so i work an office job, and my bf works with me. his boss just told him he is not allowed to use ecigs inside of the building. anyone else had this problem?
There are lots of threads on here about people using ecigs at work.

It's completely up to the place you work at to allow or not allow.

I vape at work but do it kinda discretely. However, this weekend I thought to myself "What gives me the right to sneak this in without proper approval, it will sure be embarrassing when I'm told to stop"

So today, I don't nearly vape as much as I did the past month or two just out of courtesy for my employer.

Some others have had great luck with their employers letting them vape at work.

You would think since this is not a cigarette and you are not smoking it they should allow this. A lot of places are smoke fre enviroment. That means you can't even smoke anywhere near the buliding. Some people have to go to the parking area to smoke a cigarette. If I was not allowed to vape I would go to the bathroom and vape away.

I am more along the lines of "don't ask, don't tell" and "what they don't know won't hurt 'em". My work takes me into a lot of different places, and I vape pretty much everywhere (hospitals, schools, factories, offices, etc.). If someone knows that I'm doing it and asks me to stop, I will certainly honor their wishes, but there is absolutely no reason that anyone needs to know. And I would never ask up front. That just gives them the chance to tell me I can't...then I can't. I wouldn't try to sneak it if I was told not to do it, but they gotta tell me first. Why give them the chance.
I have been vaping in all these places for six months and nobody has ever known that I was vaping that I didn't want to know ;)

I guess for once I am lucky. My boss, who can be a royal PITA, brought up e-cigs and told me I could use one at my desk, but not at customer locations.

This issue is about education. The masses have been told that everything is bad for them and who are they to question authority. My wife is a shining example. Did the Surgeon General approve this? Sigh. No honey, the government hasn't gotten its hooks into this, YET. Then I try to explain how this is a clean delivery system for Nicotine, opposed to the dirtiest delivery system (analogs). I think the dog got more out of that conversation. Keep trying.

I vape at my desk constantly... and use my Bart or eGo when I have to go out on the manufacturing floor.

But.... I don't vape in the conference room or in other peoples office. Although many if not most enjoy the smell, clouds of vapor wafting through the air can be disconcerting to the unwashed, and it can be kinda distracting.

I was at a theater the other night and they had signs up explicitly barring the use of PV's.. which I understand. I'd probably get upset too if I was trying to watch a movie and somebody in front of me is blowing plumes of vapor up into the air.

Just because it isn't second hand smoke and it's not going to hurt anybody.. doesn't mean you/we shouldn't be courteous.

I vape at my desk. I don't do it in common area like the lunch room or in any of the conference rooms.

A couple other employees in my office vape too. Although I have never seen them do it in the office. I work for a large corporation (400k+ employees worldwide), so I'm sure we actually do have a policy on e-cigs somewhere. Like with most things, we tend to go by the "Don's ask, don't tell" policy in my office specifically and that works out fine until somebody abuses the casual guidelines of what is appropriate. So far, so good.

I think I vape more at my work then at home !! Ha Since i sit at pc's all day at work for 10+ hours. We don't have a policy really-as long as no one abuses it.

Same with me. Sitting in from of the computer all day.

My co-workers love the fact that I don't smell like a cigarette anymore though. :)

I just don't blow my vapor in the air, I blow it down into my lap instead of straight forward or up.

Its defenatley an interesting situatinon. I have been vaping for my 5th week now and i vape everywhere constantlly. But at the same time I stay courteous to others by making sure to take small drags and hold it a bit longer to absorb most of the vapor and then let it out in a downward exhale to reduce 90% of any visable vapor and what you can see is so minor very very few people have ever noticed.
Best rule of thumb is keep it subtle and dont flaunt it and you can vape just about anywere.

I vape at my office, didn't ask permission, eaiser to ask forgiveness. :D
I've vaped in stores, the ER, doctor's office, the VA clinic, The local Cop shop, and today, we had a big emergency prepardness exercise and I vaped sitting at my computer in a big open room with lots of people and action around, not to mention my boss, and no one noticed. Course I held the vapor in until it couldn't be seen. I plan to fly to Germany and Egypt the middle of next month, and you cn bet I will be stelth vaping on the plane.
