This is not the one I saw, I'm still looking for it, but here's one:

Suddenly the bottom battery cap started getting hot while vaping at 15w. I never noticed this before?

I took it apart, cleaned the threads, applied noalax, same results. Seems like only the battery cap is heating up :(

I am currently running it with the spring facing the battery.

Is it an old battery?

That's a battery problem!

Batteries are all <3 months old, VTC5's  I've been using those exclusively since I got them in late march early april. If the battery cap ever got hot before, I never noticed.... and I pretty much always vape at 12-15w, on the semo and the dna20 mod I've got, thats been kind of my sweet spot(s).

I can't lie, I'm a little worried about this... If my semovar goes down, I'm gonna cry. I hope its only the battery? I'll carry a couple extra with me tomorrow, and if I feel the heat again, I'll change batteries and see what happens. THANKS GUYS

Well maybe.... the cap got hot the other day, so I originally had it with the spring touching the bottom of the battery... I reversed it and put it back in the way it's supposed to be with the spring down and the brass screw cap touching the bottom of the battery and the heating seemed to stop. (Short test though)

Here's what I think. I have 2 mods I use regularly, and cycle through several vtc5's. The Futura DNA20 which also has a spring on the bottom cap, and the semovar. The semovar spring is not smooth it has some kind of texture to it and it's flattened out each end. All my batteries have spring scars on the bottom's. I'm wondering if the spring just wasn't making good contact because of the scars? And switching the brass connector around gave more stable surface area to the bottom of the battery?

I have not vaped a whole lot in the last couple of days, so I haven't tested the semovar like I would normally. But in the short time I did, reversing the brass cap seems to have solved it? I'll report back when I've actually used it more and had a chance to really put it through some stress.

What is the spring made of? I don't think its absence is affecting my semo to the extent that I order a new cap and have it shipped to egypt. Maybe I can try to find a replacement locally. I tried using one from an old car charger I had but there was no difference

Tamer, what type of problem are you having.
Unless you are running the end cap reversed so the spring touches the battery I can't figure out what it accomplishes. The brass piece in the end cap is threaded onto the steel so your ground is complete.

I understand from the people in here that reversing the end cap to have the contact made through the spring helps with the life of the battery charge. So I was hoping that by having a good replacement spring I can work that out.

Tamer Dude!

The spring is just a steel spring. Nothing special. It does have the bottom and top ground flat, which is a standard option for springs. It is about twice as long as it is wide, and it is wide just enough to fit in that hole. I will try to post a pic of the spring later, but I think you have enough to go on.

Reversing the battery cap may help, and may not. I think it is just an urban legend. I am currently using 18350 batteries, and I am getting between 6 minutes and 16 minutes on a single charge. The difference does not track with the batteries, or settings. Frankly, I think the Nivel chip, being made in Russia, has a virus that just taunts us poor souls who merely want to vape in peace.

+1. Completing the ground and circuit whether reversed, or not, makes no difference in my opinion. I can't even think of a likely reason on why or how this could make a difference. Urban Legend seems likely. Likely another case of subjective bias, not intentional, but likely. My two cents.
