I like the fact that they're being taken to court for misleading information.

I hate the fact that they are terribly misinformed.

However, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has determined that electronic cigarettes contain a variety of dangerous chemicals, including nicotine, carcinogens such as nitrosamines and, in at least one case, diethylene glycol, commonly known as antifreeze.

"One case..."

Out of how many samples?

I find something to help me quit and someone wants to take it away.Want to talk about dangerous?Ever seen a chantix commercial?Like a minute and a half of nothing but side effects and dangers. That got the big stamp of approval.I took that crap for about 7weeks.Yes I did cut way back on my smoking, but I knew I would go back because I could not stand the meds. That and my face got bitten off by a bear just about every damn time I went to sleep. My buddy took it to quit snuff, said his crazy dreams were Woody Harrelson coming by his work telling everyone they used to get high together. If you want a mind trip, take some freakin FDA approved Chantix.

MY chime in:
Of course all of it is bull >>>. And i do have to comment being a pretty loyal Stern fan, i did a search for any video created for smoking everywhere with Stern and the only person that might have done this is Jose Canseco. Even that i cannot believe. I have never heard Howard speak a word about ecigs on his show. I listen everyday on my sirus. But they do actually have a ad running on his show. SMOKE ASSASIN.. which i can tell you is the same scam as a couple other products out there. you know, free startup kit and then they own you with a over the top price on carts.. anyway, fair is fair and I would like to be corrected if i am wrong or Oakland-Attorney General Edmund G. Brown Jr is the one who should be getting sued for his ridiculous comments and slander. Just another ********* in the office. If you read the article did you notice that the same reasons for a ban or suit is the ones the media has talked about since day one.
Nothing new here, and this is all they have to go on..
Thanks

Tdwave, you are right about a video with Howard Stern. He has never made a video with or about SE. Maybe they took a clip of Jose Canseco when he was pushing them on the show, but thats about all they could be talking about.

You would think old Jerry would have better things to do with his time than making bogus claims. And to think that he may once again be our future Governor. I for one won't be voting for him. But at this point I think he is that leading candidate.

All I can say about his ridiculous claims is PFFFFFFT.

Does anyone know if Nicorette has warnings on it's labels about the TSNAs in their product? If not, I'm afraid I might have to file a complaint under prop 65.

I have CVS nic lozenges, 2 mg. No mention of nitrosamines. Just 2 mg nicotine. Also has aspartame (which I was not aware of ), flavor, magnesium stearate, mannitol, potassium bicarbonate, sodium alignate, sodium carbonate, xanthan gum.

The nic is nicotine polacrilex. Damn...I would rather have TSNAs than aspartame.:mad::mad:

Chantix does give you some crazy dreams. I liked 'em though. A girl I know had nothing but sex dreams.

I would print out a copy of Judge Leon's 32-page opinion and attach it to a Motion to Dismiss.

I read Brown's filing and it is filled with accusations without a shred of proof. The parts that are true, are either not illegal or Judge Leon has quashed FDA's negative spin on it quite tidily.

this is another push for governmental controls, who actually get's hurt by E-cigs? The tobacco growers? I think they get the nic from tobacco so, no not really. The smokers? Unless vaping pg/vg leads to serious health issues down the line, which is seemingly unlikely, no. The bystanders of second hand vapor? highly unlikely.

The government gets massive tax dollars from tobacco products. It's a wonder that they can actually spend it all, if smoking actually dropped those tax dollars disappear. I'd say smoking is probably the single highest tax on a predominantly low income group of people. They finally inflated that sin-tax so high a very large number of people are seeking a viable alternative to plopping down $6 or more on a daily basis to do something most of them WANT to do.

and I'm sorry if I offend, but Obama singed into action a bill that doubled the fed tax on cigs to pay for a bill that covered more children under the schip program, and now it seems that our alternatives to "quitting" are being put under fire. I'm not saying there's a connection, but it's highly suspicious.

Government is not meant to control the people, but rather reign in societies immoral vices for the security of that society. There is nothing immoral about smoking, however our court system mandated, anti-smoking campaigns have so seered into the minds of the people that smoking is not just unhealthy, but that it is WRONG, immoral and almost at the edge of evil. Thus e-cigs are evil-lite, and must be reigned in before is corrupts the youth and kills the elderly.

I feel I may have rambled, my apologies.

Stern would never personally endorse a product like e-cigs. He's always going off about how stupid it is to inhale anything foreign into your lungs. Sirius sells commercial time to companies, and Canseco was on the show as a guest and happened to discuss the Smoking Everywhere e-cigs, but Stern never did. Artie made a comment about how kids could still look cool with it, but it wasn't in an endorsement kind of way. You'd have to hear it in context.

Excellent point, I made the Chantix argument just yesterday, that drug is scarry. Be careful if your thinking about taking it.

Brown needs to restrict his complaint to valid points of law. He did not cite a law against marketing to children.

You guys? Don't get confused. Plenty of "liberals" in "communifornia" and elsewhere are vaping, or approve of it as a safer alternative to smoking, and are vehemently opposed to this moronic and vicious campaign to prohibit a good thing. I'm among them. Let's leave that stuff to the politicians - they all have their hands in somebody's pocket, always have, blue and red alike. Solidarity around a common cause is the thing here, yes?

Well said. I, too, am a liberal and grow rather tired of the liberal bashing that often goes on here.

As aubergine said, this is not a "red" vs. "blue" issue. This is a "common sense" vs. "greed and corruption" issue. And neither political party holds a monopoly on either one of those.

Liberalism (n): An ideology supporting the liberal use of legislation in the attempt to solve social and economic problems, i.e. government subsidy, overregulation, excise taxation, and prohibition.

While I agree that neither the democrats nor republicans are exempt from blame in this issue, liberalism in itself is indeed one of the things we should be worried about. Deny this if you will, but I, for one, will not believe you without very compelling evidence.

While the meaning of "liberal" and "conservative" in common usage have come to mean "democrat" and "republican," both parties have been guilty of insanely liberal use of law in recent years. This is part of the reason I am not affiliated with either party.

I am a libertarian. Root: liberty. I believe in unlimited personal rights so long as they do not interfere with the rights of others. If my neighbor wants to smoke crack and have unprotected sex with goats, I could care less as long as I don't have to see it (and the goat doesn't seem to mind over much). A libertarian government would not be concerned with e-cigarettes. It would be up to the individual to decide whether or not the risk involved with ingesting any substance was justified, and up to the individual to deal with any consequences that resulted.

Okay, stepping down from my soapbox now.

Someone I know took Chantix and said the same thing. Her dreams were crazy and she said she cried all the time. She said she felt so sad and the only thing she was doing different was taking that crap.

They're just trying to figure out how to get their piece of the pie.
