Reo #3 is imminent. At first the SL didn't really appeal to me, but the more I look, the more I like - the red metallic LP/SL is especially sexeh. Those of you who have one - how do you like it? I mean aside from its inherent Reo awesomeness. What does SL bring to the party? Two things concern me: 1) that all the cut-outs make it less comfortable in the hand; and 2) that up close, having the battery and the bottle show through would be distracting. Can someone share some real world experience with me?

Initially I wasn't in love with the SL. I had similar concerns that you had but when I was getting ready to purchase REO#3 I needed something different from my black wrinkle and my silver hammer tone. Originally I was going to go with TRA or white (I am an Oakland Raiders fan, Silver and Black baby!) I decided on TRA and to make it stand out from my other two I decided to add the SL and do a brushed finish to add a little more flair. I love the SL now, the extra lightweight Grand now becomes very top heavy with a full size (20-22mm) rda on but the hand feel of the SL is great in TRA, I cannot speak to the other finishes but I am sure they are just as stellar. I honestly don't get distracted by the visibility of the bottle/battery. I am in the process of making a new door for my SL/LP TRA Grand in the ultimate quest of personalizing my REO.

A light mod that you can put in your pocket and hardly know its even there (due to light weight) would be my ideal working-day mod. I'm not concerned about the "holes" there's still plenty of meat in the chassis :) I wonder if Rob could machine a Reo out of delrin?

That sir would be a woodvil ........ precisely why I've carried one every day for 3 years.

I am a SL freeeeeek...

I think they look and feel amazing. I tried to weight a mini SL compared to a mini non-SL but my reloading scale is not big enough. I will keep looking for a way.
I do not find them uncomfortable at all. The finished SL holes are smooth, but the tumbled one is not as smooth. It is not going to cut you by any means but it not as smooth as the finished/painted REO of course. I like the texture that the holes add. Of course it does save some weight. For some being able to see the battery might be a color coordination issue but that is just how it is.

I have vaped at work among the smokers for months now. They have all seen my REO, woods, grands, mini's etc...Since getting all the SL's I find non vapors and vapors that are non-REO users are asking more questions and ultra curious about how they work. Vaping and vaping equipment can be intimidating at first or at least that is my experience but having a REO that you can see inside seems to give people a comfort level to ask more questions. They usually notice the battery since it is a different color but I just embrace it a rock on.

If you want to see one up close pick a color and send me a msg.
I have red, light green, and light purple batteries as well.

There it is again.. That blue one with the brass door... (or is it gold?)

Rattler, give me permission to make mine look exactly like yours if I ever decide to go SL.

It is polished brass door and polished brass Rm2. You sure don't need my permission and of course it is ok with me if you like that look. The picture does not do it justice for sure. The metallic blue just sparkles in the sun and the brass combo is incredible. It is not at all what I was going to do when I ordered the metallic blue but once I got it here and started playing around everything just went together.

The metallic purple with silver is very sharp as well.

My next will be a mini SL/LP in white with polished brass door and RM2 to match.

Yeah.. I gotta say, this SL pic that I've stalked in various instances is one of the nicest collections I've ever seen. I could totally imagine them getting a lot of attention from strangers that don't know Reo's, or even vaping.

Beautiful SL collection! I absolutely LOVE that yellow one! I may have to revisit my decision that I have plenty of REOs. Ha. Notice I didn't say I have "enough"......there's a small difference between "plenty" and "enough." "Plenty" leaves a little wiggle room.

I think "enough" is as elusive as "tomorrow" - always out of reach. Thanks for the input, folks. The weight is not an issue for me, so it's just about the aesthetics. RattlerX, that is a sweet line-up. I'll PM you about a close-up when I winnow down my list a bit. Maybe a regular LP with an extra SL door might be the best of both worlds. Now then - Mini or Grand? *Sigh* It's going to be a long, fraught weekend.

A little OT here, but when my kids were little, I remember once my daughter asked me if "maybe" was higher or lower than "we'll see."
