I prefer carto tanks as well. IBTanked are my favorite. But Fluid Flask (they are promising to do a glass tube) and Loki Labs SS1 both are filled by removing the top cap. They both work good as well.

Right now I only have ProVari's. And although I never tried any VW device, I don't feel like I missed anything. After about 3 months of vaping I replaced my Ego Twists with a ProVari because, like the OP, I didn't want to mess around with a bunch of stuff that didn't last long or work well. For a 2nd device, I got a ProVari mini. I have no regrets. Between the 2, I have something appropriate for all situations.

The only thing I really want is a mech to go with my rba.

Boge cartos all the way if you want a consistent all day vape. However, the taste of your juice will diminish little after three or four days of using the same carto. It will still fire like a champ, but it won’t taste as good as the day you started to use it. Best bet is to buy in bulk. Sure Vapes has a Boge Mix 'n' Match (5Box) deal for $25.00, and if you have a coupon code you normally end up paying about .90 cents per carto.

Provari or Sigelei V3? I own both as well as a few Lavatube V2s from Volcano. The Sigelei V3 Telescope is a very nice looking device with a ton of features. Only problem is when it overheats, and it does due to its bare metal casing, it starts to malfunction. I love to use it at home, but I won't leave the house with it because it may stop working when I need it. My Provari on the other hand, yeah it looks great, but it’s the most dependable device I've ever owned.

Don't forget about the Lavatube V2 from Volcano ecigs. It’s half the price of the Provari, but very close in performance and dependability. Plus, it comes with a one year warranty. IMO, you can't go wrong with either a Provari or a Volcano Lavatube V2. Other devices out there look great and pack a lot of features into their devices, but they simply don't last. Sporting the latest and greatest is fun, but you'll have a really bad day if that awesome looking device stops working when you’re out and about.

Don't do it!

First of all the Sigelei V3 is being upgraded on Monday to the Sigelei V5.

Second, the Provari is the better of the two devices, but probably not the best device for you. Here's why:

1. Provari does not have variable wattage. The Sigelei V5 does.
2. Provari does not have ego threading, like you'll use for those evods and MT3s's. Sigelei V5 does.
3. Provari has multiple tubes and battery caps to take two battery sizes, i.e., 18650/18490 OR 18490/18350 (And the different tubes and battery caps don't come standard - they're extra). Sigelei V5 can handle the 18350, the 18500 and the 18650 without changing tubes.
4. Being pretty new to vaping, why spend $200+ on a device, when you don't even really know what you want? You can get the Sigelei V5 for under $100 with batts, charger, etc.
5. The Provari will not charge your phone. The Sigelei V5 will.

These are both quality devices. I think you should get the Sigelei, then later on the Provari. I have both the Sigelei V3, the Sigelei Mini, and the Sigelei V2, and the Provari and Provari Mini. The Sigelei will make a fantastic backup someday for when you buy the Provari. What you need to use the extra money for is for the many, many toppers, juices, etc. that you also need to get. So, get both, for sure, but first the Sigelei V5 (July 15, 2013 debut and on sale now as a preorder at several locations - see ........'s). My :2c: Vape On!!!!
Ditto and very well said. :) Respectfully, please don't forget the display and by that I mean the screen. The Sigelei uses the far easier to read and understand "OLED" which in my book is HUGE! I'm not saying that either UI is great with respect to the number of clicks. That's a work in progress. :)

Lot of valuable info in this thread - big thanks to all who contributed. I ordered the Provari with the extension cap, lots of extra batteries, and the carto tank. Have a Protank coming as well from a different source. I'll report back after trying everything out )

OK quick update - I have my Provari with a Protank on it (haven't delved into experimenting with cartos yet) and I love it. Gives me a great vape almost every time and looks gorgeous. Only complaint I have is the weight, but I am getting used to it.

I also ordered a chrome vv eGo battery and Mini Protank to take with me when I leave the house. I love it also - super light and slim, also very nice looking... although there are more unpleasant hits on it... not sure why. I will likely graduate very soon to a carto tank set up because I've heard such good things about them.

Still in search of juices that will make my mouth happy - to date, all I can find that I like is menthol mixed with a little RY4... I'm not crazy about it, but I really detest everything else I've tried, especially sweet juices. :(. Hoping to trip on that elusive ADV you guys are always raving about :) I've ordered a lot of sample juices so fingers crossed.

I want to thank everyone who chimed in to help me make my initial choices and weigh the facts. I am almost a month free and clean of cigarettes and I feel fantastic. Thanks so much for the support, encouragement and advice - I am truly grateful.

After you use it for a while it doesnt get lighter but you come to expect its heft, and when you pick up other stuff you think - god that feels cheap.
and the first time you drop it your heart jumps up into your mouth and OMG OMG what did i do.

now at least once a day i almost expect to reach for something and here WHAP! as my provari falls over on my desk - know what happens then? i pick it up and go OMG OMG did i break the tank again?
my first one is almost a year old, its broken two of my tiles and been refinished a nice SS matte, i cant count how many glass tanks i have destroyed dropping it and yet it works flawlessly.

lol enjoy, the rest is all playing now.

I think I tried around 30 juices before running into something I actually liked. To this day, and about 100 sample juices later, I still only have 3 that I can vape for extended periods of time, and a small handful that I like as an occasional vape. For me, finding juices I liked was the most frustrating part of the getting started experience.

@ Vwls. Grats on the 1 month mark smoke-free!! :toast:

I agree with what vangOgh said about flavors. I tend to think the ALL DAY VAPE is over-hyped. How boring, just one flavor vaped all day? I keep a dozen cartotanks filled simultaneously, each with a different flavor, and typically change between 3 - 4 in any given day.

Granted, I've tried MANY juices from many vendors over the course of 15 months vaping. It's all trial and error in sampling flavors. You find a lot of losers but often find some winners, too. I quit smoking with a menthol flavor (I smoked Marlboro menthols), but quickly found that I liked coffee and fruit flavors. I never tried a tobacco flavor until a month ago at a vape lounge, and now mix a coffee and tobacco flavor for my current favoritie flavor.

I suggest setting aside a certain amount of money for a juice sampling budget, and every month order some new flavor samples. You'll soon get a large collection of flavors that you enjoy.

Having a few devices filled and ready to go is what works best for me. I have a lot of juices I like, I guess I'm easy to please. I just can't vape the same juice all day, I get warn out on it. I generally prefer the natural tobaccos, HHV being my favorite. Threw-out the day I will change my juices 2-3 times. I always "rediscover" a juice because it's always fresh to my palliate.
I think I read about your juice struggles in another post. Give some Naturally Extracted Tobaccos a shot. HHV's are priced pretty low, and they have a very broad selection of flavors, they will also add menthol. If you don't dig sweet, Heavenly Tobacco, Legend and Hunstman are pretty smooth without being overly sweet. GA Peach is interesting, right out of the bottle you get a light tobacco taste with a natural peach flavor on top, after steeping for a while the two flavors will homogenize into kind of a peachy sweet tobacco flavor. I like it fresh.

The thing is, in my former life as a smoker, I could never, ever smoke a regular flavor cigarette. I would rather not smoke. It had to be menthol, and more, I had to either have a mint in my mouth when I smoked, or a beverage to sip while smoking. Weird right?

So I don't think any pure tobacco flavor is going to work for me unless its mentholated.

The good thing is I have lots of menthol juice because in a desperate effort to get set up, I ordered three bottles from Mount Baker - each a different variety of menthol. Sad to say none of them are that great, but in a way I'm glad I did it because as long as I mix them with other juices, I have something to vape I can stand.

Thanks for the juice suggestions - I have to admit I'm disappointed I haven't found something I love yet, but I'm so determined to keep trying, it really doesn't matter. Maybe in a way that's why I opted to buy the Provari right out of the gate. Somehow knowing the investment I've made makes it absolutely clear there is no turning back.

Here's the thing with tobacco flavors. You will never get a juice that tastes like a cigarette. Most of the flavor you get from a cig is from the combustion proses and has little to do with the tobacco. I didn't like the taste either....I smoked em anyways. The best way I can describe most N.E.T.s is like the flavor you get from holding an unlit mild cigar in your mouth. Then of course you have the other flavors added to it. I like natural tobacco juices because they have a more earthy organic taste. I would vape tea flavored juice instead if I could find one that actually had a good strong tea taste, most are way too light for me. The sweeter the flavor, the quicker I burn out on it.

The money I have spent on all this crap has definitely hardened my resolve to stay on the straight and narrow.

ocelot you messed up!!! the x9 is not glass :p

i guess every feral cat has her days

oh and i cant leave without my input on carto tanks. i hate them. they are a pain to fill a pain to set up, and a pain to keep running well. all i can taste in them now is the polyfill. ive tried setting mine up a thousand ways, used them exclusively for months, tried many "carto gurus" awesome setups, and no one has convinced me to convert. i solely use an ithaka on my mkb, an igo-w on my sig 13, an rsst on my sig 20, and my personal favorite vape, a ZAP on my purple provari w/green led (totally worth $15 btw). i use boge straight cartos to test my diy experiments since they are so cheap and i can throw them out if the flavor is wretched, but other than that, i solely use RBA's and kanger protanks (rebuilt with mesh, of course.) all of my coworkers worshipped carto tanks until i showed them kanger pro's, lol. theres a few of them that still stick with their carto tanks, but for the most part, they all use rba's or kangers now ;) now if only i could get the last few to ditch their vamo's and get a provari

It's not? I thought it was the official name of the Kamry ProTank clone. Thanks for catching that. I shall proceed to figure what an X9 is forthwith!
