Today, all the "big guns" filed a Motion for Leave of the Court to file an Amicus Brief. With these groups, you can rest assured that their Motion will be granted. Have to like that 'tobacco-Free Kids". No kid is going to ever take the time or effort to mantain one of these e-cigs. It is just not plausable.

yadda yadda yadda

The FDA is really taking this e-cig matter way too seriously.

There is no doubt they have no consideration for the health of smokers and ex-smokers, and if they don't value our lives, you can bet your bottom dollar they don't value the lives of non-smokers either. Declaring war on the electronic cigarette while the deadly tobacco cigarette still roams free on the market is proof the FDA has no moral compass and is just a government bureaucracy serving the interests of corporations.

We need to assemble at FDA headquarters in Chicago and demand they back off from the case against e-cigs.

Wait, if there's no agenda involved why are all these anti-tobacco groups coming in to oppose the import of something they are deeming to be a "non-tobacco" product?? That in itself speaks volumes about their motives, and I can only hope that the court sees the same thing.

This case shouldn't be any of their concern (unless of course they are financially committed to making sure people use OTHER tobacco products!) If too many people go tobacco-free, at least half of those organizations will go out of business.

Am I missing something?

Watch a PBS program sometime on where your meat and dairy come from and you'll understand the FDA doesn't give a crap about anybody. Free range farms and unadulterated foods are a thing of the past.

Alright, once everyone has had a chance to pick their jaws up off the floor...

Has anyone been in contact with the Washington Legal Foundation, the group filing an Amicus for SE & NJoy? Since we seem to be the best informed both as users and fact gatherers, wouldn't it be beneficial to them to make sure they have bullets in their guns? After the most recent event, I for one would like to see them point out to the court that all of the associations, societies, etc. are feeding the public doctored numbers and outright lies. Not to mention the fact that the ALA has come right out and said that they would rather us smoke than use an e-cigarette.

The Washington Legal Foundation is a well known group--but only in the legal community. They do not have the clout or the power of these groups either in the Courts or the with the Public.

What we need is for as many groups as possible to get together and file an Amicus brief.

For starters, folks like CASAA, AAPHP, Smokefree Pennsylvania.
Add to that as many any others who are sympathetic to our cause as we can find.

Because yikes, those are some really big, hard-to-ignore names on there.

It hate to say it but that is a very impressive list.
And it is actually scaring me.

Eric--there is some other movement in the works that I already spoke to and will not address again. But when you have these types of groups involved in opposition to e-cigs, it is an uphill battle my friend.

I've attempted to contact Deborah Shelton on numerous occasions and have received no response.

Someone needs to put an e-cig in the hands of our mighty President (Joke on mighty ) and ask him the big question and to get the facts while taking the power away from the FDA until further notice. I for one would also like to see the Presidents answers to some of our questions on this forum for sure, he would look like the idiot he is answering them
