I know that it is almost common law not to smoke analogs at the pool. People just don't do it. In the Northwest Suburbs, I can't think of any locality that has an ordinance banning smoking at the pool, although some individual aquatic centers and waterparks have banned smoking on their outdoor pool decks. Smokers have just come to the personal conclusion that tobacco smoke does not belong in an outdoor swimming pool setting.

But what about vaping? Do you all vape at the pool? I haven't yet, but I'm wondering if there is already a stigma forming around e-cigarettes in these places.

My new bride and I spent the better part of a day of our honeymoon, last week, at Dollywood's Splash Country in Pigeon Forge, TN. I openly vaped. I wasn't blatant about it. I wasn't trying to cause any unwanted attention. I noticed some other visitors' attention to my vaping, but was unconcerned and prepared to either explain what it was or refrain if asked by park staff. Alas, no worries except for a decent sunburn.

The park has a strict No Smoking policy. I never bothered to ask if PVs were included.

I personally wouldn't.

I think a lot of the "I'll vape anywhere" crowd is forgetting the respect factor. It's not against the law to walk around walmart in daisy duke shorts, but I bet none of you want to see me do that (I'm a guy). The vapor isn't harmful, but how many people know that? Blowing it in their face before explaining isn't the way to do it. No, it isn't smoking. Does everyone else?

EDIT-took me a while betweek "reply" and actually typing the reply. My post isn't aimed ay you Doug. I'm really not sure where the line should be drawm...but I would always ask first.

I would vape at any outdoor pool.

In fact, I just got back from a cruise where I vaped on the deck in the "adults" section.
This, in spite of the fact that there was a "No Smoking" sign prominently posted.

Nobody ever said a word to me.

I will always vape in an outdoor area until told to stop.
And if told to stop I will ask to speak with a manager so I can educate them if they are ignorant.

If they choose to remain ignorant after speaking with me, then I comply.
But I let them know that I think ignorance is not an excuse for taking away freedoms.

No offense taken! :toast:

As I said, I wasn't blatant about it. I was actually discreet, inc:glare:luding stealth exhaling. We were positioned right beside a thoroughfare walkway. People saw me with my PV to my lips and continued on their way. None of the park visitors who were seated in our immediate vicinity had any clue as to our actions, as far as I am aware.

I think we, as vapers have a right to abide with others' comfort, but as long as we show respect for others, we are allowed to blow steam into the air. IT ISN'T BANNED. The pretense of not vaping because it may not be accepted is cowardly IMO. . One must be prepared to ask for "forgiveness" while educating the vapor-ignorant as to the acceptance of e-cigs vs stinkies.

Ok, well, as someone who has smoked at public swimming pools back when you were allowed to and someone who has actually smoked cigarettes at public swimming pools which have actually been in public swimming pools, dried out in the sun poolside, I can tell you that I won't be vaping any where near them.

I fall in far too easily, and not unlike Bilbo Baggins, I never remember what I've got in my pockets.

All kidding aside, if there's a shady area away from the pool to keep your gear dry and out of direct sun, I don't see what would be objectionable about it, but I wouldn't just leave a batt baking like an aging california girl on your beach towel.

I never ask permission. I mean seriously, they'll stare and figure it out for themselves that it's clearly this healthy new electronic cigarette that they've all heard about, unless they live in a cave of course. I'm entitled to not breaking rules, now till I see one that prohibits vaping then I will observe that rule when people are looking, if they are not looking then it's like nothing happened. Sometimes I vape like I own the world and sometimes I'll be discreet (I personally just hate the attention for the most part). I've never been asked to stop, but my brother has been asked numerous times to stop, he says the reason they give him is because it doesn't look good for their business with somebody openly smoking like that, but my brother is the kind of dork that will blow rings and cause a commotion at the bar amongst his peers of how cool vaping is and to watch this ring he's gonna blow cause this time it will be thicker than the last and more rings this time.

I think it kinda depends on what kind of PV you're using, if its obvious to everyone that its an e-cig its fine, for example a slim 510 like the Joye 510 that has a blue or green light. But if your using a provari or Lavatube with a tank some ignorant people might think you're using .... or something.

Love the avatar ha, da bears!

I was thinking I could start saying my provari or SB is my "breathing treatment". I'd use different accents for the fun of it.

Next time someone asks me I'm going to say.. "Ooooohhh child this is my breathing treatments I get the vapors something awfull"

Then right after that I'd start playing the spoons on my knee.

Oh right this thread is a water park themed thread. I'd be wearing a speedo of course.
