I know many would say this is paranoid and unreasonable, but I wonder if that's not a clone. This comes with nothing that the "normal" V5 comes with, including the charging adapter. Other things just don't seem right, like the top cap and that it comes with only one battery cap. The "All Sales Final Except DOA" is not a very trust inspiring sales pitch.

fairmana, I see your banner now. Did you fix it?

I wouldn't say your worries were paranoid or unreasonable but there's never been a known sigelei clone market before and I doubt there would be now. This came up in another conversation today about their 100w box mod. I don't know how or why Sigelei has managed to escape cloning, but so far they have.

What Sigelei seems to do is tweak every run / batch so there are subtle cosmetic differences. It's kinda odd to see a V5 without the USB charging attachment since that was the big feature with this version. The ones from Kidney Puncher I think came without a warrenty as well. My guess is that just means 'new old stock' and the warrenty period has run out. KP did state they had tested them. Vapor Beast is considered a good vendor. Hard to turn away at that price.

A person can never have too many back-ups. I did a quick Google search on Sig Zmax's last night (the internet can be a dangerous place) and holy smokes, places are still selling v3 and v5's for $50-$80 in stock. Amazon had one of the original v2's.

Sigelei really is being foolish for not updating the Zmax line. Could Sig use their 30w chip in the Zmax? Maybe I'm being silly, but I bet with a 100 unit committment there's a possibilty of talking a previous Sig contact into an updated run (Sig would have to agree since they'd probably sell the rest wholesale because I think the minimun run starts at 250+ units). I'm not sure there are that many in the cult of SigiZmax ...

I could not agree more with you. However the high quality tube is just too expensive to manufacture. In fact any tube mod can't compete price wise with the box creations. I just saw a 150w box mod today selling for $35! Unbelievable!

It doesn't sound like anyone's making a lot of money off a $35 box mod that's 150w. I'd venture that the market is over saturated instead. There's an issue with Chinese manufacturers that tend to focus the majority of their resources and development towards a niche market like sub-ohming and treat them as if they are the mainstream when the reality is they are really just a few vocal vapers - not to say they aren't early adopters or don't spend money', they do. It's just the average vaper tends to get lost. Usually it's not an issue since goals run parallel, but not always.

I just saw an ad for a mod that's blue tooth - and settings must be controlled by an app. Are they kidding? Very little of the current gear honestly excites me beyond "shineyitus addiction".

It is sad the wattage war is on neglecting improving devices for the new user. I am certain cigarette smokers can be quite intimidated by the volume vaping.

Success! I successfully completed the button replacement on one of my V3's. Thanks to Yzer and fairmana for all they've contributed to the knowledge base on that procedure! I don't think it was as elegant as what I saw fairmana and Yzer do, but in the end it was successful, and I wound up using a piece of speaker cabinet carpeting for the end brace. I've used it for 48 hours now and not one button malfunction. Yay! The biggest hassle was that the half round piece of plastic was broken off at the end (Not sure where that happened, but I think they just assembled it that way.) That made it difficult to get the board to slide back into the slots correctly. A couple times I thought I had it but it was out on one side and was at a slight angle. As a result part of the board was getting hung up on the button and I had to mess around with it quite bite to get it to come back out. Once it was in correctly though, it lined up with the button with very little, if any, play. Also, here's a tip for those who don't like the yellow button showing through. My opaque button had some black on the inside of it from contact with the old switch. I tried scraping it off with my fingernail and it wouldn't come off, so I took a Sharpie and colored the inside surface of the button. I put a couple of "coats" on it and it worked great. No yellow button. Thanks again all for the help. Using this mod now feels like it should have from the beginning. :D

Congratulations on your successful repair. The Omron switches work really well.
There are little plastic stops at end of the half round housing that are supposed to keep the board from sliding out from the end but these are weak. My V5 also had a big glob of hot glue holding the board in place inside the half round housing.

Glad your Sigelei is working like it should now. So far it looks like none of the Omron switches used for replacements have worn out. I figured it would take me about three years to reach the 1,000,000 clicks these switches are rated for.

I have a feeling the Sigelei 20w may be on the chopping block next!

Id actually prefer that one cause I vape at 15w and dont want to stress the Zmax by constantly maxing it, but Im not down with the gravity sensor hehe. Guess Ill stick with my 2 Mini 30 watters for now. ;)

You bring up an interesting point about using devices at their maximum wattage constantly. I see a lot of folks using 20 to 30w devices wide open all the time sub ohming. I would think it better for the device if you used a 50w device at 30w if that is one's goal.
