its been about 3 and a half weeks of vapeing for me, after the first week i decided to see what the difference in taste was between my PV and analogs, plus i had a craving. So I bought a pack of what i used to smoke and lit one up not to long after, first thing i noticed was that the taste made me wasnt to put on the "i just licked a movie theatre floor" face. about 1/3 of the way through i was still getting a horrible taste and I also noticed there was no throat hit, wound up putting it out and pitching the pack.

Then this past weekend i was going out partying and bought a pack of more expensive smokes on a whim thinking they might be better tasting. Well I was wrong, the only way i managed to get through 1 and a half analogs was because i was more than a little intoxicated on several things... Wound up giveing that pack to a random girl...

Dont think Ill be buying anymore, even though I still get cravings, cause I know I cant stand the horrid taste, at least thats how i feel.

Think the only reason, I stopped analogs is because I found vaping in it's own way to be enjoyable and satisfying. If I had been stressed over it I don't think I would of stayed with choosing vaping over analogs,, the one reason I never gave up analogs before was because I was miserable without them.. I think creating a good experience is a strong factor, if you need an analog leave yourself that guilt free choice until you don't need it anymore..

it was around 3 months of starting e cigs, that I started thinking , actually picturing it,, how easy it would be to just open a box of analogs and smoke one instead of luging batteries, pass throughs and being next to outlets, stopping to re drip and all the bottles of juices or carts... lol lol... when it hadn't been on my mind not once all that time...

good thing is I had already tried to re start smoking analogs and coudln't choke it down so it was easy to not to follow through with my thoughts at 3 months, cause it wasn't an option to want try to choke them down again... was interesting how the convience at time is what pops into my head from time to time...

say go with the flow but don't drive yourself crazy over it ...

I'll echo all of the "tastes like crap" sentiment. There are times like after eating when I still want one pretty bad, but aftertaste from the two or three drags I've taken off analogs was so bad the cravings are getting less and less.

It might very well be a psychological thing with me, I'm a classic type A I guess, and it's all or nothing.

So I say hang in there!

I'm on my 3rd week and haven't entirely quit smoking. Here are a few things I've noticed:

- The juice flavor is important to me. "Marlboro" juice works much better than "Virginia" or "Hilton" for me. They all have 24mg, but the Marlboro juice is more accurate for me.

- Cravings are always for the real thing. For 20 years my brain equates nicotine with cigarettes NOT a pv.

- If I top off my cart with the best flavor I can beat a craving in about 2-5 minutes.

- If I go too long without vaping the PV will take too long to "fix me"

- One cigarette is better than a whole pack. If you don't want to stink up your house again step outside to smoke.

- I don't want to live longer if I'm miserable everyday. I try to find a happy medium.

- If you could smoke cigarettes as an occasional treat what's so bad about that? Just pace yourself so you don't get trapped.

I am still craving them now and then too, but I repeat this little mantra to myself:

A cigarette will not solve my problems, because smoking only adds to my problems.

I find that I crave them when I wake up, after a meal, and when I have gone a long time without hitting my e-cig. Perhaps identifying your personal triggers will also help you.

"Once an addict always an addict."

I haven't had a cigarette for about 4 months now (stopped counting really) after smoking 2-3 packs a day for 30+ years and have no desire for one. One thing that helps me is that I vape throughout the day so I never get cravings.

I vape several times a day at our smoking area (best place for conversation and gossip!) and the sight and smell of other people smoking does not make me want one in the slightest. I prefer the feel and taste of my e-cig.

I am under no illusions though. I have quit several other addictive substances in the past - including tobacco - and know full well that one day that little beast inside my head will wake up and say "I want one of those! Just one won't hurt." Everyone's different, but for me it probably would mean I'd be buying a pack and then smoking regularly again.

That little beast will probably never die completely, though it will get weaker and more impotent. And having been through it before, I know it for what it is - a little hungry beast that just want it's fix and doesn't care if it kills me to get it. Not gonna happen. It has no real power - I'll just look at it, laugh at it, and go on about my business. Paying attention to it just feeds it.

Don't beat yourself up if you go back to smoking. People nearly die from alcoholism, get clean for decades, then start drinking again, and sometime die from it. Just realize what you're going through is normal, give yourself a break, and start over.

Do what you did to stop in the first place. Vape often and whenever you think of smoking start vaping some high enough nic with a flavor you enjoy. After awhile your brain will associate the craving with vaping - not smoking.

No one really understands human addictions and how to stop them. If they did there wouldn't be so many addicts of all stripes in the world.

So give yourself a break and keep your sense of humor. You have to be able to laugh at your own stupidity sometimes. It helps a lot more to laugh at it than to fight it.

I haven't been that long without an analog but I find what helps me is never telling myself I am quitting. I carry a pack of cigarettes with me all the time it still remains unopened. Whenever I start wanting an analog I do a lot of what was suggested here which includes making myself busy, dripping a few drops of higher mg nicotine, and thinking about how awful it tastes. I always remind myself of the main reasons I switched to vaping which are to save money, to not smell, and because I got tired of driving 30 minutes to buy my brand of analogs (Eagle's) and then the only store who carries them not having them in stock.

I've quit analogs for 3 months since the first day I got my e-cig. But I experienced batteries problems and frustrations with maintenance of the parts and stuff. Since my girlfriend still smokes it has been easy to fall again into analogs. for one month or so I came back to my 1 pack/day habit. Now I'm back to e-smoking but sometimes when I realllly want one I just smoke it. But I'll try to never smoke as much as 1pack/day again...

Thanks ya'll for sharing your advice and stories.

I think what I'm going to do is just keep a pack on me and smoke after my coffee or a meal ( when I crave them the most ) like some of you suggested.

The reason why I started to vape was to save on the cost of smoking analogs, I know this sounds ignorant, but the health issues and all that other crap that comes along with smoking was the least of my worries I just didn't want to spend $80+ a month on analogs anymore.

I've noticed lately that when I vape I'll develop a small headache... I have no idea why and perhaps it's not the e-cig causing my headaches?

I'm going to buy some new juice and perhaps a new atomizer and see if that helps me any too.

Thanks you guys!!

For me, (a 1 to 1 1/2 pack a day full flavored smoker for 25 years) making the switch was something that came easily. I did notice rather quickly that there are little nuances that make it a hassle to vape - At least in the beginning. But being the gadgeteer that I am, I was quickly able to overcome the differences in the analogs and the E.

Having said that, I do see first hand that not everyone who has an E is able or willing to drop the analogs altogether. I guess that for me, I have really wanted to quit the analogs for some time now, but never found a product that worked well for me. I was able to stop for several months with the patch, but eventually came back around to it.

The smoking habit is indeed different for everyone. For me, I look at a pack of cigarettes and think that I might like to have one, and I tell myself that it is okay to have one on occasion, but at the moment, I am reveling in the short-term success of being able to lay those down in favor of something better, but only time will tell if it will be the be-all and the end-all alternative for me.

Good luck!

I went from smoking 3 packs a day to smoking l a day for a few weeks then completely quit. When I was smoking I had this fear that I would runout of cigarettes and always keep plenty on hand. I still keep a pack in my house but have not had an urge to smoke one. I totally enjoy vaping much better than smoking.

I've been vaping for about a month. I did not start with the "intention" to quit smoking since I get cigs very cheap and additive-free, and they aren't those horrid "fire-safe" things. I started looking into it due to my upcoming vacation and the "no-smoking" resort I'll be going to. I still smoke a few cigs a day, and I don't feel guilty about it. I know how I am, and the instant I start putting pressure on myself to stop all cigarettes is the instant I start smoking more cigs. ;) If I end up smoking a few cigs a day for the rest of my life, it's not going to bother me since I was up to 2 packs a day. I'd call that an improvement.

Don't stop vaping because you feel like you failed or something and don't PLAN. Just keep vaping and have a cigarette when you really feel the need - but don't PLAN on having a cigarette, if that makes sense. If you want to vape with coffee, do that. You don't want to SCHEDULE a cigarette and then make that the habit. Leave it up to whim.

Have you tried Nhaler's French Vanilla Coffee High Voltage? It's like your morning coffee and cig rolled into one! LOL!

Hopefully, analogs will taste as crappy to you as they do to me now. I've tried a drag or two when drinking and BLECH!

First of all, I agree with what you said. I shouldn't plan to have an analog, good idea!

About Nhaler's E-liquid. That sounds great! Can I use it in a 901 cart? I want to get some but I don't want to pay $10 shipping on just a tiny bottle of e-liquid. >_<

After I started vaping I realized that analogs did taste like crap and I still think they taste bad but I can't seem to stop these cravings all of the sudden.

You can use the HV in any device, and it's really good! Use the coupon code SAVEINNJ to help with the shipping cost... it's well worth it. It will be shipped at lightning speed!

I vaped constantly the first week, whenever I felt like I might want a cigarette in a few minutes I would just vape the hell out of my ecig...I also used flavors and extra high nic (32mg) and now I have found that an analog tastes sort of like a stick....it may just be me though but I am glad cause now when Im out of juice or my battery is dead and I grab an analog I take like 2 puffs and cant stand the taste any more so I'm really glad for that

as for the holier than thou thing yeah I hate that too, I'll never put an analog smoker down because there was a time (not very long ago at all) when, in certain situations, I would have gladly killed a person just to look at an analog, so I know the strong hold that those damn things have on a person

Blluebunneh;

Just off the top of my head (about your question concerning cravings)...I'd have to say there is more in cigarettes that make you addicted. People say it takes about a month to get passed them. I think it is more accurate that it takes us about a month to get a 'handle' on the problem.

They say there are over 4000 chemicals in a regular cigarette. Maybe just one or two starts calling for you to come back after....four months?

The thing that keeps me from picking up Analogs is I'm
sure much of the addiction is to the chemicals added to
them. I get nicotine from e cigs and now never crave e cigs
the same way I craved analogs.
I used to be paranoid about not carrying my e cigs with
me everywhere but now I don't even bring it to work.
If I vape I wait til I get home. Don't even get the after
meal cravings.
