V and I used XL cartos with it. I was topping off the cartos three times an hour.

Yep, Sigelei was always the gifted child in the Zmax family.

I always thought the "round-top" body style looked like it was trying to be a Smok Zmax. Or Smok Zmax just copied it. That's why I love the flat-top body style, it's not only elegant, it's unique.

The Sigeli round top (or slant top) always looked like a blatant ripoff of Provari styling to me. I much prefer the look of the Sigelei flat tops.Things have a way of coming around. The new Provari P3 style now looks like a blatant ripoff of the Sigelei flat tops.

I got the Kidney Puncher $19.95 Sigelei V5 in the mail today. It certainly passed my preliminary inspection. This one is stainless steel. The finish looks just like my year-old V5 but lacks the Sigelei and CE laser etchings. It came in a heavy black cardboard box with both battery caps and a black cell phone charger unit. No user's pamphlet. The button material is chrome plated plastic with the power symbol. Firmware is SI V. 2.0a, just like my older V5. Looks like a very nice deal.

I think it was July 2012 that PBsuardo looked at Zmax for the first time (informative video) and he starts with a rant on cloning. At the time, Zmax was considered almost a 1:1 Provari clone except the OLED screen and firmware. At the end of the video he calls the Zmax, "the poor man's provari". Provari changed designs a few months later. It's kinda interesting to see how things change.

The first time I saw the flat top was 2013, towards the end of round 1. We were expecting the traditional slant top version and Sigelei sent the group a picture of the flat top one with no warning, out of the blue. Oops. Gotta luv China. We sent them back to the drawing board and got slant tops.

The idea of the Sigelei mini came from SJ's wife who liked SJ's Zmax but it was too heavy for her. He came up with 18350 version, contacted Sigelei, put the group together and Sigelei liked it enough to get his permission to put it into production. I think it took almost 6 months of back and forth with China before we got them in our hands.

My biggest hangup about using the Zmax more has been the lack of 22mm glassomizers. They seemed to stop at 18mm which was too small IMO.

Glad I was able to snag a v5 from KP. I did my 4th v3 switch upgrade, it didn't go well. I thought everything was fine. Used it all last night. This morning was rolling the wattage on it own. Thought maybe it was laying on the fire button, not. Changed out the switch 3 times same thing. Work for a few minutes then acts possessed and fires up on it's own. I think this one goes in the scrap pile. Any thoughts.
